Pokemon only count after you get Pokeballs
Uhm no. First encounter is first encounter, no matter if you have pokeballs or not. Don't have them? Too bad.

I'm doing a Nuzlocke run on Sapphire. Lets say that things haven't all gone as planned.

That's true but in order to get full info on Pokemon, you need to catch it...

And how is that relevant to Nuzlocke?

So on my regular playthrough of Ruby. Should I get a Minun or Electrike? Minun is superior, but Manectric is superior to Minun.

ATM my pokemon are around lvl 18.

current nulocke team at victory road, they're a tad on the low lvl side, so i have a bit of training before I challenge the E4

(Image removed from quote.)

I thought one of the rules of Nuzlocke was to give all your Pokemon meaningful nicknames? :trollface

Here's an interesting Emerald hack, every single pokemon is randomized (trainer's, wilds, etc.). A fun hack to do a nuzlocke on.

Download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mx94jr99x9hb6jc (you will need LunarIPS and a Pokemon Emerald ROM)
1.1 patch to fix the level 40 Furrets that appear on Route 116: http://www.mediafire.com/?bfhkuuuydlraukn

Me and 027 are doing a Nuzlocke of it, which can be seen here: http://s7.zetaboards.com/Nuzlocke_Forum/topic/8659400/1/?x=90#new

My SS Nuzlocke was ended after Lugia.

Final Liquid Crystal Team and Ratings:
Suicune Level 49 6/10: It was a late catch, but proved it's worth, by only being KO'd once
Poliwrath Level 46 6/10: It's nature set it back, but it was certainly a strong early poke, and although outclassed by Suicune later, I had loads of fun using him
Gardevoir Level 56 10/10: Zero to Hero. I caught this guy at Level 4 and he only knew Growl. Now he can destroy teams. So much difference. Also won me the entire League almost single handedly
Primeape Level 44 4/10: Never really used him much, he was OK, had a good nature, but Poliwrath was better
Golem Level 50: 7/10: My second pokemon and quite the bulky and powerful one. Had some very good early and late wins.
Typhlosion: 7/10 He was pretty good, just not as awesome as a starter can be.

Other Mentions:
Weepinell Level 31 8/10 Really good, only put in PC because I could just not find a Leaf Stone and he couldn't keep up. Still good though.
Pidgeotto: 1/10 Sucked fighting, but was good to fly on nonetheless.

Its even more challenging because i dont know any of the names of pokemon so i cant swap out for type advantage which gets me an some sh**.

Here's an RU match I got on PO (yes, that is my voice):

Hold on, What?  What game is this? Looks pretty fun, to be honest. Besides, I've been looking for a decent online game. I just can't seem to find them  anymore, and waiting for PWO is an absolute pain.
Well, i broke the rules and can't fix them. Guess who can't post? :D

The battle with Giovanni had been harder than I thought. We needed to be better prepared for the coming battle vs. Louis, my rival. Since everyone was mostly around level 46, I resolved to train them up to 50. It was Karoline, my Primeape's turn to grind. The Vs. Seeker caught the attention of a two nearby siblings, a double battle. I put Oliver, my Venusaur out second to fight with Karoline. The opponents sent out a level 39 Primeape and Machoke, about 7 levels lower than my Pokemon, so I didn't worry about my Primeape, who had just over half of her HP remaining. I told her to use Strength against the Machoke, but it left him in orange, while my Venusaur's Razor Leaf got it down to the red. The opponent Primeape used Rage, which wasn't a worry. But then, the Machoke used Revenge, now a 180 power move after STAB, on my Primeape with half HP. I watched as her health did a nosedive until there was nothing left. I had lost Karoline. My crazy Primeape from Rock Tunnel. It was tough to accept. I waited for the game to say "Karoline fainted!"...but it didn't. The Primeape sprite didn't even move. I thought my game had crashed. But as I looked closer, Karoline had a sliver of red health left, so on instinct I switched her out immediately. Turns out she had 2/128 HP. Thank Arceus. Due to her low Defense stat, there were also about three different occasions before that where a critical hit from the opponent would have killed her, but none of them did. Arceus was on my side today.

Well, that's my story for today. God Nuzlockes are scary.
