Few pointers here. First of all, mixing Stock and DSL is frowned upon, as is using cheatbot2 (Judge Burst can be justified in IRL building), and custom component, excluding Smartzones (Needed for most AI .py files to work). Try to see what you can build sticking to the standard DSL components first. =)

i tried to revise the design
the reason i mixed everything was because me and my cousin are seeing who can build the best middleweight bot and we are allowed to use any mix of components

Get rid of the storm burst that is facing up. It is not needed as your bot can run upside-down.
The general rule is one ant battery per spin motor. Get rid of all those black batteries.
Use one burst piston and use extenders to put more weapons on it, like razor tips or small DS teeth.
I think you're using too much Co2, use 1 or 2 tanks. (not much knowledge with pokers)
Shrink the chassis to fit the components.
The drive motors are OK, but change the wheels to something grippier like Techno Destructo wheels.

You can get the chassis a lower height by clicking at the very bottom of the slider, rather than just moving it down.

Next step sould be to shrink the chassis around the components. And angle connectors aren't useful for what you're doing, you need Poly Extenders, or aluminium is they keep getting broken.
Another thing you'd want to do is use the IMG tags. It makes it a lot easier and cleaner to read through your showcase.

Just post a picture of your updated bot. Some of us, including me, don't necessarily want to bother to download a video when a picture would be just as informative and use less server space. A video in this case is more hassle for you and everyone, and less practical.
Also videos of bots in action don't show insides. Most of them anyway.

Nice first attempt. Use multi extenders instead of baseplate anchors. You only need three ants. Use vlads, hypnos, or tornado wheels for wheels. You can also shrink the chassis. What's the weapon powered by?

I think the motor is fine. You might want to have some lighter armor and some bottom protection.

how would I go about adding protection to the bottom without using right angle connectors ? because i'm trying to add a ramplate or disc to the bottom as the chassis is about the same size as a ramplate

Find the halfsheet in the extras area of the bot lab. There's an attachment point right on the center of the bottom side. That attachment point will all you to put the halfsheet directly too the bottom of the robot.

yes, but i'm making this one just for effectiveness rather than IRL, i'm going to make 2 versions of each bot i make from now, 1 IRL and 1 competitive

spinning weapons are never supposed to cut though wheels in dsl unless you are making it for a un-realistic tourney such as steel warzone or something

It can still use less empty space :P
Try to paste all the components as close together (Saste the rear end of those NPCs to eachother & Paste the TWM3R to the NPCs instead of leaving some space between em)
Then fit the batteries on whatever small space you have left (Above & Next the TWM3R)
If you simply CANT fit enough batts in the super small chassis then grow it a bit to make em fit :P
I usually never have a space in my chassis for batteries though, I just push em whereever there are holes :3
Try to make the bar cover more ground than your bot, That way before anythng touches you theyll be blown away by the spinner :D
You can also use NPC Normals for the LW version & Put some techno wheels, Itll get rid of your unrealistic prob & Wont loose much speed. (Its LW so it doesnt need NPC fasts anyways)
Thats for a really efficient competitive build there, Not much eye candy ^^'

Lurk in Craaig's showcase and don't use multi extenders unless your using them on the baseplate.

Use aluminum extenders or other kinds of extenders instead of multis outside the chassis, multi extenders are extremely weak outside of the chassis.

Just another quick tip, try not to use slim motors - they suck. And that bot is depending entirely on stuff going up the wedge to hit the disk - have a click around my showcase like MassimoV said to see how I do it. Perfectly takes out even the wedgiest bots >:D

It looks nice. Not sure what motor is powering the weapon, but I would upgrade it to a 6-Mag, because I doubt what you have right now is strong enough to spin that disc at a reasonable speed. You might as well add some more armor or stabilizers while you're at it.
Also, are you sure the weapon doesn't cut through the wheels? To me it looks like it does from the second picture.

its a tornado mer, and it just misses the wheels, barely
edit: added 3 half sheets to the bottom that work as stabilisers as well as armour.

Try making the chassis smaller, downgrade to titanium 5, get some more external armor, and maybe get heavy hammers.

The four small DSL bars are entirely useless. Get rid of them and try 45 kg hammers.
Pretty sure you can attach the hammers to smaller multiextenders and save 6 kg as well.
Oh and while not bad, it's unrealistic. Build realistic or you won't be accepted in 95% of tournaments.

you could try swapping out the anglers for something else (anglers have crap hp anyway) or downgrading the extenders holding the drive to titanium round ones to save some weight

I'd swap those minis for ants, if they reach.

ew dont use steel extenders for this. use flipper segments (angled) so you only need one for the motors and stabilisers each side. e.g. (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/84091Quarticsarefun.png)
Then use a smaller bar/something different and see if you can somehow fit 60kg hammers on. or just add some weapons to the bar stabilisers

uh not quite right. get rid of the poly extender and me holding it and put the bar straight on the flipper segment. you will need a 90/45 flipper segment probably and need it like what i showed you. then you can get rid of the baseplate anchor and extender on that and just put the me as far near the front as you can and straight on goes the perm. then see if you can get some front/bottom protection and shrink the chassis a bit

I think It's not too bad. It seems underweaponed though. Usually don't use DSL bars for extenders in trinity spinners.

