Hm. I'll see what I can do. My current setup actually doesn't have the bottom armor, but uses a metal hinge wedge instead. But I'll see what I can do with the halfsheet, but they always seem to have weird collision boxes.

Well, I've been working on a new bot (finally), and I can't get a halfsheet to attach to the bottom of the bot. I dunno what the problem is.

is it on the lowest possible height? there's a glitch that won't let it attach if it's at Hypno invertability height.

Oh. That'd do it. Either way, new bot. Found it! Credit to 123STW for the bot base. I knew that I'd seen this before I made it.  :heart_smiley:

5x Ants, blue CB and one baseplate anchor in the chassis.
4x NPC Fasts with Backlash wheels
12x Vlad spikes on 180 degree hinges

Oops, forgot the chassis inside.

And for my final update, a battleshot.

See if you can make it invertible, maybe using a shorter chassis and Vlad or Granny wheels would help.  For the weapons, Sais (aka Robot X Swords) are better than Vlad Spikes, and I think using 90 degree axles would sweep wedges away easier.

I think Vlad Spikes are fine, even with normal it out performs robot x sword on field test.  Plus with robot x sword's triangular collision mesh it will have less sweeping power than vlad.

As for hinges, go with 90 degrees.

Axle loading is a nuisance. Realism is a bit sketchy now, but it could work. The axle loading took most of the time in the rebuild. It now uses 90 degree axles on all of the Vlad Spikes for better swatting power, as I was recommended. I had to swap up two of the vlad spikes for large beater bars with light DS teeth on 180 degree axles or they break off too easily. I tried the RobotX swords, but they didn't work as well both damage and swatting-wise. The new wheels give it ridiculous speed along with being basically invertible. It rides on the top of the chassis a bit, but the wheels are close enough to the ground that it still spins. Internals are the same.

Also, I'm experimenting with a new setup for the motors. They get ripped off too easily when the bot is inverted.

Heh, You'll see some funny stuff with the motors soon if you keep messing with them like that...
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.

I know. But with only 4 the battery tends to wear down too far to swat bots away for the last 30 seconds or so of the match. 5 works much better.

Well, still working on motor protection for the SnS, and I had an idea while I was working.

Cyclonic Intervention
2x NPCs with Hypnos for drive
8x Vlad spikes on 90 degree hinges
6x Ants
3mm Plastic armor

Most is visible anyways. I'm really liking the vlad spikes for the good damage, even though they have normals. the ones on this bot sweep very low to the ground and can easily sweep away wedges, and the NPC drive makes it quite speedy across the arena.

I built that big robot on that TV show that time

The vlad spikes do remarkably well in combat, even better in my experience than hammers.

The drive doesn't need to be fully powered, so it only needs 4 ants. Use the lighter CB (since you have a lot of space there anyway). With the free weight, you can probably upgrade the armor.
Clash Cubes 1 - Grey Matter (Runner-Up)
King of Karnage - Sideshow Freak (Runner-Up, Best Engineered)
Rust In Pieces - Paper Cut 3 (Grand Champion, Most Dangerous Bot)
Wheely Tag Tournament - Ion Thruster (Grand Champion, along with Ounces' DiSemboweLment)
UK vs USA - Dark Striker (Grand Champion)
Rust In Pieces 2 - Claymore (Runner-Up, Favourite Bot)
BBEANS 6 - Infection 4 (Runner-Up)
RA2 Team Championships - Serious Business, Skeksis (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, and Badnik)
RA2 Team Championships 2 - The Other Stig (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, Badnik, 090901, and R1885)
Replica Wars 3 - Abaddon (Runner-Up, Luckiest Bot)
BroBots - wheebot & yaybot (Runner-Up)
Robo Zone 2 - Dipper (4th place, Survival Champion, & Best Axle Bot)
ARBBC - The Covenant (3rd place, BW Rumble Winner, Most Feared BW)

5 ants are fine.  I would put 5 - 6 myself.  And just to make it not seem like a personal preference, here's a quote from snow leopard about Crosswind V.

6 ants, 5mm plastic.

I can't say much (mostly because it's not so different from the last one), but more batteries = increased motor output = faster spin speed = counter wedges easier.

Showcase resurrection!

Forgot to add, NPC fasts. Er, and that it's using Titanium 3.

Important info and shots are in the splash. This was my experiment with a different setup for a popup. Probably been done before, but I just wanted to see how it performed. wedges are good after I got them not to AGOD on me, bot is fast, and it hits from 500-1700 for damage. Even gets a few OOTA's. Not sure what to do with the extra weight, but I might upgrade to irons and see how those do, with a slight armor downgrade.

EDIT: Un-stacked the accidentally stacked batteries in the top row.

Looks good, you could save weight with the Narmour I guess to put on more spikes.
That bot needs 6 ants...

2 per BSG
1 per NPCf
I do those awful YouTube videos.
