Just post about games that are underrated, and you should give raeasons why.
Hot Wheels: Beat That!
I feel like I'm the only one who likes this game a lot. It is actaully a challenge, especially with the Goals, and it had AWESOME graphics.

Hmm, this could be interesting. I'll recommend this-
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/62844Donkey_Kong_94_box_art.jpg)
Donkey Kong, on the original Game Boy.
Although some may say that it looks a little basic now (:O "Black and white graphics, heaven forbid!"), I recently picked this up, and it's a fantastic game- starts off with the original four levels from the Arcade game, and once those are completed, it reveals an extra 97 levels.
They've got clever puzzling and platforming elements, a wide variety of locations and obstacles to overcome (Including nods and elements to Donkey Kong Junior and Super Mario Bros 2), pretty awesome boss fights, and a cool selection of brand-new moves to use.
If you've got an original Game Boy, Game Boy Colour or GBA, you should definitely check it out.

About HWBT, IGN gave the PS2 version a 3.3/10. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! The PS2 verison was the best! It is a definite ceque-out if you have a PS2, X360, Wii, NDS, or PC.

If that's the best version, my expectations for the other ports aren't looking promising....
Still, how was my review below?
-
I don't really get why handheld games were black-and-white back then. The NES had color to their games. Back to HWBT, I don't understand why the NDS verison had a 6.5/10, best of any port. I had seen gameplay of each port and this had POOR graphics, whereas the PS2 verison had the best, with the X360 port having a close 2nd.

I don't really get why handheld games were black-and-white back then. The NES had color to their games.
It was due to the more limited technology available at the time- there were limits on what could be added without it making the system bigger and/or less power-efficient.
Some systems back then did have colour and backlit screens, like the Atari Lynx and the Sega Game Gear, but to accomodate them, they ate up battery power like candy (Both the Lynx and the Game Gear gave about 4-5 Hours of gameplay from Six AA Batteries), were very big and bulky for handheld systems, and were expensive, too- the Game Gear alone cost £145, whilst the Lynx cost £180.
On the other hand, the Gameboy, whilst undeniably built on simpler technology, succeeded due to its portability, reliability (4 AA Batteries gave about 12-14 hours on the original GB, whilst 2 AAA Batteries gave the same for the GB Pocket model that was released later on), excellent third-party support producing a sheer library of fantastic games to choose from, and was great value for money- £90 could get you a Gameboy, Headphones, a Carry Case, 4 AA Batteries and copies of Tetris and Super Mario Land :approve:
-
(:O "Black and white graphics, heaven forbid!")
play it on the super game boy
-
(:O "Black and white graphics, heaven forbid!")
play it on the super game boy
I know, I included that deliberately as a theoretical reaction of a modern kid to a black-and-white handheld system. I've seen it, and it provides a rather cool screen border, too :approve:
-

Although, I do have to bring up issue with this bit- the score for the DS version compared to the PS2 version would generally indicate that there's more to the game itself than just the graphics, like gameplay and things. I mean, I'd much rather have a game that was great fun but visually lacking (Just take a look at my old GB collection) than something that looked nice, but played badly.
At the same time, it's not uncommon for handheld versions of popular games to be an improvement in ways over the home/arcade versions- just like Donkey Kong, below.
-
This is getting off-topic. Allow me to get it back on:
Megaman 7 is underrated by just about everyone except spriters. People claimed the graphics looked like cartoons (which they were wrong about). They complained that the music could've been better (wrong again, not all songs are supposed to be sheer epicness and no theme) and, due to it coming out after the greatly-loved Megaman X on the SNES, was extremely overshadowed. As a game, this thing really deserved a better view. Bass (Forte) came out in this game! Megaman lived up to cool guys not looking at explosions! And have you not heard the music? Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this.
From looking, it does seem pretty awesome, and if it comes out on Virtual Console, I might get it. And yes, I think the music's pretty good, too- Bass's theme and the Boss Fight themes are the ones I most remember.
-
LOL: Lack of love

Uh, it's just repetitive and gets hard as heck as the levels go. Then you don't even get to catch the princess IIRC.
Foul language removed .... User warned

Uh, it's just repetitive and gets hard as [swear word] as the levels go. Then you don't even get to catch the princess IIRC.
Surely you should warn yourself for that one, you warn everyone else who uses the f word outside of Junkyard (well, I'm pretty sure it's you that does it...).
Either way, on topic, I am honestly not sure which games I think are underrated... Realm of the Mad God is quite a fun little free to play game on Steam (it is kind of an arcade style MMO action/RPG game. It's quite fun to play in short bursts)...although it may not come under the definition of 'underrated'. I think that Super Scribblenauts (and the original Scribblenauts, for that matter) for the DS can be classed as underrated. They are games where you write down any word you can think of (nothing rude, and no alcohol, if I remember correctly) and it will appear (in Super Scribblenauts, you can use adjectives to make new things (I loved the child and the chocolate nuke that I did a while ago))...that's really all I can think of at the moment.

