MattW's 'bots.
« on: September 16, 2008, 12:26:52 PM »
Here's my first one.

TWERKYULATE YOSELF! 2.0

(no link[MDB])

Horizontal spinner, all the batteries are under the disc. It's SLOW moving. All that jazz behind it and around the wheels is wheel protection, mainly just fodder for other opponents until they can get to my wheels. In true TY! fashion, it can run on both sides.

EDIT: Er, how do I actually post images here, the [img] tags aren't working.

Use the Gametechmods image uploader (link to it at the homepage)

About your bot:

-AAARGH empty space!

-If I'm not misunderstood, it has 4 long black batts under the disc: then, the ant batt is useless. You have enough power with 4 long batts.

-Cheatbot2 (stock) control board! Use only the rectangular blue CB, or the tiny one.

-These wheelguards are pretty frail and heavy... I would suggest using steel skirts.

-By the way, the anchor with 5 attachment points is heavy, very heavy, and you just need one attachment point . Use the baseplate extender red-and-black thing you just attached to the 5-AP anchor, way lighter.

-Use grippier (like Vladiator) wheels, because this thing is really slow. Unless you don't want a faster bot of course.

-The weapon motor is fine, but your bot has very few weapons for a MW. Add more teeth on that disc or else they'll fall easily and your bot will be useless..

Ah, and of course have a look at the other showcases.

Yeah, I don't know what to fit in that empty space, lol.  I didn't have any control board when I removed my components cfz, so I had to use the stock one.  Thanks for the tips!

EDIT: Oh, and the goal for TY!2.0 is to be better than the original TY!, which competed in BBEANS1.

Well then rebuild the chassis, i don't know...

Ah, and one last advice: you could already know that, but titanium is the better armor, I mean it has the best armor/weight ratio. Then plastic, steel and finally the worst metal ever, aluminium...

EDIT: ah, and it would be cool if you'll compete in RAW. It's DSL HW.

Alright, here's my next one.

THE EXPERIMENT.

As the name suggests, the 'bot is just an experiment I had.  Mounted the arm and disc on a servo, so it can hit the opponent from any angle, including while being trapped.  The vladiator spikes are used to aid in Self-Righting.

Tear it up, lol.

I know there's a lot of empty space, as said before, just an experiment.

Not enough batteries. Try showing some real bots.

Somebody's right, you need more batteries, at least 2 more battlepacks.

Oh, and a rotating-weapon-on-servo design isn't really efficient like that (unless you make a modulable VS/HS like Click did)

I tried spinning clamps (like hammers, but with spinners on them and the burst start/end positions are inverted), vertical and horizontal ones, on SHWs but... not efficient.

-that chassis could be smaller.
- i dont know if this Vlad lifter is going to be very efficient
- adding weapons on the rear is not a great idea
- weapon unefficient. use an extender and something lighter/longer, like an iron or razor (i think chicken drills do work on DSL too)

That weapon on the rear is pretty effective though, lol.  I had a few >1000pt hits with it.  I really want it to have a flipper, any ideas on what motor would be best?

The mag snapper is the best bursts below the large JX motors, and please include what the armor is when you post your bot. You can take out the ant batteries and put in another battlepack.
