Meganerdbomb's DSL Showcase
« Reply #20 on: December 10, 2007, 08:00:41 PM »
Now that the forums are back up, and I've started playing DSL again, I can post some new bots.
Here is a rammer called Leviathan.

Although it's a rammer, I've found that it's more effective for me to push the opponent around the arena while I toast him with my flamethrower rather than actually ramming.
Behemoth vs Leviathan!

This one is not really a bot built for serious combat, but I have won a few fights with it.
im just waiting for meganerdbomb to come along and kick things into gear.

Try to change the 4 Etek Drive for 6 T64 Fast in Leviathan and grippier wheels.
The Extra Weight  can be used to add a wedge, or upgrade the armor.

and i found your old showcase... https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=523

Nice bots, yeah.

Spin Bonker DSL looks mean, fast (four NPC64 are quite good) but doesn't need four big batteries. Tw (PC565's if I remember) are enough (and even then it will be slightly overpowered) for one Etek and four NPC64. Could save 60 kg for that.

But the Atom Smasher is underpowered ! One big batt and one orange batt should be enough.

If you want Spin Bonker to be really deadly, you should tighten the chassis a bit, remove that front panel and put some ant batts, or even stack a battlepack battery in the first.

I made a slight upgrade to Shebaest
In case you can't tell, the extenders for the spikes have been upgraded to titanium, the emergency wedge is now inverted to get under things better, and I switched the three cutting teeth for one ripping tooth. Oh yea, the skin is improved too.
Heres a random bot my brothers made with the originial name of happy slapper

If you can go under her wedges or if you have a good armored hammer bot, it is (relatively) fine.

If not, you're in BIG trouble.

Ah, a thwacker with spinning spikes on the wheels.  I've thought about that design but haven't tried it.  Looks like a mean bot.

How the heck can that thing be so heavy? I thought it was a MW! What armor did you used?

And for the wheel guards, I would put something wider like a 40x40 DSL bar (or perhaps 30X30), or a 10cm disc with a typhoon spike on it.

I tried to make it a MW, but I couldn't get it below 450 kgs without making it much weaker, so i gave it very heavy armor (10mm titanium) instead. I'm going to try reworking the chassis to make a MW version eventually.

Hey, why your pictures and screenshots here are BMP?
After you have them in bmp you just rename them to jpg and you think this will work?
They are something like this : ************12123.jpg.bmp
But actually they are bitmaps and they are large and dont have any jpg compresion...
So you actually use bmps... Repair this... Save them in paint as jpg...
Just becouse your windows dont show theyr extensions and you see them as ************12123 and you add ".jpg" this dont mean they will become jpg...
jpg compresion is another thing...
(My thoughts : *Noobz,noobz,noobz,... they will never lurn windows...*)
anyway...

Meh who cares? But alright this one is actually a jpg.

This a hybrid bot I just made called Double Boom Joy Drill. It has very powerful attack, but low defense (only 1mm steel for armor and no extra protection). because of this it is very weak against spinners and hammer bots that have armored fronts, but good against most other bots.

That's gotta pack a punch.  2 Storm pistons on a LW is crazy enough, but with drills on them?  It's not going to last long, but those first few hits will hurt.

FROM THE DEPTHS OF HADES, COME FORTH!
Yeah, I'm necroing my 2 and 1/2 year old showcase! Is that a record?
Why? I don't even know. I guess I got nostalgic. Some of you already saw this bot since it's the one I built for Hard Bot's challenge. Unfortunately, the very sight of it struck him with fear, and he chickened out. It's really a shame, because I really wanted to use it. Maybe someone will make a DSL BW tournament in the near future. Anyway, here's Scootaloo again.

I think the skin needs some work....
It can consistently beat every BW in the Naryar AI pack except Rip 'em Up, and that's only because its wedge allows it to get at my exposed back and undersides about 60% of the time. From the front and sides, it's impenetrable.
Maybe I'll build a Sweetie Bell just to make this bump worthwhile, but don't count on it.

I like how that bot is protected on all sides.  I bet it would be good against spinners, kinda like Thwartoise.

The asymmetrical wheels bother me but I don't see how that could be helped.  :(
