yes it does, but IRL a slot could be cut through the plate. You can see Thyrus tried to to that with his skin but they're off by a bit.The gut ripping discs seem kinda cheap, other than that it's pretty cool.

You could use a .tga with transparency to skin the front plate and make actual slots.
