Shinkioh's Pieces of Junk DSL Showcase
« on: March 30, 2013, 06:15:43 PM »
This is my HW bot, Dirge. The only bot I build to not have a cheatbot part. Dead Zone uses one so I didn't think it was right for me to put him here. Oh and sorry, no snazzy paintjob. I have zero clue how to make decals. The inspiration is Mortis and the RW flippers like Gravity. The pickaxe weapon was added as an afterthought. I was gonna use the razor tip but they were too fragile. But the pickaxe also serve on discovered purpose, preventing the flipper from getting stuck through the floor from the Havok physics. I can show a video of its previous rendition. It never had exposed wheels at the back before but I put the wheels back so it won't get stuck on its back or side. Oh and it has 5mm Steel armor. But yeah. Enjoy my pieces of ****s that won't survive in those online tourneys or something. :D

Not that bad IMO, just replace the brown battery with Ants, why? Ants are better and lighter, believe it or not.

badnik is going to look at that first bot and say "HAY YOU SHOULD DO IRL". im calling it right now.

but yes, you want to make it better? get rid of the 4WD. 2wd npc fast with techno wheels serves fine as a drivetrain.
get rid of the fragile flippermaker holding the strong skirt
if you dont know the general rule is 1 ant per spin motor despite what the descriptions say. burst motors DO have to be fully powered however.
try to get some more weapons on the hammer, try razors or light doublesided teeth.
get some wedges on there, nono not a chassis wedge. i am talking like a metal hinge (alternatively a skirt hinge using the center attachment point can be used if you are low on weight) with a skirt or halfsheet+small wedge

thats the stuff i can come up with off the top of my head. also, hi!
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

of course now that awesumsauce has called it im not gonna do it

oh wait i feel obliged to

HAY YOU SHOULD - no

Either way you should definitely shrink the chassis some and get at least four ant batteries in there to power the drive. The black batteries can stay for the burst motor power. Also, exchange the green control board for a blue one, it's lighter.

Oh, really? Ant batteries can power the drive motors even the best motors, the NPCs? Cool.

Okay, question. So, what cheatbots parts are normally allowed? Cause I use a DDT Burst Motor in some of my lifter bots and the Slow Lifter Snapper Motor as well.

Most people could care less if you use them as long as they are not for tournaments or contests.

I WASNT THE ONE TO SAY IT THIS TIME AWESUMSAUCE TAKE THAT

yeah if you want to build IRL, then yeah most cheatbot parts are acceptable. If you want to build like an efficiencyfag and spam 400kg of weaponry on every bot then Cheatbot2 is completely taboo.

Oh no, I'm just not a very active person. I got several things in my head going on I might not pop up a lot but eh who knows.

Also, skirt hinges? They never work out for me. Mostly cause I didn't know how to make 'em work. I always bounce on top of the other bot instead of being under them. But I guess I can change the shape of the chassis. It dooooes look like a comfy chair with wheels.

Armor huh? Hm. What's the usual standard for each weight classes?

Oh and a spinning disc on treads. Inspired from Cyclone Raptor. TERMINAL DESTRUCTION. Okay it's a mouthful. Its name is Terminus but I think that name has been used countless times by now. So, I'll just go with that. Teeth is fragile but it does wreck sh** aaaand caused a Havok explosion so bad that it sometimes get stuck through the floor or get it and its opponent flung into the air and stuck through the roof.

And here's a vid of it. lol Havok

I can't have been the only one who thought the chassis was a big smartzone. Regardless I like it, the only hole I can see is the fact it uses locking motors, which is something you can't really change if you want a stable tracked robot.

In general, the worthwile armours are Tite5, Tite3, Steel1, and maybe Steel10 if you really need to kill weight.

use razors, matilda teeth have normals (AKA they only cause damage when hit on their tip) and generally dont cause as much wreckage as 9000 razors do.

Drugs. You're doing them. Don't lie.

It's horrible by DSL standard... standards, it's bad at best by IRL standards.

The tank treads look out of place, the disk needs extender support or else it's not IRL, you only need an ant per spin motor and use the blue control board instead of the green one.

Otherwise, I like what you did with the dsl bars and the tank treads.

Disclaimer: This IRL advice I'm giving you, not DSL standard. Two different things.
