Wish I could afford rFactor, or dirtFactor, rather. Is it a subscription game, like iRacing or WoW?
I like NR2003, personally. They have a mod for any motorsport imaginable on NR2003.

I think its a pay one time. but i got it from, lets say, other sources. Its a fun game with many mods, not as much as NR2003. I have the F1 1994 mod installed, those cars are beasts! but hard to handle :S

Would you kindly point me in the direction of the torrent you got it from?

Don't do it on the forum. Over pm if you must. No illegal stuff should be posted here.

I fear I may 'win' this thread, as i'm quite involved in racing rFactor online. Not super competitive or one of 'those' racers that competes for actual prize-money, but I have my own online racing team established, and for the last few years have taken part in a number of online endurance races. All of these have grids of at least 38-40 cars, all are done in real-time, and have ranged from 'short' 6-hour events, to 12-hr Le Mans races, and most recently a 24hr race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
I also paint a lot of cars for this game, although I won't post those yet incase i'm boring the crap out of you.

Posting the link isn't illegal. That's why Piratebay wasn't taken down sooner, it only provides the links for the torrent downloads. Posting the link is completely legal. Go look it up, if you must.

It is one of the forum rules though, that posting links to torrents and that is not allowed

sweet, have fun!
I cant seem to find a league that uses only the tracks and cars that come with the game. Any help?
-
rFactor is probably the game it is nowadays due to the massive amount of mods and tracks created for it. Whilst the 'stock' cars/tracks you got with the game were good, people seem to prefer newer mods with real-life tracks. But in a way it's better, as most of this new stuff is free to download. :) If there's any leagues I see that focus on the default content i'll post them here.
As for painting cars, I've focused on establishing a livery that's easily recognisable as my own team, yet versatile enough to fit onto a wide (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360260877331748&set=a.360260810665088.87512.155255797832258&type=3) range (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360274087330427&set=a.360271837330652.87514.155255797832258&type=3) of assorted (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360264263998076&set=a.360264017331434.87513.155255797832258&type=3) and varied (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=360276707330165&set=a.360275187330317.87515.155255797832258&type=3) racing cars (http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c264/dragonsteincole/DSCF1/DSC_209_resized.png). ;)

rFactor is the 2nd best ever racing simulator game ever done. iRacing is the best, though it's very expensive, which is sad. Also Richard Burns Rally is ranked 3rd, and best Rally Simulator ever. :gawe:

Oh, god, ANOTHER racing game thread?
*Sigh*
Just stick with Gran Turismo...

*I, FOTEPX and Hard Bot stand in a line, controllers at the ready*
Nah, I don't want to get RFactor because it will take up too much bandwidth.

Gran Turismo = Game
NR2003, rFactor, iRacing = Fully-moddable simulators
Game < Simulator
I'd like to see you mod Gran Turismo.

and I wont be getting rFactor because I'm into rallying.

There are certainly games that can do rallying better than rF. RBR I think being the main choice, yet I would still maintain with the right mod rFactor would provide a better overall experience, due to the fact RBR really lacks a proper net-code. I remember trying to join a league, downloading a LOT of additional crap and still having NO clue as to what i'd even done, let alone if it worked. I am not faulting the game as it is pretty old at this point and is still miles better than any rally game since, but I'd say PC racing is defined by it's online limits, or lack thereof.

Forza overtook GT as the best console racer ages ago
get the memo dude
-
Depends what console you're on. GT5 has more cars, Forza has more customisability.
But Forza wins, IMO. I was on the original Xbox, so it must be better.

F-Zero guiz

OGM so realistic.
I love how NFS Shift calls itself a sim.

There are several different mods for RBR, and they all provide online play.
-
HA just try modifying iRacing and see how quickly they ban you ;)
No modding... buutttt
Brand new free car that will be up for download in about an hour!

I know users can't personally mod iRacing, but just like you just said, they are always updating and releasing new content.

I know, I wasn't saying there was no mods for online, maybe I was unclear. I was just saying that for a complete newb to RBR, I could not fathom how to get it running and racing people online.

Okay, Question Time.
1. Is Rfactor 2's beta worth getting? Is it worth the ~£60 lifetime membership?
2. Will buying Rfactor 2 beta buy you Rfactor 2?
3. Should I download the Rfactor 1 demo before doing anything else?
4. Is it still good without a racing wheel?
-
DP.
Anyone? :<

This goes for all sim racing games, keyboard is pretty useless, because everything is on or off, including throttle, brake and steering. If you have one, use a gamepad, as they are much better for racing games and much cheaper. Xbox 360 controllers are easier to use with a PC, but I believe you can get PS3 controllers to work too.
-
When it is a sim, you need a wheel or at the very least a gamepad or Xbox controller.
