Bout time this game had a thread 

who plays it ?

I have played it since the original was first released (1998 I believe) all those many years ago, usually off and on playing it but I have got back into playing it a lot more with the release of Starcraft 2.

Im looking to buy Starcraft 2 right now, currently hunting for the cheapest deal,

A systems check told me one aspect of my graphics card conflicts with Starcraft 2 but I think it will still run.. if anyone brought a retail copy aparently they come with 3 guest keys for 7 hours of play ? if anyone has one they are willing to give me so I can try it out, we can arrange some form of trade, as you know im quite handy with computer graphics or even modding aspects of RA2. PM me

My favourite race is probally the Terran, its perhaps the weakest, I know but you can pump out armys at a very fast rate compared to others and there are a few nifty tactics they can use.

I sometimes play starcraft1 but I get bored of it. Meanly because I know how the Com dose's almost everything, and yes Terran rock 3 bunkers and 2 sieges and masses of the little guys in large suets (can't remember there name) with a couple meds and a science ship and maybe a battle cruiser or two and you could stand a long time.

I loved playing the original Starcraft against my friends via LAN parties.

I hated playing Starcraft against strangers over the interwebs.  I could never seem to keep up with the amount of troops they all seem to churn out quickly. Usually I would get my ass handed to me pretty major. After a while I gave up. 

I liked playing the Protoss, but never could seem to get a major edge over my opponents with protoss. Didn't matter though, I just loved making tons of those big starships with the little drones that buzz around. I would amass enough of those until my troop limit was max and then stage a wonderful raid.  Fun!

Probably wont get the sequel though... just not enough time in my day.

I used to like the protoss (doing the same thing with the large ships) but I released I sucked with them.

I intend on playing online a lot more, I haven't done so with Starcraft but I did a lot with Warcraft 3 which is basically the same but not as cool =P

there might be a lot more active players with the sequel

I played Zerg in Starcraft 1 and broodwar, waiting to get 2 at the moment because ladder system seems neat and custom maps = epic.

I got it since 1998 or 1999. I payed 20 DM for it (the money in germany before the euro came) It`s one of my favorite games ever. I just love the story. I think it`s the only strategy game with a really great storyline. I even bought some books. Havn`t played it the last years but since a few weeks I play it via LAN with 3 friends (we also play RA2 *-* :P)
I try to get better with protoss but they are so expensive. Zerg are cheap but they don`t have good units against airunits. Terrans got the spacemarines to pwn with stimpacks but they die pretty fast. I just love how the game is balanced.
And stuff. :)

thats why I like Terran.. they have the best basic unit...

Marine - Long Range, can attack air.
Zergling - Melee, cant attack air.
Zealot - Melee, cant attack air.

I lol at the computer playing Terran always making heaps of Firebats instead of marines

firebats are better for bunkers. like:
1 firebat + 3 marines in one.

for a quick match protoss are pretty good cause 1 zealot can kill 2-3 marines an 2-3 zerglings I think.

Firebats suck becasue they require close range to attack and have low HP like Marines, also they dont attack air units

I like nuclear striking with ghosts too =P

they are not funny when you play against the one and you just can not find that ghost in time >.< :D

because terrans got more detectors?

the missile turrets are pretty cheap and quick to build, they have science vessels that detect things and comand center has a scanner sweep

And they got the science ship which is so powerfull against protoss when they use the emp.

I would love to, but you know... ;D but we HAVE to do it!
