Right im gopnna be pisting some of my bots. Be warned, my bots are not like others, mine are realistic.
Smash
Smash is my flagship bot, in stock RA2 it has gone through a lot of modifications and hopfully will continue through DSL.
2 Astroflights for drive. (Please bring back the HP-Ztek)
Tminus snapper for the Smash Hammer.
4 or 5 black batteries.
Steel armour
Middleweight.
-
That's pretty cool. Maybe we can have a little online match sometime.

I might have to get some bots ready.

New Bot!!!
Would you want a hug from Want A Hug? I initially wanted this to be a lightweight (it would be with aluminium) so it is a middleweight (249.8)
2 Slimbodys for drive
1 TMR3R thing for weapon drive
2 Little black bats
Aluminium armour
-
Small and simple. How much does it hit?
-
Small and simple. How much does it hit?
Umm.... It hasnt been tested yet.
-
Another new bot.
Kill Sawz
Kill Sawz is a hard bot to explain, read the details
2 Daul E-Teks
6 Batle Packs
Steel Armour
Heavyweight
2 Kill Sawz
I think you can see what this bot does?
-
Woow nice :o a drum bot.
-
Kill Sawz is pretty cool but it looks like it would be hard to control. Some supports sticking out front and back might help.
Want a Hug is a good design. Looks solid, fast, and powerful. Flails work better when they rotate on the same plane as the motor though (like on Weedy's Spike Beetle and my Microfuge).
-
Kill Sawz is allmost impossible to control, when it wants to turn i have to wait til the body is pointng in the right direction or it will go the opposite way. And the stablizing legs will just be ripped off.
-
NEW BOT!!!
Buttocks.
Dont let the name fool you, Buttocks is a flipper sort of bot but not in the conventional way. The picture demonstrates.
It flips from underneath so the chassis does the flipping, not the DSL bars.
Stats...
Armour: Aluminium
Weight: Middleweight
Drive: 2 NPC Fast motors
Weapon Motors: 2 of those green snappers (not the T-Minus ones)
It has around 4 battlepacks.
-
Aand is that good flipper?
-
If that robot is called buttocks, you need to add one more thing to it ..... the flamethrower.
Someone did a series of bots called "Big Butt", and I laughed mine off when i saw them. the only thing that was missing which I HAD to add was a flamethrower out the back. I'll see if I can find a pic or two of the "new" version ....
-
Aand is that good flipper?
Nope, it can hardly lift a crate let alone a bot.
-
Its been 3 years since i have posted a bot here...
I made a new bot in the Smash series of bots. This one is more of an Armour test mule that a fully fledged combat bot.
Sadly, it isn't much of a good bot.
-
Naryar. Field day.
-
I like it.
Really damn cool.
-
I like it.
-
One of the coolest looking bots I have seen ever.
-
Hmm... That Would make a good Test bot for DSL 3...
-
thats really really cool.
-
Like a mini tank.
-
Maybe a good BOTM bot.....
-
I've been playing about a bit with heavy armour bots...
What i tried doing is minimize chassis size while trying to cram as much stuff on as possible.
Its powered bt 4 Geared E-Teks, with a few battlepacks inside. 1mm or 3mm Titanium armour for chassis defense and weight saving. Then the outside is armoured with several shel parts and a DSL Bar.
It managed to stand up to a good beating in a battle with Grog the Vengeful.

That looks so cool. How much damage does it do?
-
Not enough to be a threat to anything.
-
That's because the iron spikes keep the sledgehammers from hitting anything. I bet if it was modified it'd be real damaging.
-
Gigawatt DSL2 2b clone...
Use more iron spikes rather than these sledgehammers and grippier wheels - like Vladiator's. If they're too small, then use Tornado's.
-
If only it hit as good as it looked good.
-
They dont exactly look "Good" but heck yeah they look intimidating and super dangeous :P
But good but cool :O
Just remove some of the less important "Armour Plates" to add more Space For Weapons or Weapons :P
Luved the First one <3
-
You ain't good enough to give advice.
Can you post the weight?
-
I cant give those s00p4h technical advies, But i can say... Obius things, Like it only has 4 spikes & its full or armour..
-
He actually has a point, S32. He won't know the advanced stuff, but basic things like lack of weapons are in anyone's early grasp.
-

Gigawatt DSL2 was my inspiration.
Maybe i'll edit the bot in the future with more spikes and so on.
You ain't good enough to give advice.

