Title: Advice for cleaning Game Boy Advance games?
Post by: Gazea2 on August 29, 2010, 03:22:04 PM
One of my games (Pokemon Emerald) for my Game Boy Advance has stopped working. The game plays fine but when I save it, it deletes the save.

I've heard of lots of different methods for cleaning them out but I was wondering whether anyone has tried them and has any advice? Thanks.

I don't think it's dirty, when it's dirty it normally doesn't get past the GAME BOY screen when you turn it on. I reckon you've done something with the game's ROM chip, because exactly the same thing happened to me with my copy of Pokemon Gold.

the battery is empty. The older gameboy games (Super Mario, Tetris, ...)don`t have batteries. That`s the reason why you canot save those games. later the games (Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, Pokemon RBY, ...) got those batts.

you will have to replace the old one with a new one and it will work again.

hope this video explains it, havn`t watched it.

@NFX - The ROM chip.... That reminds me, my older brother did a lot of cheats on it... Maybe that's why.

@Thyrus - That video is for Game Boy Colour games. Are Game Boy Advance games the same or will I have to do something different?

I`m not sure but I think the use either the same battery or an accumulator to save the games.

Qtip and a bit of cleaning solution on said Qtip should do the trick.
