That's not accepted in Standard. You build with what you have and you don't 'pretend' you have other bits. It's not a 'you COULD do this', it's either it's possible to do with those parts or it's not.

It should be largely similar, if a little more lenient, with IRL. Any extra leniency should be at the discretion of the tournament host, who has said it's not cool.

Although I'll respect Elementos's decision, I agree with Avalanche. I can't see the robot properly but it looks like the forks are emerging from the lower plate and I think he's done a rather good job, in that respect. The only thing preventing this from being 'IRL' for me is the presence of plates you'd see a lot in DSL-S and I'm getting a massive DSL-S vibe from the front of his robot. Imo, that's the only thing he needs to change.

For sure. It's a nice build, but not suitable for the tournament, in my opinion.

I appreciate the responses guys and the differing views. I will respect Elementos decision on this again it came down to a shear curiousity as to what the consensus is. I wanted to ask to properly adjust my opinion on what can and cant be done IRL and I can definitely see the front skirts being a bit off putting IRL. SO if it is ok with Elementos I will redesign it. But I would like to confirm in his opinion is it still an issue with the vlad fork or just the skirts so I can properly redo it?

Here are a couple IRL designs I made

MW flipper influenced by dantomkia

VS originally was inspired by witch doctor but couldn't get a powerful enough motor to fit to get the drum so made it more of a VS throws bots well and looks cool does need better extender work IMO

that motor protection is a tiny bit flimsy here, for an irl bot...

Yeah to be fair I did say my extender work was quite shoddy on this 1 lol.

What you suggest to make it look more realistic

First off, you should only ever use ant batteries (maybe battlepacks when using a lot of burst motors). 1 per spin motor.

I think more extender work holding the actual motor and not the disc would be nice, on both sides, and maybe some in between the link the disc and motor supports.

in 2.2 all of the batteries give close to infinite amps, so heavier batteries are more efficient in that they give more electotal for their weight

you could probaly cut down the amount of batteries in the vs to about 1 or 2 wp836e

Thank you for the advice I will try to incorporate that into the design.

Well I had an idea to make a bot with the roll cage like major tom and here it is my IRL styled grinder. It self rights everytime and doesn't look horrible IMO. The motor could use more protection and support but unfortunately I couldn't make the bot as originally intended using a perm 80 to get the chain drive like a real version would so not too sure what to do with the motor and I didn't want to make it real high profile as the cage already does that I guess I could redesign the chassis so I could place the motor in 1 end and have shaft go into other to make it more realistic.

I thought he said that he was playing 2.1, my mistake.

I think that piglet could do with some support and protection, for an IRL bot.

Your best bet for the VS is just making the chassis tall enough to accommodate the motor. Unfortunately, it's very hard to make an asymmetric drum weapon without using custom parts, but you should be able to use a drum now that the motor's lowered.

yeah that's what I figured pwnator I just didn't want it getting too tall and boxy looking. Things I hope for if another robot arena comes out more user friendly motors and the such to make more realistic bots

If it's too tall for a middleweight, it should probably be fine for a heavyweight. Some designs just aren't meant for lower weight classes. Might even be able to make things more detailed with the weight constraint lifted.

Fun little bot I made. It is a sideways flipper actually effective and wedge sits almost perfectly where it gets under bots extremely well. It is powerful enough to toss a MW OOTA on robot wars arena. PS Mystic you got lucky Thrackerzod wouldn't let me force you to build one of these for our match. Which is why I made a MW version for **** and giggles.

Its a cool idea, but you need a dedicated skirt wedge of some sort beneath that. Keep the flipper as it is, just add a skirt under it like you see on other bots. A sideways wedge like that is fine for flipping but will not be as effective at out-wedging opponents. Trust me, if you face an opponent with a decent wedge he will get under you with your current setup.