It weighs 798kg or something.
-
Insides would help.
-
QUIT BUMPING...
DO YOU NOT KNOW WHERE THE DATE IS?!?
-
I really hoped Pressure was back and posted something...
But NO.
-
New bot time!
For some reason, i named this bot "Oswald".
Armor is 1mm Titanium (i think) to keep it a Middlewieght.
Hinged wedge to ease bots onto the disc. A piston to help with self-righting (it doesn't work as planned).
I know there is alot of wasted space, but this was one of the first bots i made when returning to RA2.
-
I might not be that much of a DSL builder, but I guess I can give you tips! Eliminate empty space, shrink the chassis. What's the air tank used for?
-
The Airtank is for the piston, which is mentioned in the post.
-

It has a piston for a srimech. An interesting idea... but probably is quirky and unpredictable. I would think you might be able to ditch the piston/airtank and replace them with a couple of snapper styple motors to flip the thing back onto its wheels. The design look like it would fare well with that modification.
Good to have you back Pressure. Make some more bots, get addicted again :P
Edit: aw crap... pressure cleared up the airtank question first.
-
Good to have you back Pressure. Make some more bots, get addicted again :P
Hope i can stay longer than i did last time...
Maybe i will have a go at modifying the bot in the future. Think im gonna focus on getting better at building new bots first though ;)

Last time I saw a bot use it it was one of LRA2's. Can't remember which.
Simply put, it didn't work. Then again, it was a single Storm piston on a heavyweight.

I believe it was S.P.A.R.K. Fought it (and uber pwned) a month or two ago.
-
nice to see old members returning
there are flaws in that bot but Im not the kind of person to dwell on those, instead I want to say great job on making a robot that really "captures" VS
the disc coming out of the chassis, 2 teeth on the disc, it may not be the most powerful robot but it certainly looks good ;)
-
^ Thanks ;)
I am a bit of a stickler for some kind of realism, so i tend to try make the bots look realistic. I find it very hard to make a bot that can possibly win a tournament though (i.e Those multiple Red-Bird spinners from the BBEANS4 i think, the small bots).
-
Weapon and drive are unsufficient.
Oh and you don't need a WP836E for that... 4-5 ants are enough, and ditch that piston srimech idea - it's a better idea, by far, to make your bot self-right with the weapon.
-
(http://pic.phyrefile.com/l/lo/loz/2010/01/19/Smash_Revolution.jpg)
Possible BBEANS 6 entry.
Now the basics.
2 Battlepacks to suffcient power (battery drains reasonably quickly.)
2 TWM Drive Motors.
1 Double TWM for the Sheck (It's sufficient enough to spin it, for a lightweight.)
3mm Plastic for weight saving.
And the rest can be seen in the pictures.
I am working on some other lightweights for possible entry.
-
You can perfectly do it with 3 (or 4) ant batts.
Nice weapon choice though... not a lot of them however...
-

I had to sacrifice 4 panels and spikes to save weight unfortunatly.
I'll try the 4 Ant Batteries and see how it goes.
-
Say there Rotary-nut! I like that bot. How does it fare in battle? I have never attempted a LW FBS before. I figured that the bot would be too light to keep stable. When it lands a solid hit, does the bot reflect back a lot because it is so light?
-

