There's a very easy way to find the Cake in Portal. But ya need GMOD. Go to escape_02, and die. Then, you respawn in a room which has cake in!
Orrrr, as sage was alluding to (I think) you could just do the glitch you can find on youtube. There's a very easy way to find the Cake in Portal. But ya need GMOD. Go to escape_02, and die. Then, you respawn in a room which has cake in!
You don't need gmod.
Open the dev console, type 'sv_cheats 1' and press enter, type 'noclip' and press enter, close the dev console and then fly to the cake.
Pretty simple actually.
oh? I get these since I preordered from CDON

Steam are usually generous because they know they don't think things through. I had to reload Portal onto my computer because it died, and I needed to reactivate it using my Steam account. WHY DO I NEED THE INTERNET TO USE IT? WHY DO I NEED A STEAM ACCOUNT TO USE IT? I shouldn't have to, but Steam don't think it through. So, yeah, getting it on PS3 means you get it on your Steam account on the PC. Woo-pee-doo.
EDIT: Wait...CDON P-body is Left-handed? Whaaaa...?
yes, why do you need internet to download updates and such? what is that logic that Steam uses? oh wait, same logic i use. of course you need internet to use an online function. Steam is actually very good and pretty handy. don't know why you are so negative about it.
and heck yeah having it on 2 platforms! awesomeness!
nothing wrong with left-handed people.
I'm waiting till it goes on sale ;p
Seriously $50 is too much.
Firstly, I meant 'Why do I need to have a computer connected to the internet as well as a steam account in order to play this game which isn't about online gameplay?'
But why is it even part of getting the game?DRM.
I'd love to have a (nonfunctional hopefully) portal turret in my room <3
i can sense the nergasms approaching in 5 days
Just got and play through portal 1 in 1 go. That gave me some serious motion sickness.
While this makes it 20% cooler, the bullets hurt, and I believe the potential for death is intolerable.Yes, because I do find that death is an inconvenience.
2 HOURS UNTIL PORTAL 2.2 days according to Game.co.uk... I Pre-ordered it. £33!!!!

Well, overall I'd say a good solid 6 hours of fun, with more twists in the story than... erm... something... really twisty? When I get it and get to grips with all the new gels and cubes and stuff.
Anyway, if i had to predict the meme that would spout fr... SPACE!
(if you understand that, HI 5!)
Anyone wanna play co-op sometime?

Best game I've ever played in my entire life. Serious.

I finished it, and was surprised to see that the test chambers that were in the teasers were not in the final game.
The dev commentary on P:ST was very interesting.I finished it, and was surprised to see that the test chambers that were in the teasers were not in the final game.
One repulsion gel one was, and so was the excursion funnel one, albeit with a different look
Also, one aerial faith plate one got in
I have to say though, the only bit i was disappointed about was that there was only one personality core. I know they had good reason to cut the other 5, but I was still disappointed... (even if)
(the developer commentary is very interesting though)
I like Want You Gone better than Still Alive.
It's technically better, but I actually prefer SA. This applies to the whole game, actually. Portal 2 is better, and I enjoyed the story more, but the tests seemed a chore so I could learn moreI like Want You Gone better than Still Alive.
Same.

Of the story, especially Wheatly's ones. I never felt SA was a chore.
I will play Portal 2 more, but Still Alive was more fun for me. The co-op in P2 is great, though.

You know he means the song, right?
...
I like the song, apart from that, its overrated.

AKA you don't kill anything in it
Apart from a few thousand turrets.
Aaah, one of my favourite parts...
'This must be the part where he kills us.'
'THIS IS THE PART WHERE I KILL YOU!'

I couldn't find you.
Are you in the GTM steam group.
So you don't want to know what happens after Atlas and P-Body save science?

I do.
I've seen a preowned Portal 2 for £20 in Game, but I'm wondering if I should get the original Portal first, just so I understand what's going on. Trouble is, I've only seen Portal as part of The Orange Box with the other four games, none of which I want.Get Portal: Still Alive on XBLA.

The Orange box is better on the PC, anyway.
Does Still Alive need the Portal game to work?

Also, has anyone tried the co-op for the XBL DLC? I'm open to play if anyone wants.

