Title: Motorstorm Arctic Edge
Post by: JoeBlo on November 06, 2009, 08:25:24 AM
does anyone own it ? and if you do for PS2 can you tell me how good it is ?

I haven't bothered to spend for a PS3 yet as the Australian model doesn't have backwards compatibility and I am after another motocross game,

MX vs ATV Reflex looks like it wont make it to PS2 so I was looking at Motorstorm, personally the original one looked the best but Arctic Edge is the only one to make it to PS2

I have MX vs ATV unleashed and untamed if you need something to make a comparison, Im wondering if it meets the level of those games ?

I saw it in a shop too, but I went for PS3 version and Need For Speed Shift. I can tell you that it is very good, but when you are starting out, the steering might feel weird.
As in other vehicles have slower turning than others(bikes have very sensitive steering whilst Big rigs are very slow) and other vehicles move better on specific surfaces(Big rig moves better in mud than a Rally Car, aka not much traction)

Well I played the first 2 games and if this game is similar to those then I would highly recommend it.

its it possible to do stunts of the MX, ATV and/or Snowmobile ?

The other games you don't do stunts it's basically crash or win and the crash scenes always=win especially if your driver falls out of the vehicle and gets crushed, so much fun. For me however, I found it hard causing my opponents to crash.

Yes, I have played it, I did once a 4x Backflip!! Maybe my favourite is Buggies or ATV:s.

ATV's are easier to nail heaps of flips because you can land on the front wheels

I have done a 5x with an MX on the ski ramp on Untamed but I think it was 3x at most anywhere else

my favorites and MX's and Monster Trucks :P

use the Ski Ramp on Untamed, Suspension load off the little ramp so you land on the down side of the ski ramp then full suspension load off the ramp and a lucky landing on the front wheel :P

I would recommend trying Dirt 2 it is a little different then what you are looking for but it is truly a great game. And the graphics are amazing.

I would love to but I only on a PS2, Im a ken block fan so I have heard a bit about it.

Im not bothered on PS3 yet as the austalian model(s) dont have backwards compatibilty for a stupid an unexplained reason

for me I own 80+ genuine PlayStation 2 games so I dont want to bother buying something that wont play any of those games

If you like MX vs ATV unleashed then I would personally reccomend its predecessor, MX Unleashed. It doesn't have as many vehicles, no quads but it does have better levels and gameplay in my opinion, especially for the motocross parts. It still has the monster truck, dune buggy, biplane (Breathtaking on some of the levels), helicopter (Pain to drive), and trophy truck (My personal favorite).

well I finally brought it today

I was iffy on it, I knew the original and Pacific rift were awesome but I dont have a PS3 and I was iffy on how well it would be on a "lower" console such as PS2.

$50-$60 price tag put me off.... not that I didnt have the money, just didnt want to waste on a bad spin off game

found it in a store today advertising 50% off and it had the tag $20. I figured that was already halved.. but turns out no, so I got it for $10

and well I must say Its a pretty awesome game, probably would have been worth paying the $60 4 months ago for sure. so far I haven't come anything lower then first :P

I dont have Artic Edge, but I do have Motorstorm for PS3 and I must say using Rally cars is the best, especially if you go into the bike/ATV lanes :P

It was in the very first track you go to in this game where I tired that out, it was a cliffside route just barley as wide as my car and then it suddenly ended and there was a drop into the Truck lane, also from the cliff after the route stopped there was a branch wich hit my cars left under side quite well and caused me to do a barrel roll. Amazingly I stayed rightside up but driving a Rally car in mud isnt the fastest way of getting around the track.

I borrowed the original, then bought Pacific Rift. I've got both expansion packs and lots of free decals. I<3 Monster Trucks and Rally Cars and sometimes use Mudpluggers.

I<3 Monster Trucks

::2mad they got replaced with the stupid Snowcats in Arctic Edge...

they have a really slow top end speed and are horrible at turning a corner that is smaller then the width of an 8 lane highway

I would have loved monster trucks, btw has anyone seen the Motorstorm Monster Truck IRL?

it was part of Extreme Monster Trucks Australia... middle of last year (sort of after Pacific Rift wasnt so new) it became Taz, while in its Taz form I have been inside it and on top of it multiple times while helping prep it for a show.

Taz is part of Extreme Monster Truck Australia, as I mentioned before I have been all around and inside that truck
