Title: Need ideas for a gaming essay
Post by: RpJk on May 13, 2014, 05:12:31 PM
Title says it all. Its part of my English portfolio but I need help with ideas. I have to do 300 words and it cannot be a review about a game.
Here is so far what I have thought and the games I will be using:

1. How a game can make someone feel and make them become emotional. Game: Final Fantasy X HD

2. How games just need a good atmosphere in order to make people feel. Game: Shadow of the Colossus

3. How I feel about the rise of smartphones and the damage it is doing to handheld gaming.

Anyone got any ideas?

3) if i had to choose, 99% of smartphone games suck. the other 1% exist on other platforms.

What about 5) Gaming as a new way of education. (Like talk about how  are games used in some schools:

1] To make education fun for small children
2] To improve logical thinking (by scripting, making games, playing special logical games)
3] As a part of computer education.

i will think more to update it)

Decided to go for 2. Reason being that Shadow of the Colossus is still lingering in my mind and I still haven't finished X HD.

300 words for an essay? That's only 6-10 good sentences. Do a thousand on representations of masculinity or femininity in fighting games.

If you are not averaging 30-50 words per every sentence that you write, you, frankly, have not mastered the art of bullsh**—a technique mastered by Doctor Richard McMacIntosh, professor of linguistics and semantics at the University of Oxford Online.

When I write essays i write 10 words per sentence, more if I am giving complex thought but...

also, representation of masculinity/feminity on fighting games

>20 lines on Chun Li's legs
>20 lines on how Guile is supposed to represent the "all American badass and family man"

My teacher wants to about that much but I'm going to do 500 for fun. Also I did a 2000 word essay on my favourite game The World Ends With You which was twice is much as anyone else. Also the bloke is the type of teacher that cries after someone called him a spastic which happened twice this year.

you dont actually have to try to do well.

I did no revision for a maths test a few weeks ago, but somehow got the equivalent of a GCSE grade B.  :dumb)
