When the dominant groups like the rich, the males, whites, straights, and christians feel oppressed, 9 times out of 10 it's for bullsh** reasons.  The statistics may prove me wrong, but I'd hazard that the amount of flack that girl gamers give is miniscule compared to the amount of sexist comments in CoD and the related games.  So yes, I do see where a sense of pride over being a "girl gamer" comes from, you can only be told to show your tits or get back to the kitchen so many times before you start wanting to change things.

Case in point, the black gentleman in the first video (so sue me, I only could be arsed to watch one video) gives this huge verbal smackdown to girl gamers who exploit their cleavage in Youtube videos ignoring the fact that A, it's not just girl gamers who do the exact same thing, and B, it's not even limited to girls for that matter.  Perhaps someone could explain the "No True Scotsman" fallacy to him, not everyone has the money or interest to buy every genre of game including "anal rape."  He says he respects "real n***** chick gamers" but from his video I see no evidence that he respects anyone except his girlfirend,

Hello and good evening to you.

Think of it like this:

A rookie archer draws his bow. He fires the arrow and misses the target completely. He picks up another arrow and fires again. Bulls-eye.

The arrow is the product.
The archer is the company/person that made the product.
The bow is the distribution media/method.
The target is the intended audience.

Companies make a product for a specific audience. Sometimes, it reaches the audience, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it's 50/50. Just look at My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It was designed for girls and young women, yet has a massive male fan base. Likewise, CoD has a significant female fan base (nowhere near as large as the male MLP fan base, known as Bronies).

In the end, the target audience is, in my dumb opinion, less significant than putting effort into the final product. Looking back at MLP, the Bronies don't like it just to prove society wrong; it's actually a high-quality television show and is seen by most as one of the last good children's TV shows.

Oh hey look, you fired the arrow and missed the target completely.

Much like the Xbox One, I see a lot more talk about television than I do video games.

I'm going to steal your analogy for a bit and repurpose it.

If the rookie archer is a male, nobody would ever suggest that he missed the target because of his sex/gender. The same cannot be said for a female archer. Because she's a female, people automatically assume that she is inferior at archery. If she nailed it on the first try, she would get comments like, "She's pretty good, for a chick." Male privilege is a real thing, whether you realize it or not. (Just as white privilege is a real thing.)

So basically this dude is complaining because he is JEALOUS?

Of course male privilege is a real thing.  At least I can walk down the street with no worries that I will get raped.

But female (particularly attractive ones) also have privileges that males don't have.  Like in this case, talk about a game you barely played, show some boobs and a pretty face, bam instant subs and money.  Of course, if you are an ugly woman, then you get the worst of both worlds.

Besides, it's so easily to hide your gender online that the only reason people will judge you based on it is when you decide to share it yourself.

I dunno, the videos looked like just a bunch of people talking about stuff I don't really care about, kinda like the news.

Hmm, didn't realize that all 4 videos were about the black guy.  The moment of clarity came in the second video when he reveled that he was a bible thumper.  Aha!  Now it all makes sense, what group of people is better at judging and forcing their ideals on others? (No offense to any out there).

You can't be "defending" someone when you spend the entire video being so negative.  I reiterate my earlier point that " girl gamers" have to fit his standard.  He even says that men doing CoD videos are real gamers, and women who do are

I think he secretly gets off to these "girl gamers" he bashes, people this defensive usually have something to hide.  Oh and I forgot to mention the Friend Fallacy, he's guilty of that in both videos. (that is to say "My girlfriend is a girl gamer, therefore I'm not being sexist when I talk about them")

Or it can be genuine hate, intolerance, or jealousy.

I just don't buy the whole "something to hide" argument.  It just seem like some college liberal nonsense that never holds up.

In here he is just whining about "oh I do so much real gaming, but look at those girls!  All they have to do is play 1 game, show some cleavage and get more money than me".  At one points he's even screaming "don't sub them, if you do you are a loser!  Sub me instead!"

Of course it does, we are dealing with real money here.  For some people youtube is a job.

It was the same thing among the MLP Tumblr artists.

Popularity contest, especially when money is involved (and boy did this guy repeat himself when it comes to money), leads to a lot of jealousy.  Some just can't stop talking about how much followers they have, how much they should have, how who deserve and doesn't deserve their followers, bababa, dramas dramas everywhere.

Seems like a weird job. But this doesn't seem to affect me or my well being much so I suppose when it does I'll care.

Quote
YouTube start paying after when your video got 1 million views if you are the YouTube partner. Here is the schedule payout of YouTube:

$ 0.0033/1 view
$ 3/1,000 view
$33/ 10,000 views
$330/ 100,000 views
$3300/ 1,000,000 views

First of all collect 1 million views and be partner with you tube. Then you should start your video earning.

