Tibsy's DSL Amalgamation (Showcase)
« on: January 28, 2015, 10:01:14 AM »
I decided to stop neglecting DSL and start working on some bots to show off.
Be warned! I'm not as good at building bots on DSL as I am on Ironforge, (well tbh I'm not even good on that LOL)

Well, to start off being totally unoriginal in terms of ideas.
Here's a Beetleweight version of Raven: Squawk! (Which I have entered in one of Badnik's tournaments, though without the Typhoon spikes!

Adorable, but just as deadly. I reused a skin for Raven which was created by the talented Lemonism! (thank you!)

I saw that MassimoV was hosting another BattleBots tournament and after watching BattleBots 9 I thought I'd have a go.
One for every weight category (except SHW... I'm still working on that)

To be honest, I'm classing myself as cannon fodder for this tourney xD

My entries:

Barney will probably do pretty decently. Just make sure the wedge follows the rules.

Cerialisation looks amazing though. I want it to do well.

MassimoV said that if the skirt hinge was raised up by one, it's not against the rules. But if he asks me to get rid of it, I'll angle the beater bars down.

And thank you. Funnily enough I didn't really think what to do with Cerialisation.

If you are adding a wedge to a LW HS you need to make sure your drive is sufficient. Else the recoil of the flipper will mess you up.

The MW looks badass. However, killalot claws have normals and are only decent damage-wise, so expect to be disappointed by the damage potential.

The HW I like. It is however woefully underweaponed. Are the Vladiator lifters static or are they flippers ? Any way I don't think you're gonna go under a lot of bots like that.

I'm going in as cannon fodder. It'll be a learning curve and yes the Vlad spikes are lifters.

Anyway I think I'll be just fine. Cheers though.

badass
frenchie swore pls ban

Barney looks pretty ugly aside from the skin which I like.

Digitus looks solid aside from the way that the killalot claws are attatched to the DSL bars. That one part looks odd and flimsy, however the skin makes up for it and then some.

Serialization looks good for a simple design. I especially like how the hammer rests on the back of the chassis.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

It's only there for good looks. I'm a music student and I don't find it bothersome... o.o

I'm a former music student and I find it bothersome. Aside from that it looks pretty sexy.

A new bot I've made with claws but... I need some help with the skin

Should I give it a realistic look? (Proper fur textures, cat face etc)

Or keep it cartoony? (cartoon cat face, tail, solid pink 'fur' colour)

My favorite way to give my bots realistic skins is to put colors or textures over metal textures and then mess with their opacity.