Finished portal 1 :gawe: now onto number 2I did them in reverse order.
^ #2 is waaay more epic.
Its a lot more eerie then the first.. but I like it for that reason..Only like the first few chapters are like that.
Just reached Chapter 7 :gawe:
awww.. I just said I liked it like that :PDitto.
Though personally, my favorite section is the old lab area.
I want to play CoOp the first time with someone who hasnt played CoOp before either so they dont know all the puzzle solutions..
Then I will freely play with anyone else..
But I dont think I will play any CoOp until I buy a headset.. seems pretty hard without one..
On another note Just activated and cued it up on Steam to download it on my PC too :gawe:
righto.. do I have you on steam already?
How hard is it to "Direct traffic" or do I need a headset? :PThey give you a "ping tool". You just point at stuff, ping with it, and it sort of tells your partner what to do.

lol Upon watching youtube videos, I just noticed I missed heaps of dialog in "The part where he kills you" becasue I noticed the conversion gel upon landing on the platform and portal'd out straight away :PYea, Wheatley goes on for another 1 or so about reasons why you should jump into the pit.
I finally found the cake icon in Portal 2 :DGotta' love those Easter eggs.
Did somebody say a PONY farm? I'd jump into the pit right away! :gawe:lol Upon watching youtube videos, I just noticed I missed heaps of dialog in "The part where he kills you" becasue I noticed the conversion gel upon landing on the platform and portal'd out straight away :PYea, Wheatley goes on for another 1 or so about reasons why you should jump into the pit.
Boys who don't care if you have brain damage, new jumpsuit, your parents, an elevator to the surface, heck, even a pony farm.
Believe it or not but you actually get an achievement for jumping in said pit :gawe:Did somebody say a PONY farm? Though you can steal him in one of GlaDOS' early test rooms when he pokes his head out the wall :P
Does he say anything when you steal him?Though you can steal him in one of GlaDOS' early test rooms when he pokes his head out the wall :P
You can actually steal him twice.

Nope, he just loks around the room and at you.
Yes you can drop him, he also doesn't get destroyed by the Emancipation Grill. But if you take him into the elevator with you, he won't be with you in the next room.

In the test chamber with the companion cube, you can steal him again. This time it's more effective, since you can use him to stop the laser.
Yes you can drop him, he also doesn't get destroyed by the Emancipation Grill.Damn you Wheatly, and your random invincibility DX

DP: Anyone for Co-op on PC/PS3?
in game level editorDepending on how much freedom they give you, this might turn out to be a ridiculous idea.
You should do now.DP: Anyone for Co-op on PC/PS3?
any-time you find me on GTM shoot me a pm and we can give it a crack..
Do I have you on steam?
True, one thing I wish would happen though is that we can use the levels already created from the Hammer Editor. Some are just and I kinda get the feeling it would be impossible to recreate it in the new level editor (I.E. Portal Playground)in game level editorDepending on how much freedom they give you, this might turn out to be a ridiculous idea.
Knowing the IQ of a lot of the players, custom stages will range anywhere from IWBTG, to Super Bros Stage 1-1(In terms of difficulty, and appearance)
sure, I just set up the PS3 on my parents really big TV :PWell, me and JB got quite far.
So yea... If they really DO give you so much freedom in Portal 2's level-editor, you can expect a lot of joke levels that are literally impossible.True, one thing I wish would happen though is that we can use the levels already created from the Hammer Editor. PS3/PC is where it's at. Cross platform ftw!
Yeah, via Steam. That's what I did with JB.PS3/PC is where it's at. Cross platform ftw!
Wait you can play with someone on PS3 if you only have PC when it comes to Portal 2?
EDIT: 1000 post! I have now evolved into SUPER Heavyweight!

The single player wasnt too hard, just longer than the first game and all about finding the one spot you can place a portal.Yea, Portal 2 really tends to auto-pilot the puzzles, as they just generally point out where to fire and what-not.
they are going to get really wild.I'm expecting LOTS of IWBTG-esque designs.
I like how everyone else waits for someone else to get the game and play the co-op with them on Steam, whilst I just don't bother on XBL and play splitscreen...by myself...and win.
I did already finish it...but I see no reason why not...OWAIT...my Xbox is at dad's house.
Tomorrow evening
