Roaming robot's ai is quite good but most bots use custom parts

Also for a wheel that keeps the same effect but does it better I'd try slipperbottom wheels or tornado wheels. Should still be invertible and then you can use stronger skirts.

But I don't understand how it was working fine for like, a month. And only within the last 3 hours has it been derping like crazy.

The game is insanely fickle.  There really isn't a rational answer to that dilemma.  I've had the game go for long stretches without a prob and then *bam* it just freaks out for no reason and I gotta reinstall.

I'm lucky, my RA2 hasn't even done that. The only time it's crashed is when I messed up the DSL install.

I am looking for inspiration to build more flipper bots that have the ability to 'throw' opponents rather than 'topple them over'.

Where could I find some top 'flight' flippers?

Rust In Pieces 2 - Claymore (Runner-Up, Favourite Bot)
BBEANS 6 - Infection 4 (Runner-Up)
RA2 Team Championships - Serious Business, Skeksis (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, and Badnik)

Betas are the only real way to get seriously powerful IRL flippers, although in standard DSL it's possible to get 8 BSGs in a HW, fully powered (I used battlepacks for each BSG, since that powers them perfectly), which is very strong, or 4 large JXs, which is a bit more exposed but is powerful. 4 BSGs and 2 small JXs is also a decent flipper setup on a HW.

Sorry I haven't posted here much, been away a bit. But while I was away I experimented on spinners.

I built one horizontal spinner and one vertical spinner, both completely useless :/

This one is called Reliant... because it falls over a lot.

5 ants
Titanium 10

And this one is Beheader, because of the cool axes!

However, it has one ~minor flaw...

4 ants
Steel 10

Also, I would like to enter some competitions here to give my building an aim, but I don't know what ones to enter or how. :/
Is a newbie like me allowed to enter or do we have to wait a certain amount of time.

Oh, entering tourneys is easy! You build the robot, and when the tourney host is taking entrants in the signups thread, you pm them your robot. You can upload it to the site using the bot exchange and send them the link, or use the file host if you don't want other people seeing your robot.

Sounds simple enough, but when I was looking at one tournament rules I saw something about "AI-ing" your bot.

I know what this means, but I have not the slightest clue how to AI, is that vital for a tourney or will the host AI a bot if the sender can't?

Reliant's pretty kewl, but that's a bit too much for a mag, i think.

Generally, the host is prepared to ai. But it is better if you can yourself.
If you can't, then you can still be helpful by placing and naming smartzones yourself (If needed) and wiring the robot correctly.

Anyway, constructive criticism time!

Reliant:
TMW3r's aren't enough for that much weaponery, I would make the chassis a rectangle and use Perm 132's mounted on ME's instead.
Tite10 is generally severe overkill for most robots, IRL or not. Tite5/Pl10 should suffice.
Widen the wheelbase, it'll help with stability.
The Extra DSL bars on the discs seem uncessesary and use up weight. I would remove them personally.
If you want to keep it invertible, I would instead use a dsl bar instead of a small ant/axle combo.

Beheader:
I would use a bigger set of wheels and remove the spikes to allow for invertiblity. Possibly techno's or something.
That steel extender is just one big target, if you move the me closer to the front of the robot you can shorten it.
From a visual standpoint I like the axes, but if you're looking for combat efficiency, there's a reason you don't see them around much. :P
I would change that castor on that disc to a typhoon spike or a beater bar.

Cool, I have done most of the changes to Beheader, but it still stands on end (I kept the axes though!).

How can I not make it bipedal?

You mean how stop it standing on it's end?
I would use an extender attatched sideways to a ME coming out of the back of the bot to stop that happening.
Or jam a skirt hinge in there with a few weapons attatched to it pointing out of the back to stop that happening.

oh, and two more things:                                                                                                                                                1. Both of your bots have overkill armor. Downgrade them to Pl 10.                                                                              2. Try to make Beheader invertible.
EDIT:Damn it got ninja‘ed by conraa.

Tite 5/Pl 10 are overkill...

Tite 3 or p5 is plenty.