Hot Wheels: Beat That!
I feel like I'm the only one who likes this game a lot.
How many times have you asked who plays or likes this game? Everytime you asked I said I play and/or like it.
Maybe I'm invisible...

Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing is pretty sexy good but I dunno about Beat That!

Hot Wheels: Turbo Racing is pretty sexy good but I dunno about Beat That!
Holy crap! How could I forget Turbo Racing? That was the most played game I think I have ever had. Did you manage to beat the Twinmill Cup? My 7-yearold self couldn't. That annoyed me so much. Best I could do was second. I did nearly win but I blew up.
What was your favourite car?
What was your favourite track?
What was your favourite song?
Did you ever do The Gooch?
Did you unlock all the cars?
[/beingyoungagain!]

Yes, I did just about beat the Twinmill cup, though it took about 11 tries.
Favorite Cars? Lakester, Thunder Roller and probably Rigor Motor
Favorite track was Road To Rustwell. Just a nice simple course. Probably Command Center after that, then Dawn Encounter.
I always liked the Primus song the best.
I have done the Gooch once, though I can't remember how.
Yes, I have unlocked all the cars.

:O Ok.
I made and can give you a strategy that usually works.
Race on the Command Center track as Lakester. Near the end there is a three-way jump over two icebergs. There is another ramp after that part just before the finish line. Maybe use a turbo on the ramp to get some speed and hold down the up on the D-pad, you should obviously start to flip. Keep holding it down when you land and you should do a few rolls. If done correctly then you will earn the maximum of 10 turbos and it will say "The Gooch" at the bottom.
Doesn't always work but does about 85-95% of the time.

Way of the Samurai (PS2) This game is brilliant and frustrating at the same time.

And that video brought back so many memories. I think I want this game again.

Ah, I remember seeing footage of it from Screwattack's Top 10 Gaming Ninjas video- looked pretty good, actually. Too bad Joe Musashi (From the Shinobi titles, which I would also recommend here) wasn't higher on the list, though.
-
Grabbed by the Ghoulies for Xbox (originally made for GameCube)

eXtreme G 3 for PS2 and Gamecube is pretty much underrated I think.

To bring this back, I'll bring up a personal favourite of mine-
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/22888Linksawakening.jpg)
The Legend of Zelda- Link's Awakening, for the Game Boy.
I'd consider this one to be one of the most underrated Zelda titles out there, but once tried, definitely ranks amongst the best Game Boy titles you'll find. As the first portable Zelda title, it's got an excellent selection of Dungeons, Locations and Items (Including the Hookshot, Roc's Feather and Pegasus Boots) to use and explore for a handheld, and brings new elements to the series, such as jumping and side-scrolling sequences, leading to very clever puzzling, action and adventure elements.
On top of that, it has nods to other Nintendo franchises, one of the Zelda series' most memorable soundtracks, and is surprisingly deep and engrossing for the system it appeared on. If you've got a Gameboy, get it. I can promise you won't regret it for a moment.

Twilight Princess is probably the best aged of them, followed by Majora's Mask, so I'd start with them.

Has Twilight Princess even had time to age?
Anyway, for me? Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast

Jade Cocoon (PSX)

Underrated games? Just about every isometric TatRPG ever

Grand Prix 3 (and the 2000 expansion) was shunned for being "too similar" to GP2. In reality, it was hilarious because the physics were the perfect balance between "realistic" and "OMGWTFBBQCRAZY".

Enslaved: Odyssey To The West (PS3, 360).
Yes it's too short & has anticlimactic ending, other than that though it deserved to get more than a 7 for these reasons.
a. the games engine renders feelings evident on the characters faces.
b. the graphics are some of the best I've seen on the Xbox 360.
c. it portrays a post apocalyptic landscape in a different light.
The only reason it didn't get a higher review score is because critics are morons (Look at the score they gave Robot Arena 2) who wouldn't know a good game if it bit them in the rear.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hPgxp90lTE&feature=related#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hPgxp90lTE&feature=related#ws)

Never heard of it but it sounds okay.
Also, you've got No Limits, haven't you (okay, I may just be judging due to your prior membership of Coasters2k but whatever)? Kickass game for the roller coaster designer types.

