Title: Favourite Gaming Weapons?
Post by: GoldenFox93 on November 17, 2012, 07:33:10 AM
Been a long time since I've started a thread, but here's an idea I've had. What would you consider to be your favourite weapons/items in games, and why? I'll start us off with a few good examples-

Yeah I like the Scout too, all you need is good aim and it works a treat while not being some OP turd like the awp.

GunSword - Sin And Punishment
SOCOM - Metal Gear Solid
Hornet - Mass Effect 3
Zersium Rifle - KOTOR 2

For weapons that also function well as useful items, I might also add the Hookshot (From The Legend of Zelda games), and the Ice Beam from Metroid.

Maybe it's because I play TF2 too much, but whenever they're available, I've always liked using Flamethrowers, especially in Multiplayer games. I suppose it's more personal- you feel it happen, understanding the complexity of the human composition as it burns and is deconstructed into a screaming mass of burning mush.

And yes, I have one or two screws loose.

wat

it's just a looped wilhelm scream with skin burning at the same rate as the weapon and everything turning into ash immediately after death

anything more complex than that would be given a rating of r

Talking of which, that avatar reminds me...I've definitely got to mention the Metal Blade, from Mega Man 2. Undoubtedly one of the most useful weapons there!

It was the only weapon that could deliver a 1HKO to the boss you acquired it from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VTy06TCN5A# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VTy06TCN5A#)
I still like the thunder beam better.
"You'll fall victim to my Metal Danc-"

"...nope."

Come to think of it actually, it worked well on most of the Robot Masters- you could use the general strategy against the likes of Metal Man, Wood Man, Flash Man and Bubble Man. Lob some Metal Blades at those swines and call it a day!  XD

Funny thing I found out, if you don't move after the fight starts, he won't fire.
Yeah, sort of like how Crash Man won't start using his Crash Bombs until you fire at him.

"Wilhelm Scream" is a stock sound effect that you hear in tv shows and movies.  You've probably heard it dozens of times without realizing it.  It never sounds like it really fits:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YDpuA90KEY#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YDpuA90KEY#ws)

I've always liked the attack Bullet Seed from Pokemon Dungeon. It's feeble in the main games, but in the "Dungeon" universe, if you can get a bunch of enemies lined up single file, it could take them all out.

Also the Gravity Gun in Half Life, really forces you to improvise with your environment.

I know about the Wilhelm scream, I just didn't know what Pwn meant with it in that context.
