Top 5 gaming moments that made your heart stop
« on: May 12, 2014, 03:59:25 PM »
Basically, just say which moments you weren't expecting to happen. Good or Bad.
5. Beating Emergency - Robot Arena 2
Emergency - the hardest bot in the game with Tornado on a par with it. It requires skill to beat it, more than just a small box with outer wheels and a piston. What a feeling once you've beaten it... Especially when it's on the clawtop arena!
4. Resident Evil 4 - Chainsaw Maniac
The moment you hear the chainsaw rev up and see him running at you with a bag over his head you think "Holy Crap, WTF DO I DO??
When you get killed it automatically sends the signal this isn't a game for a scardy cat and this is terrifying. Then how do I defeat him. It's gets worse. You may choose one of two paths; defeat two chainsaw hags chasing you at once with villagers attacking you.
On the last map of mercenaries, a giant with a double chainsaw that doesn't walk... Hahaha NO. He waddles as he sways it side to side and one hit is fatal. WHOPPEE!!!  Also, if you climb up somewhere, he doesn't simply climb up following you... No, he jumps up to where you are! How fun!
3.Pikmin 2 - MEETING THE TITAN DWEEVIL
The end baddie. Every. Single. Element. All elements were included in the baddie which took time and effort to try and defeat making it almost impossible to defeat.
2. The walking dead - the death of Lee
A caring man who finds a child in an apocalypse. Finally bit, you must make a decision for her to
leave you or put you out of your misery. Anyone who didn't cry or feel anything is stone hearted!
1. CoD 4 - Shock and Awe to Aftermath.
Ok; the mission is going not too well but could be worse.. You rescue a pilot and when you're airborne, a nuke hits. Quite far from you actually but the wave comes hurtling towards you, you watch your comrades sent flying out and hit the ground. Then unexpectedly, if that wasn't horrifying enough, you die. In MW3, The most unexpected happens... Captain "Soap" Mactavish dies. " SOAP... SOAP... SOOOOOAAAP" An extremely upsetting moment. Both events.

Upload yours,  you don't have to give an explication if you don't want to.
Thanks all for reading, Jaydee99

5: Beating Yunalesca - Final Fantasy X HD

I was very unprepared for this fight. Floored my team quickly the first couple of times but then about 3 hours of leveling up and two tries later and then I beat her. Made the witch deader than dead and felt good about it.

4. The Son beats the Boss - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

This moment I loved because I did it in a candle-lit shed at night in the lovely Welsh countryside. In short what an amazing boss battle and brilliant game ending. (Actually right now I'm listening to the ending theme)

3.  Elapsam semel occasionem non ipse potest Iuppiter reprehendere - Virtues Last Reward.
Clovers Ending comes close to this but it was the fact that you betrayed Phi in another timeline and then she betrayed you. My mind was blown when that moment happened.

2. The fall of Almighty Bhunivelze - Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Absolutely Tough fighting him and my heart almost stopped beating him. One of my favourite boss battles ever. Also that final boss theme.

1. Fall of the Earth Knight - Shadow of the Colossus

Gaius is my personal favourite of the colossi but beating him made heart stop from amazement. It was how you did the boss fight and the stabbing of the sigil on his head with a view of the Forbidden Lands behind will forever be one of my favourite gaming moments ever.

In absolutely no particular order:

5. The first time I jumped the flagpole in the second Super Mario Bros game. I didn't know you could actually do that in the second one, since I had tried so often to do it in the first. I thought I had done something worthy of mention in Nintendo Power at the time.

4. The opening cutscene of Hyrule Field when you leave Kokiri Forest for the first time in TLoZ: Ocarina of Time. Sure, Super Mario 64 was also 3D but this was the first "oh man this is an ADVENTURE" game on the platform.

3. The first time I beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Blue. Compared to the difficulty of the series today this is hardly an accomplishment, but at the time I was floored to have beaten the game. This moment is tied with the times that I discovered new undocumented glitches in Red/Blue as well.

2. No community bias here, but the first time I played Robot Arena 2. I was let down by the first one severely and I only bought the sequel just on principle, and because I wanted to believe that the game could rise above its successor. Radio controlled combat robots has been a major hobby throughout my life and I was blown away by how much better this game was than the first. The first time I turned it on I believed the robot building possibilities to be literally endless.

