Firebeetle's bots
« on: January 07, 2005, 05:57:46 PM »
Edit:  This thread is now Firebeetle's Bots because of me mistakenly posting a second showcase thread.

Time to start a permanent bot thread here.  I'll start off with 3 of my bots.

Dead End, middleweight, is so flat that it can fit under the blade on the blade arena without getting hit, allowing for a fun and easy (although cheap) victory against the AI.  It can also fend for itself well enough when it's not hiding under the blade - that's a Tornado Mer gearbox spinning 60kg hammers.

Terrible Abomination, heavyweight version of my MW Abomination, has a big, huge, enormous, giant, colossal, gargantuan, humongous, etc. vertical spinner powered by a 6-magmotor gearbox.  Fast NPC drive and 2 orange batteries.

Drumblebe3 (Drumblebee 3), heavyweight, has a nasty drum powered by 2 Perm 80's and has fast NPC drive and 2 orange batteries.  It was built to look cool and be combat effective at the same time.

Expect to see some of these bots on the exchange sometime.

Nice I still love the original Drumbelbee.  It was by far one of my favorites.  Terrible Abomination looks awsome too.  You really are one of the best builders out there.  I would play but I get to much lag when building bots.  It impares my skill and makes it almost impossible to build a bot.

Very nice bots, TA was really fun to battle online, and would make a great addition to an AI pack.

A TWO DRUMMED DRUM BOT! 2 fast NPC motors and 2 mags for drive, perm 80s for drums, and 2 orange batteries, aluminum armor.

Red Tide History... since this is the first one seen and it is number 4.

I made the first Red Tide with stock RA2. It's old and way outdated now, It was bad even back then. It had a wall of razor tips on an inverted wedge designed to sweep over bots (which it couldn't do) and a drill with a single battleaxe in the back. I made Red Tide II a while before I joined the forums. I thought it was good, It had a drum of spiked clubs mounted in a wedge and a flipper in the front. It was designed to sweep under bots, which it did very well. Once I joined the forums and learned avanced building techniques, I decided not to post it, since it was outdated. Then came DSL and I made Red Tide III with beta version 1.0.  It has a drum on top of a wedge of skirts and it's pretty powerful. I didn't bother posting it because it isn't really anything too original and I wasn't very experienced with DSL parts so it was kind of almost a test bot, just to tinker with DSL weapon systems. I made a middleweight bot, it was called Red Tide IV. It had 4 saw blades mounted in a wedge. Later on me and Clickbeelte decided that it wasn't really like the others at being a sweeping under/over bot so it was renamed and was no longer a Red Tide. Recently, now that I'm familiar with DSL parts I've made Red Tide IV. It is very effective, powerful, quick, agile, and dangerous. It fits very well with the sweeping under theme. It is also original with the double drums.

Some of you older members from the RA forums might recognize this bot - but this time, it's all stock!

Bumble Bot uses a single TWM3R2 motor that is purposely built very unbalanced to 'bumble' around the arena, similar to a bumble ball - see pic.  It is a lot tougher than it looks, but it can be easily beaten by vertical spinners and hammers.  It is most effective against bots with exposed tops.

Makes a great opponent bot to fight - no AI'ing required, you just need to activate the bumbler and then you can concentrate on driving your bot.

It is available on the bot exchange.

Reminds me of that toy what was popular like back when I was 5. The bumble ball or something. Cool idea, never thought of incorperating that idea into a bot. Great job as usual. :D

Assorted various bots.  Decawhirl is a beetleweight (my planned entry for rfshq tournament 2), Kilowhirl II and Corrupted Abomination (my planned entry) are lightweights, and Megawhirl IV and Twisted Abomination are middleweights.

Twisted Abomination has a Perm 132 (no I don't mean 80 - it's a 90kg 132) running the weapon - really nasty and good for tossing bots airborne-, 1 orange battery, slimbody drive, and aluminum armor.  Megawhirl IV is powered by an Etek (lots o' spikes does lots o' damage), 2 red battlepacks, and has aluminum armor and Astroflight drive.  Kilowhirl II is powered by a Perm 80 - pretty darn powerful for a lw - and has 1 red battlepack (runs out fast) and astroflight drive.  Corrupted Abomination has 2 red battlepacks, plastic armor, and Astroflight drive.  Decawhirl has 1 red battlepack, a magmotor, aluminum armor, and Astroflight drive.

Um... practice?

A small chassis helps too, and a beefy weapon motor.

Late reply, but Drumblebe3 is now on the bot exchange.  Since the other 2 were too.

Meh, no bots posted here for a while, here's some battle shots of the Abominations.

REVIVAL IS GOOD! DSL shouldn't be dead!
I'm taking the lead, maybe if I post bots, other people will too *hint hint*.
I also feel like making some DSL bots.
This bot features 2 drums and 1 axe weapon (looks like 2, but it's one motor).

Name: Rogres
Batteries: 3 orange batteries
Drive: 2 Fast NPCs
Drum Motors: Perm 90s
Axe Motor: Mag Snapper
Armor: Aluminum
