Title: Game Boy ROMs
Post by: cephalopod on January 09, 2010, 09:13:51 AM
Well, there was a load of these in the RW:ED thread, and I just found some BattleBots ROMs (always wanted to play them) so I thought a collective thread could be useful :P

I found them all online or in other threads.

These all open with Visual Boy Advance (can be downloaded as part of the Robot Wars Bundle)

Robot Wars Bundle - Credit to JoeBlo here :P (Visual Boy Advance, RW:ED (GBA), RW:AD (GBA))

Like distributing RA2 as a RAR like we do is legal anyways...

I own a physical copy of Beyond the Battlebox. It was such a huge disappointment. Sure, it's a little better than the first Robot Arena game, but it still sucks. Why are there no real physics?

Physics engines are expensive, so they just code it to work
have you ever noticed that when you fight ziggo, all you have to do is push, and he flips over?

The BattleBots games suck. The look better but the Robot wars games are better to play. I laughed so hard when I played the GBC RW game: Crasha Gnasha attacks with its tail! xD

a friend gave me a GBC emulator and over 1000 roms years ago :P

I have VBA with only the robot wars games I posted, the 2 battlebots games (I don't see any difference between them) and Kingdom Hearts

I have a snes emulator which I use legally.. that is with games I own,

I think the main difference betwee both battlebots games is the intro.

Interestingly it didn't stop Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction on the GBA having better physics then both of the console/PC games.

but all RW and BB games for gameboy suck. RW has no physics and Battlebots... I can beat the first two bots but there`s no way to beat the third.

.......

Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction on the GBA has no physics? You're kidding right? Or assuming..? :|

My tip for Battlebots - Dual Hammerspam.

Driv3r for GBA did pretty impressive 3D with physics (unrealistic physics, but physics nonetheless).

I suggest checking out the ROM. It's a lot of fun.

Impressive, although graphics look mainly like mode 7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mode_7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mode_7)), and car physics are easy to do compared to a full RB physics engine like modern games use.

Bump for a cause...

As a video game collector, I would just like to say...

Buy the physical copies! They're much more fun on the platform which they were intended!

Or buy a Homebrew cart to put GBA/DS/GB roms on so you can play them on the original console for the cost of said cartridge.

*Loves me R4, though doesn't think GBA games run on it*