Yes, people who can pump out video daily with 50,000 views are actually getting a stable income of $165 dollars per day.

I am just giving context to what that guy's jealous of.

Yup, and if one of those gamer girls have any technical savvy, they will know how to insert a cleavage frame into the preview.  Easy 100k views ($330) right there.

Admit it, there were at least once you click on a youtube video without even reading the title because you saw a chick in the preview.

Actually you don't even need that anymore; Youtube just lets you upload any picture and make it the thumbnail.  And it's not just partners, I have less than 500k channel views and I cna do it.

I believe he's angry because because they are calling themselves gamers when they only play COD. Basically all they do is:

1. Play COD.
2. Show cleavage.
3. Profit.

They don't love gaming like they make people believe, my sister plays more games and she isn't a gamer lol. It's like that one guy who acted disabled and played WoW (IIRC), he got a tonne of money out of that con.

Another point they were debating about was the whole name calling thing, if these girls want the freedom to show themselves in that light than guys have the freedom to call them certain names. The girl in the vid believes that women should have all the freedom and men shouldn't be allowed to call them certain names that actually fit what they are doing (using their body for money).

They are obviously stealing views from true female gamers who love games, have spent their whole lives gaming and have probably put a lot of money into what they do/love. I also don't buy into the double standard thing because guys would get called the same names if they went shirtless or even pantless on webcam, but that doesn't happen as much as girls showing cleavage.

So the problem is NOT girls gaming, it is NOT girls trying to look hot for views, it IS the fact that these girls are NOT gamers and show cleavage just for views/profit.

Girls have the freedom to wear whatever they want.
Guys have the freedom to call them whatever they want.

You can't take away these freedoms no matter what your views are, but calling yourself something you're not and making money from it is a con. They obviously target the gaming community because nerds don't get as much action so they know they're going to make the most profit from it.

Also don't say gamers can only play 1 game, we all know that's a lie and dictionary.com says a gamer plays gameS not a game.

Why do we care? It's pretty foolish to believe you can make much money off of views at the moments anyway for gaming stuff, since there are so many well established people (TotalBiscuit, Nerdcubed, Zero Punctuation, Pewdiepie) who will realistically get most of your audience. Talk about not focusing on the actual problem.

WHY DO YOU CARE
This is practically petty. Fact is, if you make videos or are a games journalist with enough quality in your videos, you would be more successful than the average "girl-gamer".
Besides, people tend to watch gaming videos based on the actual games themselves anyway; if these "girl-gamers" only play CoD or other centre mainstream titles, surely all you'd have to do is appeal to a different niche of the viewing audience.

Lastly, I don't care and realistically there aren't many reasons why you should. Stuff like this, while it may have a genuine complaint, is inevitably just going to start a rather idiotic hate train, so it would be wise not to go over the top on this one.

You clearly have no idea how the online popularity game works.

You go trash the popular people, and your channel will be trolled to hell.  You trash "girl gamers", and you get views/subs and get away with it.  Do you know his first video rant alone has 53,209 views ($175), and all 4 adds to 98739 views ($325.83)?  You call that not making much money for some stupid rant?  You are the only fool here.

That's not what I meant. Bashing Girl Gamers will probably make you more money because, as you say, it draws attention towards you. What I meant is that the supposed rationale for bashing girl-gamers is pretty foolish as they probably wouldn't get much money anyway with big name users flying around - as it stands, they'd make more money with these girl gamers around for the reason you provided, so peoples attempts to rationalise his ranting are pretty weak when he directly profits from ranting about these "girl gamers".

You will think that, but the jealousy is real.

When the popularity contest involves money (or potential money), people gets jealous of everyone who seem to be getting more than you for less work.  And yes he is probably very jealousy of those up top as well, he just can't afford to rant about it publicly without drawing a bullseye on himself.

Who cares about a bubble when you are making money right now?  This isn't a stock where you will lose everything you put in.  You can just transfer your E-popularity elsewhere when the time comes.  That's why they all have a facebook, a twit, and will continue to hop to the latest social media platform.  When shrinking ad revenue leads to the inevitable web 2.0 collapse, every online business would be screwed.  It doesn't mean it will happen in the near future or you can't make good money before that.

Point is, every business opportunity changes over time, especially with technology.  You survive by keeping up with the trend.

Oh wow, I just found this thread.

Shame on all of you. "gurl gamers" is the most boring thing, and half the people who bring it up are just using it to find a focal point for insecurity with the other sex.

Meh. better to complain about unicorns in the garden than ranting about the VAST FEMINIST CONSPIRACY.

That's pretty much my thoughts, along with the attention you get by talking about it.

Pretty pointless topic though.
