Still badly powered

a pure HW flipper like this needs a good wedge, good armor, decent speed and good flipping power. You need a faster bot and stronger armor.

you need 8 PC625's and nothing more.
This is often why I question the use of Betas on flippers, since there are tonnes of compromises necessary for a burst that capable of hit too easily and that has levels of power that are often unnecessary. I'd stick to Bsgs or small JXs personally.

Bsg's aren't powerful enough.

Or maybe I didn't add enough power...

Oh, BSG's are powerful enough. You just need 6 of them to flip stuff well.

How did Smashbox 2 manage to get it to work so perfectly? I used 4 Mags and all it did was give it's opponent a slight lift.

And good luck with making that IRL enough. :P

No, just no, 4 was enough trouble.

Now I'm wondering, if, and this is a big if, I do manage to make a bot that flips other bots OOTA for BB7, will Massimo DQ it? Or is it legal?

Personally I'd say it's a little overkill, just enough to make them fly around the arena would be better, could use the additional weight for more armour, batteries for longetivity, or aesthetics.

I'm trying to make a bot that has so much force that it can do damage to the opponent when it fires it's flipper OR when the opponent lands.

Would this be possible to achieve?

You can't do noticeable damage via bot-to-ground or bot-to-bot collision. Best you can aim for is 100 dmg max or something in these waters.

The closer thing you could make would be a wammer/flipper hybrid. although you would need to put a timer on the flipper so it doesn't fire too fast.

Or a popup, but that's more than "damage" in that case, more like "completely destroy"

Yeah. Really with Flippers they're only efficient if you can OOTA stuff, in pretty much any other situation they're useless (cept maybe against some HS, SnS and Sheck spinners, but not many of the good ones).

What these guys said, and the only way they can be effective is against bots that aren't invertible using the newest Flipper.py- but with lots of invertible bots and bots that can self right if you tip them (gyroing, srimechs etc.) it's not really reliable any more.

Spike Strips and/or Beater Bars. They're the best route to take when building flippers in a non-OOTA arena.

I like to use Spike Strips with some sort of tooth on the top. It does a lot of damage. I haven't made many flippers, but when I do I use Spike Strips.

all about the leverage man

The way Mike had it set up gave it the perfect angle to really flip things.

1) Don't use mags, they're no more powerful than BSGs and use more power.
2) If you want a weaponed flipper, for the love of everything DON'T use spike strips. Please. My brain melts.

use lightning spikes or whatever else fits the theme of the bot. feel free to use some spike strips but don't rely on them for damage

Weaponed flipper should be built out of iron spikes and large beaters in DSL2. Spike strips aren't too bad but... normals.

also, anyone who considers the cutting and ripping teeth good weapons is completely clueless. That is all.

I used it in one of my old bots, and it actually worked well. It would cause a lot of damage coupled with the spikes and it was really consistent in terms of throwing a bot.

The teeth are awful for damage. Even replacing each one with a razor would cause more damage. I really, really recommend you try making a generic 'popup' design using razors, maybe even iron spikes, then say that spike strips and teeth cause lots of damage.
And this is coming from someone who doesn't even build popups. It's just common knowledge.

It wasn't really for damage, it was more for being able to position the bot to get a better flip.