I fares rather admirably in battle. Doesn't really get flung around, but it does tend to Mauler Dance a bit.
P.S. Those Ant Batteries seem to pack a little more punch than the two Battlepacks it had before.
-
That is because ant batteries are charged with awesome.
-
:)
A prototype bot. Untested as of yet.
It pretty much has the same innards as Smash Revolution.
-
ooooohhh I like
-
Nice, however that motor has really low HP.
-
well, you will probably need something to protect the motor, as I can see it being ripped off.
How much does it weigh, and what armour do you have on it?
-
The motor seems fine for spinning a saw blade.
It weigh's 246KG or something, and has the same armour as Smash Revolution.
It's only a test bot, so it will probally be improved over time.
-
Horizontal sawbots arent that good IMO, maybe use a 50cm black disc with small DS teeth.
-
55kg motor for a less-than-20kg sawblade is overkill.
Horizontal sawbots arent that good IMO
Understatement. They fail.
-
well he's testing a design, *cough* and is not finished *cough*itoldyouiwasnottheonlyone *cough*
personaly I like it, and maybe he was just building a sawbot for realism
-
Kid i'm going to say it again, but first GET DSL, become a decent builder and then you might know what you're talking about.
I like horizontal sawbots as well, but the problem is that they DO fail in combat.
-
that's what I was saying
that's all I was saying
-
(http://pic.phyrefile.com/l/lo/loz/2010/01/21/Smash_Revo_Speedbird2.jpg)
I edited Smash Revolution and Speedbird a bit.
Smash Revo V1.1 now has beater bars in-place if the Lightning Spikes. They seem to fare a bit better in battle.
Speedbird 2 has had a major revidion since Speedbird V1.2 (It had an ineffective disc after the saw blade). It is now a VS with thicker armour (5mm Plastic rather than 1mm).
None of the innards have been changed to warrant an inside picture.
-
While beater bars are better than Lightning spikes, in your design they make for bad panel coverage... You risk having your panels ripped off before the weapons are.
-
What would a better way of mounting them be? Possibly upright?
-
Probably upright, or extending from the chassis... still i don't think these are a good choice in such few numbers.
-
Hmm... I'll try them upright, but will also try some of the other spikes ect.
[EDIT] I tried 4 Large Beater Bars, they seem to perfrom pretty good. HAd to sacrifice a battery, but it still has plenty of juice.
-
put a wedge on Speedbird 2.
-
(http://pic.phyrefile.com/l/lo/loz/2010/03/22/3_Bots.jpg)
3 bots made for a possible BBEANS6 entry.
Some extra facts.
Flare - The first of the concept bots, and my first Flamethrower bot. In order to get the wheels armoured, the two DSL bars on the side are attached with Beater Bars, in the hope that when the Flamethrower had done it's magic, either them or the Spike Stripes would finish it off. It failed.
Precision Impact - Was called Gymnologise (Ancient Greek for "To debate while naked"). Besides Smash Revolution LW, this is a serious candidate for BBEANS6. Weighs 249kg, with Spinner Sections on the top, front and rear. Tends to do fairly well in battles, weakness is not being able to self right.
The Bot With No Name - An idea that i thought would work, but didn't. It didn't cause enough damage to even get close to destroying the opponent.
-
TBWNN2 would be better with Piglets and Irons.
-
New bot time ;)
The next Precision Impact.
-
Your bots have a certain look to them that I like alot.
I think it has something to do with that they are not small boxes with a Perm and a DSL bar on a pole attached.
but maybe you could upgrade the armour to make it nearer the weight limit. (Aluminium has bad strength to weight ratio)
-
<3
-
Chewblades = mostly fail, and hammers like this make it unrealistic.
Did you get my armor fix in the NAR AI thread ? Without it, Alu armor sucks.
-
I now its a little late but I <3 Flare lots and lots :gawe:
-
And armour from NAR AI makes bots comletely illegal in DSL tournaments.
-
Very good point since the Armour value is written in the bot file
-
And armour from NAR AI makes bots comletely illegal in DSL tournaments.
Why don't we all legalize 60 HP/kg armor ?
-
I really like these bots. On the first one, if you still want a saw bot, I would exchange the chewblades for the other type of sawblades. On the drum and hammer's, I'm not sure but I think the aluminum skirts won't let the bot come in closer to the weapon. I like your style a lot.
-
How can armor be checked?
-
There is a line in the bot file that stands for chassis armor.
-
Never woulda guessed. Which one?
-
There is a thread in the forums with it in. It shouldn't be posted again.
-
It's very close to the start of the components - here, DSL 2.1's Second Sentinel
2 30 0 1750 0
^^ That is Steel 3 ^^
2 is the number of armor (0 = plastic, 1 = Alu, 3 = T,i 2 = Steel), 30 is the weight, 1750 is the armor strength and you need two zeros placed like this.
You can see them all if you decompile ra2.cfg and open up Armor_Definitions.
-
You're not supposed to tell them that!
-
Exactly, now we are going to have a load of over 9 billion HP bots everywhere!
-
Why ? It's cheating if it's stronger than the best armor available :P
And we should rebalance the stock armors also.
-
No, we should leave them alone.
-
Exactly, now we are going to have a load of over 9 billion HP bots everywhere!
Bleh. It's easy to counter should they be entered in a tourney. Just change the super armor to the legit counterpart. (Unless the weight multiplier was changed, which means the closest-by-weight armor possible should be chosen)
I think people can make a good judgement on what is overly strong or overdeveloped for the robot's class, too, should it be showcased.
-
Thanks Nary. I'll check all of that for COTT to try and snuff out your armor fixes ;)
-
Thanks Nary. I'll check all of that for COTT to try and snuff out your armor fixes ;)
NOOO!
It'll make your bots illegal!
-
(http://pic.phyrefile.com/l/lo/loz/2011/07/24/judgement_bot.jpg)
I was thinking of continuing the "Smash" lineage with this bot.
-
It was said 4 years ago, And I'll say it again.
Nice.
-
Neat, IRL Realistic and it looks cool.
-
Different wheels maybe?
I do like it though

