Mario Kart 8
« on: July 03, 2014, 09:21:23 PM »
Anyone here play Nintendo's newest Mario Kart game from the Wii-U?

(BTW, I have an idea for a tournament. GTM's Mario Kart 8 Tourney!)

Mario Kart 8 is my favorite game of all time this month!

But seriously, I love this game. My favorite courses are DS Tick Tock Clock and Sweet Sweet Canyon for containing my two favorite things: cogs and candy! Toad Harbor, 3DS Music Park, and N64 Rainbow Road are pretty good too.

One time I was playing a 12-player game online, and there were four people playing as Rosalina for two races in a row. On the second race, three of them started in first, second, and third.

Apparently there is a Wii U Deluxe bundled with Mario Kart 8. If you can't find the bundle, buy the game and system separately. Wherever they sell a Wii U, they will more than likely have a copy of Mario Kart and vise versa.

There's also a thing going on until sometime in August where if you sign up for Club Nintendo, register your Mario Kart game, and fill out a few surveys, you can get another game for free. Of all of the ones you can choose, Pikmin 3 is the best IMO.

Yeah I know about the bundle, it's more of a case that I don't have enough money to afford a Wii U

In the same boat with this guy.

I have been pretty much glued to the Wiki page refreshing it every few seconds to see if there is any new update of knowledge.

Electrodrome or Cloudtop Cruise are my favourite new tracks. dat course and dat music.
Then there is Tick Tock Clock. Holy sh** the detailing in that is unreal.

A dislike I have is that they're trying to cram too much new stuff into the retro courses, like the gliding, underwater, and anti-gravity, and it just doesn't feel right to me.

Actually, it's pretty cool, and is very fun. What I don't like are the battle maps. They used racing maps that are used for Grand Prix instead of making or using legit battle maps. :(

Yeah, I partially agree. It was a shame because I was looking forward to some cool battle maps with new features included. I like how they brought back survival for Balloon Battle though, that's way better than scoring points.

They also disappointed me with how they did battle mode. I think it should be sort of like a regular race. Each charachter is spaced out around the track and they have to drive the track the right way and hit the guys in front of them.

^This^

But from the gameplay footage I've seen so far, it's looking really good. I really haven't seen too much on battle mode though, so I can't really judge it.

What? The Battle Mode, or the game in general? If in general, that's very surprising.
