Spyro the Dragon - Games 1 through 3
« on: October 31, 2011, 08:13:38 PM »
Video that features Sage:

Anyway, discuss the first 3 Spyro games.
Spyro 1 was dark, and became awesome because of it.
Spyro 2 is loaded with hilarity, ESPECIALLY the Perma-Super Flame.
Spyro 3 became somewhat of a Mario Party game, with all the minigames. But its still enjoyable.

I really did love the first three Spyros. Gateway to Glimmer did seem to be more comical than the others ('No...no...aha! *scribbles something down*'
'I love the smell of turtle soup in the morning'
'Oh no! I went boom...again'). I think that Spyro 1 was a lot darker and more sinister than the others, and three was somewhere between 1 and 2, as I remember. I really need to get round to playing them again, if only for nostalgia purposes. But then again, seeing just how much I can remember from the games (considering how long ago I played them and how bad my memory is) will be rather amusing. I do think that the use of Sparx as both a fully integrated health bar and a gem collector (presumably due to being unable to make it so that gems didn't fall to places you couldn't get to) was an awesome idea, in retrospect.
Yes that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.

Spryo heck yeah!

I should play trough all 3 again. I played each of them so many times I have the levels memorized even if last time I played was about a year ago.
I need to set a challenge for myself.... How about no-death run? Speaking of that I actually managed to to get to the second boss in Spyro 3 with no deaths and then he decided to murderize me MANY times over, honestly Spike is the hardest boss of that game, everything else is nothing much.

Spyro 3 is probably THE game of my childhood. I still play it now, and the only reason I don't play the first two is because I don't own them. I've completed it 4 times so far (117%), and it still surprises me even now. Just the amount of little details you have to play through a few times to actually notice, and the fact that I STILL find different ways to play each level every time I go through it. I should probably attempt a No Death Run at some point, a Speed Run would take far too long. But I do agree that they had some great humour in them.

Ditto.

Spike is the hardest boss of that game, everything else is nothing much.
Hell, even the final battle is cake-walk.
The ONLY other "boss" in Spyro 3, that could arguably be harder then Spike, is beating the Yetti in boxing in 2 or less rounds.
Seriously, sometimes he just "decides" to let you win, and other times he just flat-out overkills you.

This guy is a mate of mine, and he's doing Spyro Let's Plays.

As for me, Spyro is OK, but I prefered Crash Bandicoot.

Since beating the Sorceress for the first time in Spyro 3 triggers the "revenge" thing for Money Bags, and it makes any leftover Money Bags spots disappear.... I wonder how many Money Bags locations you can skip, since the amount he gives you is based on how many times you pay him.

....Would be pretty humorous if you had a Gameshark + super jump, never payed Money Bags, and instantly got an egg from that "revenge" thing.
