Title: Video Game Demakes! Current games + Old systems (be creative!)
Post by: ianh05 on June 22, 2012, 05:07:46 AM
I'm a big retro gaming fan and recently found out about this little atari game called Halo 2600, it's basically Halo for the old atari 2600 system that was released in 1977.

what kind of games would you like to see "demade" for old retro consoles? feel free to post pics etc.

There's some images on the internet already of game demakes and even some videos.

I didn't know you were so into retro gaming, Ian...

I remember hearing about Halo 2600 on Digital Press. Seems like it hadn't been released when I heard about it.

On Digital Press, there is a guy that has an "advertisement" GIF for Final Fantasy VII for Atari 2600 in his signature. He has previously mentioned that it was made as an April Fool's Day joke, but the thought of it is worth a chuckle.

I also saw a guy that ported an arcade game to Atari 2600, but the task was thought to be impossible because it would have been beyond the 2600's capabilities. The guy tried anyway and proved all the skeptics wrong. I can't remember the name of the game at the moment, but I'll try to find it again.

Nah, that's not it. I did find it, though.

It's called Star Castle. The guy is D. Scott Williamson. He's got a page on Kickstarter for it.

I would link the page, but I'm currently on mobile web, and this Pantech turd can't copy and paste.

Google would pretty much take you straight there, anyway.

He is selling cartridges of it and I like the fact that the cartridge case is made of clear acrylic and he mounted an LED on the ROM so it lights up when you play it. Looks pretty sweet...

The story of how it came to be is definitely an interesting read, too.

Ah, Vectrex... One of the systems that I'd love to have in my collection, but always seems to evade me.

I'll continue to hate on the bad games that caused the video game crash of 83 (E.T for example) and cut it's life way to short :( it was going to be even more awesome! thankfully there's a decent homebrew community for it that produces some great games :)
