i think a mod should be made that is totally different than stock ra2. it should be like a fps or a racing game. something that nobody would ever expect from an ra2 mod.

take quake rally and quake 3 rally. they tuned a fps into a racing game.

i would be happy to help on this mod(design, ideas, arenas/track/whatever place you play in, coding, models.)

If we take the Gigafrost mod, replace all the weapons with ammunation, create arenas with walls as hazard, we get a FPS game that you can advance in levels in.

no i mean one that looks and performs like a fps or racing game.

a racing game could easily be done. make cars and have track arenas.

a fps would be harder. armour would be health and energy or air power would be ammo.

Not possible with what we have now.(as far as I know) Unless you make a game out of scrap.

it would be good to try. we might be able to make it into a fps.

hopefully acams, click, firebeetle, and mad will help me.

edit: the bullets would be like beetle bros grapes.

some progress:
i have started ideas for the thing. One of them is to jump.
i think a rely powerful piston facing upward should do the trick and have smart zone ballast somewhere way below the robot to keep it balanced.

the guns will be based off of firebeetles laser cannons but will be more like guns. they will have servos for tilt and the robots turning will be pan.

i have also made an omnidirectional platform type thing for it.https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/35385screenshot.bmp it is very stable and is quite maneuverable.

is there anyway to make the chassis collision mesh big but keep the chassis small? that way the robots wont become tangled with each other and the shots wont have the hit the tiny box in the center of the robot. it will just have to hit the "personal bubble" of the robot.

edit: i made a crappy drawing to show you the thing with the chassis mesh.

another thing is the legs. the legs will be made up of servos and a python script will move them accordingly to the movement of the robot. the omnidirectional base thing will be the actual thing that moves the bot. but i am going to change it into a hover thing (can control the jumps better). whatever it is it is going to be invisible and consist of only collision meshes.

i have actually gotten somewhere with it. I went up against my bro with the omni bot thing and it was quite fun.
just waiting for the .max of the lasergun...

I doubt that mod will ever be done.

I think you can find a theorical way to do all the thing, but the building of this will require such effort...

RM, I'm not sure what it is you're asking about the bot mesh(es). In the bot file there is only a collision mesh and a display mesh. And via BFE, you CAN alter one without affecting the other.
 
I'm not sure I understand your objective here either, except that it will be either a 'FPS' or 'racing' game. Could you explain more, with text and some better pics...?

I think I understand the concept... he wants bots to obtain damage is they are hit in a small arena around the chassis so that targets would be larger without the need for bulky robots..

*turns to mad for confirmation.... no its more of a stab in the dark :P* I think a variation of smart zones could achieve that with some coding ?? say if the bot is hit in the smartzones it sustains damage ??
