You need to find someone really looking for them to get 4 ref on the Outpost, I think. Set your sights a bit lower and you might get a sale - or just find matches.

Why do I find that to be a very silly trade?
Just clean the hat OR re-paint it. Would save you the trouble for the first half of the trade.

Not particularly, unless the L'etranger is vintage too. But it's not a horrific overpayment. Effectively, you traded away 0.38 worth of stuff, and got 0.27 worth back (saying that ordinary weapons such as the L'etranger and Chargin' Targe are worth half a scrap)
