What concerns me is that anything with a wedge will get underneath and it may not destroy you (with the halfsheets and all) but it will render you helpless.

Ah. You forget the bumble ball campabilities of this bot, my friend. When flipped (Due to gyroscopic reasoning and the overall RA2 physics engine being wank), the bot always stays on it's side when it flies up into the air, much like how Sapiens does, but unlike Sapiens, can somehow selfright; which is odd, considering I've never seen a tri-barred robot self-right without help from other bots.

Just asking: How many batteries does it take to fully power a small JX? I keep forgetting the measurements for Small and Large JX's.

Cheers.  ;)

Absolutely digging that wild HS. How about rotating the weapons down 2 notches (or 3)? At least it won't be too helpless against a really shallow wedge.

I was going to post a new IRL MW VS, but then I read Sylandro's DSL Thread, and now

Eh, I guess hope isn't lost. How about doing an update/rebuild of Toriodore?

Ah, yes. Why not do an upgrade to the originator of IRL Metal Hinge wedges, and get myself decapitated again by the IRL 'fanbase'?

Freakin' hate fanbases. Them and their rules and regulations can Pop-Shove It.

I honestly don't care about metal hinge wedges as long as they look like they belong on the bot, so why not post it.

@Nar it seems to have degraded to this...

Well, what's the point of posting a bit if all I'm going to get is scathing criticizm for something that actually makes the bot better? And It's not being afraid, it's having next to no motivation. You wouldn't want to post a bot if you had to squash a 3-page flame war over a wedge.

Sorry if I'm being a drama llama, but the amount of butthurt people feel over a simple 10kg wedge attached to a simple 12kg hinge is driving good builders away from the IRL designs department. You people act like crazy-ass designs don't exist IRL, or something.

atm theres no strict guidelines for what qualifies for irl and its definition is objective, which is why everyone argues that certain bots are or arent irl (see: naryars showcase, dragonslayer in blades of fury 2, chocolate in ra2 olympics london)

BASICALLY  irl is a mess because ppl disagree over EVERYTHING
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

I have to agree, there really need to be some IRL guidelines made.

In real life, a skirt on a hinge does not get outwedged by a steel wedge mounted on a doorhinge every time. It's more of random chance. The issue is that they are unrealistically effective in function.

What would deal with this problem is an IRL component set that reduces the OP-ness of certain components (mostly wedges) and that would get rid of ridiculous outweaponing.

Trouble is, people who are capable at doing this are already working on their own projects.

Such as Gaz on RA2INBOW (even though he's actually still working in this in his spare time), JoeBlo on Backlash and Click on DSL3...

YOU WANTED THIS TO BE A SECRET, DIDN'T YOU, GAZ? GUESS WHAT? PAYBACK'S A BIG MEANY.

What happened to DSL 3? Did it become too difficult, did Click run out of time to do it in or is it going but so slowly it won't be out in forever?

I discussed the idea with Conraaa a while ago. Should just be a matter of adjusting the component settings we have currently so that they're much more difficult to break (just a matter of fracture adjustment) and by increasing the power of DSL bars and other underpowered weapons. It's also probably possible to increase the weight of single weapons like spikes and to dramatically increase their damage ratings so instead of mounting a tonne of weapons on a rammer you can, you add a single, heavy, powerful spike.

Alternatively, you can remove all weapons without normals completely, and add fracture to everything else.