1. Setting a new personal best speedrun time in Super Off Road (SNES version) live at the Extra Life marathon charity event last year. The game is my brother's favorite racing game and I was there participating in the event since it benefitted childrens' hospitals (one of which saved said brother's life). I had rehearsed that game so many times in the weeks leading up to the event and each time I got bad RNG or I botched something and lost but when it came time to do the deed not only was the execution flawless, it was my fastest time ever (sub-30).
The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

I can only rember one, but it's a big one; getting the Holy Cow in Katamari Damacy.  The most rage inducing thin in the game, and I finally kicked its ass!

Plot twists don't really make my heart stop, but props to the Bioshock series and KOTOR for at least making me pause my game to ponder over what just happened.

As for the heart-stopping stuff though, (since I don't play horror games) I could only think of one.

Bioshock Infinite. The one in the asylum. You know the one I'm talking about. I unloaded my whole carbine magazine against it and it wouldn't go away so I ran back to the start of the level in panic. :<

Not including the horror game type of heart-stop because I've played too many (Silent Hill 2 is still the best), the best heart stop moments I've had have mainly been in Super Hexagon. That game, I swear, is out to drive you insane, and when you beat ANY level of it...

5. Fallout 3: Dogmeat getting lost after I told him to go back to Vault 101. I eventually found the bugger, but I still got a heart attack none the less.

4. The Walking Dead: Carly/Doug decision. I honestly thought that both of them could escape. As it turns out, the game takes the fragility of human life very seriously.

3. SCP Containment Breach: Every 5 seconds

2. Pokemon Fire Red: The Pokemon tower. When I first encountered ghost I immediately thought back to the creepy pasta about Ghost and laughed. Then I tried to attack. When it told me my Pokemon was too scared to move I honestly thought for a moment I was facing THE ghost of the story and shat bricks

1. FlatOut 2: Beating career mode. I never really jumped up and screamed or anything. But I did just look at the screen and think to myself:"it's over?". The game has no story whatsoever but it's been with me for around 5-6 years and I have never completed it ever. And when I did, I kinda just sat there and got teary eyed.

1. The ghost in Pokémon Blue in the Pokemon Tower. I was twelve or something when it happened.

2. Some jump scares in Serious Sam (****ing Kleer skeletons) and one in Homeworld: Cataclysm.

Nothing much though.

Some of my moments are:

Some stuff happening in Arma II multiplayer and singleplayer :
 1) Like being sent to a  MP mission to destroy enemy tank bases and being supplied whit some grenades and m4 CCO whit 3 clips and a GL whit one grenade( total of ca 5 GL HE Grenades per whole team(some had just smoke grenades).
My Ass was covered when we were under enemy gunfire and my job was to throw grenades at enemy tanks and loot enemy corpses for extra grenades ( since it took at least good 4-8 grenades per tank.
And i tried to blew up  enemy APC tires when it got stuck. i gave up.

2) 3 members vs Shilka(or ZSU-23-4. The big Russian tank for destroying planes, has satelite disk on its top).

3) Being stealthy, then suddenly hearing insurgent machine gun truck noise and being it stop  sideways RIGHT in front of you. But he saw my friend not me, so i managed to go behind it and kill the shooter.

In other games:

4) World scariest police chases: Whole tank against your small police cruiser, especially when you are five/six year old

5) Submarine commander: that ending...
Apparently master at sucking in everything.... except 3d modeling i suppose and  Scripting Vizual Bazzic like 70+ years old blind man......

5. Any NASCAR game when you're at Daytona or Talladega.  Your in the middle of the pack or just behind a large group of cars, and all of the sudden all you see is tire smoke.  It's The Big One.

4.  Need for Speed.  Flying down the highway at high speeds and a cop swings out in front of you and drops spikes right in front of you.

3. Team Fortress 2. Turning a blind corner as a Scout, only to come face to face with an enemy Engineer nest full of Level 3 Sentry Guns.

2. Minecraft. Whenever you're minding your own business, whether you're mining or building and you suddenly hear the hissing of a Creeper behind you.

1. Left 4 Dead 2.  The first time the entire group I was in escaped in the bridge finale on the Parish campaign.

It's a shame they didn't keep Missingno.  You probably would've had a funny reaction to that.
