Intro
-Well, I'm new here. My first post also. I started using RA2 DSL a few days ago. I have gotten used to it, But my designs are wearing down. Just like the picture above. It works efficiently with a few problems though. But I'm looking for some tips from some robot building pros. Cause all my designs don't seem to work for me. Mostly they just have the worst layouts. I liked playing RA2 for the first time also. But anyways, Tips please?

[INFO ABOUT THIS BOT -Dark Extractor-]
Dark Extractor was kind of like a robotic scorpion on wheels. The Spinning Disc with the small DS teeth? Was supposed to be run into a robot's front at high speeds. But, It turned out weak for doing that job. The 2 hammers were supposed to swing onto the side of a bot to crush it with lots of power. It worked well, but it did little damage.

[More TO Come]

P.S All The Robots I built Turned Out To Be Heavyweights. I need Help On Component Use.

Are you using custom motors for the drive and disk? If so, do not use custom components anymore. They are considered cheating and people do not generally like them.
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

I don't use custom components. I use stock components. Here is the Inside of the RObot.

Don't use stock components in DSL.

1. Take out the axles and switch them for NPC Fasts
2. Don't use the square extender, use a polycarbonate or aluminum one.
3. Use Tornado wheels, there lighter and have much more grip than Mud tires
4. Never use angle connetors or anchors. Use Multi-Extenders
5. WWWWAAYYYY underpowered, put in another battlepack and a few ant batts.
6. Remove the ballasts
7. The spinner should have a Perm or TWM motor

Also, look at other people's showcases. Take a good LONG look at their bots.

I'm guessing that the small motor is a cheatbot2 part in DSL, which is a nono.

Triton that was uncalled for...

First off StoneHead let me personally welcome you to GTM :-D

next thing, those little axle motors that seem to be the hot topic, I have had an issue with DSL 2 before were it can show parts it isnt supposed to, my guess is that your experiencing the same problem

so grab this https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1396 its a complete DSL 2.1 ready to go, just extract and play, no need to copy files or install, anything you find in that game you can use

Best of luck with that, I hope to see you stick around

:-D

If what you're saying is that those parts are available in the bot lab instead of hidden, like they should be, then I'm guessing then that you didn't install the DSL mod correctly.  I can't think of another reason why the cheatbot2 parts aren't hidden in your bot lab, other then that you made them so.

If that is not so, then try to stop using cheat parts altogether, you wouldn't gain a lot of respect by doing so (please spare him Nary).

Edit: Dammit JB you beat me :(
