Title: Need New Games
Post by: Classicus on October 03, 2012, 03:00:14 PM
Hi, if anyone knows any games that are similar to Red Dead Redemption: Open world, missions and side missions with a lot of freedom and variation please list, I'm looking for something new for X-Box 360. Not GTA. Any ideas would be great.

What about Bully? Overgrowth (once it's down)?

Edit: Whoops, forgot you said Xbox so Overgrowth's off the list.

You should find out if Sleeping Dogs is an Xbox 360 game

It's a sort-of-GTA game but less stealing cars and humping hoes and more doing kung-fu.

But, incredibly justified, and I am almost tempted to up-rep as a result.

BOT:  Does it really have to be 360?  If you have a old PS2 then "Way of the Samurai" is pretty awesome.

Open world
Gotcha Force has open areas you can run around in.
missions and side missions
Gotcha Force has that.
with a lot of freedom and variation
Your Force's can have a wide variety of Borgs on it.
X-Box 360.
DAMN IT~
*Gotcha Force is a Gamecube game*

Hmm... possibly Morrowind (I think that was on the Xbox 360), Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 3: New Vegas, Fable (you can get it from the Games on Demand thing, I think), Fable 2, Fable 3, and possibly Dragon's Dogma. All I can think of now... even though most of them are just sequels.

Thanks guys for the suggestions I will check some out. Keep suggesting if you feel like it, I think it would be good to have a recommended games list for GTM. Sandbox and open world only. I consider RA2 to be a sandbox game.

True Crime: New York City

It was original Xbox, but I know for a fact that it is 360 compatible. It's a GTA-esque game, but in this, you're a cop. You can do illicit "bad cop" things such as plant evidence or you can do "good cop" stuff that is strictly by the training you go through at the beginning. The game keeps track of your good and bad points. Lots of side missions, tons of freedom, and very nice graphics compared to the GTA of that era. It would take forever to complete the game to 100%. I've had the game for probably six years and haven't reached 50% completion, but I don't play 24/7. I highly recommend it.

That sounds really good I might look into it. I always wanted a GTA:Cop. Thanks HA.

Forget open world and go get KOTOR (since it's on the original X Box and should probably be 360 compatible). Lots of good and bad options and good characters and a good story all round.

Otherwise, if you really are after an open world game, I'd get the 360 version of Burnout Paradise or one of the True Crime games. Maybe sleeping dogs.

That true crime was very poorly rated on Gamespot. How buggy is it exactly? Is it semi-realistic like RDR or is it cartoonish?

GTA:SA is buggier that TC:NYC. I feel True Crime: Streets of LA had comparable graphics and gameplay to GTA, which is why I prefer TC:NYC. Way more realism.

Edit:

Yeah... I just read the Gamespot review... You have to keep in mind that they play games for a living and wouldn't know a good game if it landed on their head because they're so jaded.