I'd use DSL bars (if they are actually lighter, I can't remember) and upgrade to Grannies. Other than that I love it. :gawe:

yeah, i was using dsl bars for stabilisers before but they needed a much weightier setup to stop it hitting the ground and just made it look bad in general

You do get 40cm wide DSL Bars, but they are a LOT heavier than skirts. Even the Steel ones. And they don't offer a great increas in HP, IIRC. Stick to skirt stabilisers, but I might try to get a poly extender holding the hammers instead of a titanium one. It's not as if it's going to be hit very often at all.

sheets are stronger and weigh a lot less than bars btw. you have seen heavyweights with bars because sheets arent long enough but on here they are.

You're gonna need some form of bottom protection.

it doesnt really need bottom protection because if something gets under it the force from the weapon forces it to flip until it hits the ground and stabilises again.

Trov glitch isnt useful here unless you use a donut which even I can't do. One more thing is it stable with the WBC wheels?

Uncheck the "Snap To Grid" option when you're making the chassis in Step 1.

st3 is pretty bad... you may want to upgrade to ti5 (reduce the chassis if you must)

Trinity spinners are technically unrealistic so you'd have to wait for a DSL unrealistic tournament like Steel Warzone.

The wheel extenders seem vunerable. I don't think you need them that far apart. It would turn just the same if thew were closer to the body.

What Jonzu is trying to say is that Steel 10 is overkill. Downgrade armour and maybe use the weight for more/better weapons or more external chassis protection.

You can do better on extender work as well. Try putting the two halfsheets into a X shape, and attach motors and stabilizers directly to them. Maybe another extender so the motors's axles are parallel.

Wedge, drive, batteries and armor all seem to be good... but you're doing it wrong on the weapon. Still I guess it's pretty good for a first popup.

Should be the other way round, surely. Widen the top of it so the wheels don't stick out, and drop to Tite 5 if you have to.

You're right, it doesn't. Go back to the Tornado Mer motor, and make the chassis small enough so that the tribar doesn't cut through it, but big enough so the wheels don't stick out. The top could easily be rectangular, with not all sides being the same length, or all wedges being the same steepness. It'll still look fine, in my view.

steel 3 armour and there is a caster at the back to stop the bar from touching the ground, what do you mean by the flatter bit ?

Probably has a small caster behind the bot.
And obviously the front is where the weapon reaches, so it's the face that's pointing at us.

2nd of all, reduce empty space, degrade to Ti3 and with that get npc fasts and a dual metal small hinge wedge.

what AI pack? and the gradient of the bot viewer of yours is stocks. the real DSLs gradient of the bot viewer is whiteish.

I'd also suggest a wider stance, maybe attach the motors to the discs too. That'll let you spin faster, and not give as much of a chance for your vulnerable center to get attacked.

He just needs to rotate the ME's the other way. One side of the ME's has the AP slightly embedded inside it, so some stuff won't attach, like the DSL disc.

Looking pretty good so far. You could upgrade the armour with the remaining weight, but you could also raise the ME's by one notch to make it invertible.

That just means you need bigger wheels. ME's should be one notch up from the baseplate to make them as in the middle as possible on the lowest chassis possible. Even so, with Hypno Wheels don't give perfect invertibilty on NPC's. Mini Wheels would be a better choice, they give a slightly wider radius for much less weight, if you don't mind the slightly lower grip and HP. Vlad Wheels would also work, but they're much larger than Hypnos, and stability might become an issue.

(please don't mark it as a bad advice.........) you should just lower the armor to Ti1(cause SnSes knock opponent away form their chassis, so it's okay to have a not-so-strong chassis armor) (Fair enough) and try to get technos. (No, that last piece of advice is bullsh**. Try and use technos on a flat design like this and tell me how it becomes epically unstable)

I wouldn't advise adding Techno Wheels, they're a LOT wider than Hypnos, and I'm concerned they may extend past the razors. Vlads would be fine if Hypnos don't offer invertibility, or Mini Wheels. Perhaps you could add some Side Panels to the top and bottom of the discs, to offer a little bit of protection should something get an opportunity to attack them.

Gauche, if you are unsure about a piece of advice do NOT post it. Especially not when you are new and you have still plenty of things to learn. I've noticed that while most of your advice is OK, a part of it is just awful and this will not stand.
If you didn't already get it, "use technos and hypnos because they're the best wheels" is a generality, not something you must forcibly try to apply to each and every bot. Technos are only good on MW's or heavier anyways, unless you are using 1WD drive.
Now for why half of your advice is crap on that last post : because with technos the bot will become far taller, and far more unbalanced. It will mostly only have 2 points of contact, and will be far more prone to flying, generally failing and... you know why ? clone that bot, give it technos and try it in battle. You'll learn it by yourself.

