Which do you perfer?
Eastern or Japan-Made RPG's (Final Fantasy, Xenoblade, Dark Souls,) or Western or anywhere else made RPG's (Fallout 3, Dragon Age, Mass Effect)
Edit: What I meant was Turn-based RPG's/Throw into separte screen where the battle takes place (Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy) or RPG's in the style of Fallout, Mass Effect etc;
-
RPGs with a good storyline
-
I have no preference, I enjoy both varieties for various reasons, I've never really cared for either definition of Eastern/Western RPGs, I just enjoy the games.
-
Western RPGs on the whole. KOTOR and Mass Effect probably were the main causes, but I guess I really liked Paper Mario (which was developed by Intelligent Systems who I think are a western developer) so that may be another reason.
Most JRPGs I've played have good settings but extremely stereotypical or shallow characters with not much humour. KOTOR on the other hand had nicely varied character behavior, while Mass Effect had nice interaction between them. I think that is what defines an RPG, since if you wanted to just item acquire most action games are superior (or you could just grind Diablo).

neither.

Western RPG, of course.

Don't you play Skyrim or something :P

I think so,too

I just prefer good games, though western RPGs would probably be my favourite overall.
Fallout 3 is one of my favourite games of all time.

I'm not a huge Bethesda fan myself, though Fallout 3 is my favorite of their games. I prefer Obsidian (perhaps including New Vegas but I haven't played it yet) and Bioware (though I find myself slightly less appreciative of their works; KOTOR 1 has a nice story line but KOTOR 2 is a lil better overall in that department).

I dunno, I like D10/D20/D30 systems the best but I like a bit of each.

I found New Vegas a major disappointment, the lack of progress between Fallout 3 and it is shocking.

Keep in mind that it was a change in developer.
Also I think it was impossible not to laugh at Muggy or the Toaster if you've seen the DLC.
I'm not really an open world game fan, which is why I find Skyrim boring (and well the characters are bland, conceptually it's unoriginal, the combat isn't very good, the quests are boring for the most part, ect, ect.).

Since the only RPG I play is pokemon...
I honestly have no idea. :P
-
Western (and not just because I'm American).
I prefer the exploration element, but not too far into "sandbox," because it tends to give a really good story. (Fallout, Half-Life 2, etc.)

Half Life 2 isn't really an RPG, it's just an fps with more story elements.