Battlebots 5 entry for MW.
-
...oh. Just when I'd posted a MW Flipper. Makes mine look like crap.
-
...oh. Just when I'd posted a MW Flipper. Makes mine look like crap.
No, yours just looks more Robot Wars =P
But seriously, this very robot has just given me doubts on whether or not to enter BB5... lol
-
Looking very, VERY nice there. Looks a bit like a stealth fighter jet or something.
-
Sweet.
-
Damn that looks neat.
-
Awesome. You are like another Thyrus.
-
he was here before thyrus iirc
i love that bot so much, what's the flipper? a half sheet or a skirt?
-
He was here waaaay before Thy. Anyways that's awesome. Will probably kill my MW.
-
Good to see everyone like it :)
i love that bot so much, what's the flipper? a half sheet or a skirt?
It's a Halfsheet.
-
Might wanna swap it for a skirt, it has more hp for near enough the same weight.
And it kinda reminds me of 8645T in a way
-
(http://i.imgur.com/sSsl9.jpg)
Inspired by Ruiner and Hazard. Also my second go at BFEing.
-
Looks great. I love your bots.
-
That's really nice. Like the weapon setup.
-
like it!
-
very nice looking.
-
Looking very nice. Is the motor angled, or is it straight? I can't quite tell from the picture.
-
by the looks of it it's angled
it looks very nice :D
-
It is angled only very slightly. The first version had it flat, but was a bit high to hit some bots.
-
(http://i.imgur.com/o6Xfi.jpg)
Yes, it's underweight, but it was either that and some agility or more armour and less agility with the Astroflights.
-
Sweet...
-

Yes, it's underweight, but it was either that and some agility or more armour and less agility with the Astroflights.
You're really too good at this, Pressure.
-
Fantastic. Reminds me of You Ruined It from NQRW2 a little bit. I do like the design a lot, but the weapons don't intersect each other at all, do they?
-
Bot lab screenie shows they don't.
If only those wheels had yellow rims as well. XD
-
Aren't Astroflights a little... Slow? Y'know, considering it's a MW... I'd have Slimbodies on there, at bare minimum.
-
Aren't Astroflights a little... Slow? Y'know, considering it's a MW... I'd have Slimbodies on there, at bare minimum.
Weight and possibly space for mags on that.
-
yeah, it is kinda slow. Slow but powerful...
-

Weight and possibly space for mags on that.
The chassis is just too low for Mags.
-
(http://i.imgur.com/kN1SO.jpg)
Possibly my next IRL type tourney entry.
-
that really looks awesome
does it really weigh 288.3 or is that a typo
-
Nicely done there. I like that tail especially. Not entirely certain about the exposed motors, but I suppose they work.
-
that really looks awesome

