Hi there! Im new to the forums and the DSL mod, but I'm not new to RA2 stock, but DSL is so awesome I decided to build bots there. They were pretty bad, but then I made my first bot that could kill something. This is version 2 of him, his name is Death Sheck:
Yeah, I'm not an great artist for paint jobs. Here's his insides:
Quick fight against Grisly Bear:
He has Plastic 1mm armor, because I needed the weight for the weapons.
Once again, im not that great DSL builder, and I want to improve this bot I have. I'll post more later. Oh, and he's missing 1 spike because I didn't had the weight for it.

Thanks, I did that, shrunk it and also made smaller. Here's the new Death Sheck and a battleshot against WIIDE LOAD:
Oh, and he now has smaller side panels and aluminium 1mm armor now.

Yeah. Unlike stock, DSL bots are supposed to follow a realistic rule.
Here, the problem is that the wheels can't possibly pass through the spinner shell IRL.
Have a look at the DSL showcases. Most of the bots follow the realistic rule, as the DSL AI you're fighting.

MR. N, your bot is good for being new to DSL. Here's another simple suggestion:
1.
not all components need to go 'inside' the chassis. Especially since it's all protected under the spinner and weapons. Only the Battery(ies), Controlboard, and some means of attaching things outside the chassis must be inside it. The large chassis uses allot of weight that could instead be used for more weapons and/or more armor.

So, that means I should build bots that can actually be built in real life? Well, I think I got one, he's a drum bot that holds the opponent on his steel skirts, rolling them to death. Do that bot is an example of a bot that follows the realistic rule? If so, I'll post him here. Oh, and I'll try to fix the unrealism problem on Death Sheck.

Why not post it anyway. It sounds alot like Red Tide VI in BBEANS. And that bot follows the realism rule.

It's fine if you want to build unrealistic DSL bots for fun. I've seen plenty. Just don't expect to enter it in any tournaments.
That said, the idea of an invertible shell spinner is pretty cool. There's one bot I've seen do that in real life--Ringmaster in Battlebots.
Also, you should rotate the 5kg teeth 90 degrees so they hit with the sharp side. They won't do any damage with the flat side.

Sorry for taking too long to post... I was without internet. But, I've finished Death Sheck and I updated my drum bot, before even posting it. I just need to finish something and I'll post them soon. Oh, and I'll do that Clickbeetle.

Sorry for double-posting, but I just finished what I was doing, and here are my drum bot and the new Death Sheck:
Death Sheck
Now he have his wheels inside him, and I noticed the big double-sided spikes are heavier and weaker than light double-sided spikes so all spikes are now light DS. Also, now they're turned to their sharp side, thanks to Clickbeetle for pointing that out. Armor is aluminium 1mm. Here are the pictures:
Rollin' Thunder (the drum bot)
You might be wondering where I got that name..., well, since he has a rolling weapon (duh), and he's fast, I gave him that name. He's probally not what you thought, thanks to my bad english. Armor is titanium 1mm. Here's the pictures:
Oh, and now I'm gonna try to do a MW rammer.

I'm quite a quick builder, eh? This one is a MW rammer powered by a piston and fast NPCs. Armor is aluminium 3mm, or whatever is the default DSL armor. The Ripping teeth makes him look more like a hog, and can stop side hammer attacks. Pictures:
Blood Hog
Crappy and lame paint job, I know... now I'll try to do a LW bot.

I like it. I love rammer hybrids, and rammer/piston bots own.
Several tips to make it better:
-That bot's too high, and visibly not invertible, great flaw for a rammer. Reduce the height. Even if you won't be able to put the medium Puma CO2's, I'm sure you can find another better component setup.
-I'm sure you'll be fine with Tornado wheels and normal NPC's- if you reduced the height it'll be invertible, and then you should have enough of a battlepack and an ant batt. And the Tornado wheel / normal NPC-T64 combo is pretty fast and has low ground clearance. And you'll gain weight. But I could be wrong with the power setup.
-Aluminium in the worst armor possible - i mean, if you divide the armor value by the weight for all armor types, you'll see that titanium is the better armor.
-These shell parts look vulnerable to me. And the wedge is less efficient with them.
That's all!