But yes, if you were to add techno's you'd have to rethink the design. Hypno's are fine for this, as long as it's invertible. Depends on how fast it spins..how does it fare against Paper Cut (the one in NAR, 4 or 5 :P)?

the front edges seem pretty exposed for a spinner irl, get longer shellparts and cover up the remainder of the side (assuming they're not 60cm already), they might even serve as wheelguards/axle support for the drive if they reach enough, and yes the chassis looks bulky and inefficient

Those teeth are always going to look out of place no matter what you try, in my opinion.
I'd use a 30*80/30*120 DSL bar and put beaters on the end or something. Or if you want some form of tooth on each end a longer 40 width bar and hypno teeth.

Uh, redo the setup. Your hammers are in positions where they'll either not hit at all or do not much damage. Try mounting the hammer end on end at the end of a DSL Bar rather than the very heavy setup you have there. I'd also up the drive as it's not fast enough for a static sns.

Good to see you liked my Two Tribes entry What I would do is have the middle set and top set of razors pointing downwards, covering the exposed extenders. You could probably downgrade those extenders because of that. And I would probably also have another set of razors on a skirt hinge at the top, to use weight up. and to possibly stop other robots going over.

Your design involves a Dual Perm (which can counteract the flex due to gravity), and a disc which minimizes AGOD due to evenly distributed components.
His has Perms (and will immediately flex if one motor spins up faster than the other), and bars, which are already glitchy as is (imagine how many times you would have to rebuild it to get an evenly glitched one, let alone an unglitched setup.
So no, it's most definitely not worth the risk nor the effort. He would've been better off with more strategically placed MEs.
And stop talking back against a user who has specialized in these designs. It makes you look stupid.

on Plan B, rotate the razors so that the sharp side faces forward.
on On Melancholy Hill, just use this setup to attach drive and stabilizers: half sheet ->40 cm alu skirt -> back side to put drive(you can just use copals for this), front side to put stabilizer. And with the weight saved try to get more weapons( 3 razors isn't enough on a BW VS).

Yeah you won't be able to hit anything until you get under them. Considering you only have a chassis wedge, I would move the blade closer to the front (try rotating the dual Magmotor).

Quite a lot of them are actually although I do try to change it up a bit sometimes with some AI wedges if they fit the look of the bot.

Not really sure what to name it or skin it as, it has dual judge bursts, twm drive with hypno's and plastic 3 armour, it is also about as close as I could get to the power of a real pneumatic flipper at mw level.

I get what you mean but with the weight being at what it is doing that would be next to impossible because the weapon brace also holds the top protection for the perms.

There are no angled ap's they are MOE motors, does a perm 132 have the same power ? If so I'll just use them and re do the weapon brace.

Tried the perm 132's and they didn't produce the speeds that the bot needed to compensate for it's small ammount of weapons.

I've yet to name it and skin it, I based off of tsunami.
8 ants, steel 3 armour, twm3r drive with hypno wheels, judge burst, self rights fine. It also flips nicely, it gives more of a pop than a slow but strong lift when most bots are compared to pneumatic systems.

skin doesn't look gritty enough. its too much of cool texture i found on the internet not enough robot texture, doesn't look believable and looks almost cartoonish.
needs some scratches or something, if you toned down how bright it is it would help.

It is possible to get a pattern like that on a bot using printed vinyl over paint which is what I plan on doing on my featherweight and antweight but I get what you mean and nobody would use that technique on a HW bot so I'll try and get a more realistic texture on it and make it a more of a matte finish.

I present the new lineup for LWS Robotics in the next release of LDAI, I figured that the bots previously that I had in LDAI were just plain bad and I had no inspiration to skin them so I thought because of the positive response to my bots lately I'd use those instead.
Expect the other teams that I have in LDAI to be updated as well as having another team or two in there :smile:
Edit: Obligatory Insanity will appear on a different team as I feel it is the only bot in the original lineup that is up to standard.

It's only really good at tipping because of the weight of the alu plates on the flipper and the low power of the pistons compared to judge bursts.

Thanks, the chassis had to be that big though to get a wide enough wheelbase to make turning easier.

I'd like to take this opportunity to officially announce my retirement from building in it's entirety for the foreseeable future. Stuff IRL has just been taking over everything recently and ideas have been either impossible in ra2 or non existent. I'll still be around posting elsewhere but I won't be building for a good while now. I had a good time building while it lasted but I've got nothing to give anymore.

Yeah I know the skin needs to be better but I couldn't think of anything at the time. The hammer is purely decorational as it is made from extenders as is the stopper at the back.

Weight isn't an issue, it's around 600kg, apart from chassis armour there isn't really anything I can add.

Can't add them, the long arms on the top of the weapon bracket are 6th in a chain.

Looks cool though, although the blue plows look out of place (but useful). You could maybe upgrade them if you downgraded the bar to a 20 wide, and another 6 kg could be saved if you chassis mount the NPCs (they might already be but they look like they're on multi's to me).
Also I am dubious of how useful the sheet is mounted that way, I would've thought it'd be better along the chassis.

Weighs 790 something kg, I know the skin is terrible I'm a bit out of practice with it.The single tooth disc works fine with a large beater as a counterweight. Working on a double flipper next from Thy's suggestion.