It really does weigh 288.3kg... I don't think weight matters as much with IRL style/tourneys. Look at Billet 3 in BoF2, it waaaayyy underweight and it finished 3rd.
Nicely done there. I like that tail especially. Not entirely certain about the exposed motors, but I suppose they work.
The motors are a bit of a compromise really. I tried to get some Astroflights under the motor so the wheels would be shielded, but the way the motor is positioned made it impossible.
-
Possibly my next IRL type tourney entry.
you could send it along with a hw for war of the giants ;)
-
Looks cool. try giving it stronger armor to eat up the weight?
-
Possibly my next IRL type tourney entry.
you could send it along with a hw for war of the giants ;)
You mean SHW right? Anyways I really like the back wedge.
-
Possibly my next IRL type tourney entry.
you could send it along with a hw for war of the giants ;)
You mean SHW right?
mw (280 kg) + hw (800 kg) = shw (1080 kg)
it'd be slightly under weight if he doesnt bulk up the mw though
-
New bot!
If 2L2Q3 happens, this will probally be my entry for the IRL LW division.
-
What drive does it have and i'm guessing that's a mag snapper for the weapon motor ?
-
WRC font <3
And the bot looks damn good.
-
Looks quite good. Kinda like a mini Judge. Not a fan of the wedge, though, and the snapper looks a little bit exposed for my liking.
-
Judge burst for the Axe and Slimbody drive.Make it quick and powerful.
The wedge is useful for not making the bot flip over when it's attacking something.
WRC font FTW! Didn't realise I had it on my PC.
-
yay pressure
bot looks nice, i can't help thinking it would look better as a pyramid type bot like terrorhurtz though
-
Looking awesome, I would love some motor protection though.
-
awww cute :3
judgeburst might be a bit overpowered for its weight
-
Here's a quick photo of a Billet BW.
Nothing special about it really, just a scaled down version of Billet 2

So cute

Pretty sick. Is it finally a LW?

Leaving details out as it will be my BB6 Entry.
-
Nice. Reminds me of the MW I was building for BB6.
Also I was gonna make a drum bot called Ingot... You beat me to the punch.
-
Reason I went with Ingot for the name as it relates to Billet, a form of Metal Manufacture.
And a Drum becuase it relates to Billet again, seems like a natural progression of sorts.
-
looks cool, liking the paintjob
-
Think i'm getting good at applying decals in Botlab.
Gonna go for 3 entries in BB6, Ingot the Lightweight, Bilet 3 the Middleweight and Slab a heavy.
-
Is that a srimech?
-
You're... good. Better than me, already. Kudos. I look forward to seeing these three in BB 6.
-
You're... good. Better than me, already.
Pressure's been around forever dude
-
:)
And yes, the bar is a Srimech.
-
You're... good. Better than me, already.

I'm stupid, leave me alone :(
-
(http://i.imgur.com/nuWVroy.jpg)
Updated.
-
Reminds me of New Cruelty.
-
Everytime I look at that picture I think one half of the wheels are missing.
Looks nice though, I'd probably get rid of the beater bar on the end of the DSL bar and switch it out for a couple of alu/tite extenders though.
-
When you do send this, you just want me to AI it as a pusher with a shrimech? Ingot looks sick by the way.
-
Most likely, but a robot can by chance land on top of it.
-
Why does it need the srimech at all? It looks invertible to me...
-
It's not efficient running inverted, the plough basically lifts most of the wheels off the floor.
-

angle the flippermakers so that they go downwards and fowards diagonally, so you don't have to use the massive wheels just to keep the blade off the ground.
-
I tried many Flipper Segments and Wheel configurations. This worked best.
-
Why not like this for the legs?
-
Didn't think about legs like thatm just the 2 segments on each side.
-
My first foray into DSL3.
-
Wonderful bot!
-
Now a try at a bot with a flipper arm.
-
Killer, man!
-
A new try at a Nightmare style bot...
Point of Impact.
It's a MW, with a MOE Perm for the weapon. Armour is one of the thinnest plastics to keep it a MW. The angled sheets are for stability, it was very unstable while turning. It hits big with the weapon. If BB10 or another IRL tourney are DSL2, this will be an entry.
-
Nice
-
Very swag right there. Looks sweet.
-
That looks sweet man.
-
My BBX HW Entry... Iron Mask
(http://i.imgur.com/UhJpsds.jpg)
Beta style axe/hammer. Made a big armoured scoop/plough for the front to withstand the eventual spinner weapons.
My team will be Billet 5 for LW, Point of Impact for MW and Iron Mask for HW.
-
Siiiiiiiiick...
-
Really nicely done :)
-
it looks ****ing awesome
probably won't fair very well though... too bad
-
duuuuuuuuude <3
-
Not your best.
-
Not your best.
Why do you never have anything positive to say, man?
Anyway I think it looks decent, especially the use of hex plates as armor.
-
Not your best.
Why do you never have anything positive to say, man?
Stop whining.
The Hex Plates and spikes just don't really fit together, especially like that. The chassis seems too stubby for me and the axe looks like it's raised too far from the top of the chassis as well.
-
Not your best.
Why do you never have anything positive to say, man?
Stop whining.
You first.
Pressure: Did you say this was for BBX? You could change the iron spike for something else and put stabilizers at the back :) I think that's what I would do to improve it.
-
shut up nerds.
Anyways, I personally think a smaller wheel would look better.
-
The bot is actually reasonably stable with the axe firing. Stuff on it may change before signups.
The wheels are the perfect size for the front scoop really. Ground clearance is pretty much zero.
-
I like it. Nice build.
-
Not your best.
Why do you never have anything positive to say, man?
Stop whining.
You first.
Don't sh**post in showcases.

