Yes, very. If not the whole saga, just play HL2, HL2:Ep1 and HL2:Ep2. You will not regret it.

Indeed. I believe half-life is the only game series that I've actually bought. ;P

It's like a FPS mixed with Portal minus the portals.

It's the single player mode (there is no multiplayer, well, there's HL2:Deathmatch, but that's just throwing toilets at each other with the gravity gun). I'd say it's on par with Portal 2.