Just to bring this back-
super monkey ball 2
Oh yes, I've still got that one for my Gamecube. One thing I definitely liked about it was how it had fewer, but all-round better Party Games than its sequels- I mean, I'd much rather have a few really good games than loads of crap ones. Monkey Target 2 in particular was a hoot when played in multiplayer. :approve:

Shinobi, for the 3DS.

Final Fantasy IX
Vagrant Story
Wario Ware Touched
Yoshis Touch and Go
All Assassins Creed Handheld Games.

I'd say the original Starsiege: Tribes goes pretty under-noticed compared to its competitors of the time.
-
Wario Ware Touched
Ah, I've got this. Pretty good it is, too.
Talking of Warioware, I'd also like to mention Warioware Inc.- Mega Party Game$ on the Gamecube. Whilst not so much cop in single player, it's fantastic in the multiplayer modes- the "Listen to the Doctor" game in particular is hilarious. XD
-
I know pretty much everyone on this forum will have heard of or even played this game, but Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction for the PC and Xbox. For some reason, it's often viewed as the lesser brother of AoD despite the increased amount of licensed robots, better graphics, weapons with improved power, more arenas and a larger career mode.
-
Wario Ware Touched
Yeah, Wario Ware Rocks! :D

the criticism stemmed from 1 - the physics being worse 2 - the game being horribly unoptimised, sometimes lagging on the best of pcs and 3 - the house robot ai being suicidal at best, ignoring yellow and red cards and killing you sometimes way out from their corner
however, the mars level ruled

I'll dig out one of my old Gameboy titles to discuss-
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/14335mortalkombat.jpg)
Mortal Kombat 2, for the Gameboy. Whilst the other Gameboy Mortal Kombats were, for the most part, pretty crap (In particular MK4 on the Gameboy Colour), this one's actually pretty good.
It's fast, fluid, the music's good, pretty much all the special moves are in there, and improving on the shambolic "Kick him once and he dies somehow" Fatalities the original MKGB had, they've brought in some of the main Fatalities from the console games- it's undeniably a good feeling to use Scorpion's one to burn a particularly annoying opponent to death. :P
One thing that did annoy me though was that a good portion of the cast consisted of recolours, and some of the other ones were cut altogether- no Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Baraka or Raiden. That being said though, If you're a fan of fighting games, I'd definitely recommend giving it a look.
-
Crash Twinsanity.

Minetest (http://minetest.net)

Metroid II- Return of Samus on the Game Boy.
The first portable Metroid title, this one's definitely an underrated title in the series that should definitely be given a look. Good action and exploration elements, an interesting storyline that sets the stage for Super Metroid, and a slew of cool items and weapons to use- including some that were originally introduced here, such as the Spider Ball, Varia Suit, and the Plasma Beam. Of course the original items, including the Ice Beam, Morph Ball and the Screw Attack (One of my all-time favourite weapons in gaming) return too, making even just exploring great fun.
If you've got the original black-and-white Gameboy, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. Great little number, this one.
-
Ju-on The Grudge for the Wii.
Probably one of the most frightening games of this current gen, possibly one of the scariest games of all time as well.
It is a shame it did not sell well, as a sequel for it on the Wii U would be awesome especially with the gamepad.
-
Massive bump but it's on topic so I'm sure no one will mind.
Hogs of War for PS1 and PC. Probably one of my favorite games of all time.

Hogs of War for PS1 and PC. Probably one of my favorite games of all time.
I remember that one. :P
OMG YES
Love that game.
Also, Spyro a hero's tail and Brutal legend are underrated (and very, very different)

Heavy Rain told a great story through a terrible medium. For that, Heavy Rain isn't that popular.

Some pretty good Wii survival horror games that people skipped over as well as a good action game from the PS3/Xbox 360 as well.
Silent Hill Shattered Memories

i think robot arena 2 is underrated
i know most people dont know about so you build robots and you fight em
but emergency is really hard to beat
also use piglets for drive motors and make a wedge ( Naryar dies)
but in all seriousness though
dangerous creatures on the wii was a very underrated game
it had a terrible storyline but the gameplay was fun
I havent played it in a while though
it probably doesnt hold up

Silent Hill Shattered Memories

Yes, although this could be because it was my first SH game. I think most SH fans don't like it because it is so far removed from the original few, the same reason pretty much everything post The Room has been slated.
Take it as an alternate way of telling the story, like in another universe or whatever, as the devs intended and it's a great game.