You and Jaydee were, and you still are.
To keep this on topic, I like the way you BFE'd the weapon motors on the latter two, but Iron Mask might look better without the static spikes. Overall, really nice builds.

Iron Mask looks perfect just oh god yes

New stuff...
All for the next IRL Battlebots or something.
-
The MW is bland but I'm liking the other two.
-
I've always loved your IRL stuff and this is no exception. Teach me your ways oh wise one
-
I hope that 200 and 700 are errors.

My first DSL 2.2 bot...
LW with the Firestorm style flipper motor.
Still need to figure out the wedge stuff.
-
Wedges work pretty much the same as they did in 2.1. That bot won't get under very much, but it does look nice. Aside from the piston not facing the correct direction, but you can't do anything about that. I wonder if I should make another style with the piston positioned for rear-hinged flippers.
-
Modified the previous design.

Very Chaos 1, I like it
-
I really like this. New DSL (previously just the beta) robots look so nice and clean.

Agreed, that wedge so shallow though.
-
Another one on the same basic platform...

These are cool and all but the piston orientation makes no sense.

It's a new burst motor in DSL 2.2

I know that. But the piston is supposed to look like it's pushing the flipper up.
-
Click said on the last page that the piston is supposed to make it look front firing style, but said it could be edited ;)
Another one. This time I modfied my old Juke chassis to make another flipper.

MW this time.
-
that might be the best thing i've seen built in ra2, nice job man

Stuff on the front is hopfully a spinner defense.
Haven't decided on a name yet. Could be a an entry for an IRL MW Tournament or something...
-
Its beautiful
-
It's amazing
-
It's a FLYING HORSE!
No seriously, that's pretty good.

My first try with proper extender/frame work...
RA2CF is a gondsend for this stuff.
Also, an idea for the next DSL version maybe? Would love some extended/belt/Perm style E-Tek and Mag Motors. Perms are weird for me, not a big fan of them really. Also, the 6-Mag is more powerful but very tricky to use.
-
that hammer from a month ago is sexy as hell.
i don't think DSL will ever get updated again unless someone else ends up taking charge sadly

My team for Sword of Glory...

Crappy image is crappy.
-
The new Fe has grown on me, poor old Fe, had such a bright future ahead of it...
Those Billets, man
-
Nice Nightmare VS. All look good.
-
Droping Point is my favorite here. though there are at least 3 beta clones in the tournament I still like the style of them
-
this showcase rocks :thumbup
-
Non final entry for GTM Live. First legit go at an extender bot I guess... Well, better than the previous one.
I already know how to make this look/perform better.
-
:heart_smiley:
-
make the extender frame out of beaters
-
I'm not a big fan of using beaters for chassis...
Anyway, another iteration.
The frame is all Titanium extenders. Wider scoop and longer chassis.
-
Another bot...
Has a Judge Thruster for more axe power. Bot it called White Death.
-
Both of these are cool, what's a judge thruster?
-

There's a bot ingame called The Judge, a real bot with a powerful hammer/"Gavel". For the game to replucate this, there is an invisible thruster to give it more power.
See this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEjum2EkFj8
In my finding they have to be placed a certain way to make them work properly. Most of the time it just makes the robot flip.
-
Pretty neat. I like that flipper a lot too.
-

there's like a rocket on the back end of the hammer to make it go faster
