Hi people! I'm back to walkers for a short while. I've been trying to make fully working spider walkers and the main issue with those is how to make them withstand their own weight. Well unfortunately after a dozen of tries it is impossible to make a spider walker in this game unless you cheat, with hovercrafts... Unfortunately i could not find any other way to make them stand than this one.

This prototype was made some weeks ago and was forgotten. It was designed to withstand it's own weight, unfortunately it didn't happen so i had to add 2 hovercrafts. The controls are very confusing and operating it is incredibly hard. Note that it CAN walk very well! But it's damn hard to even do one walking sequence.

This one I made today and has simpler controls that the last one, although it is still very complex as you can see from the control table. Fortunately this design saves me from having to lower the legs each time I lift them, because they are heavy enough to fall on their own. This bot walks even better that the other. You can see from the picture that it walked some distance but to get there i spent almost one hour learning from the controls and i still can't make a full walking sequence.

To show you that it is very hard to control these bots let me explain the complexity of the controls by explaining how to take the 1st walking step:

>First we need to choose one pair of legs. Lets for example choose the ones selected in the picture (note that the front of the bot is facing you)
>Then we press W to lift the legs out of the ground and then Q to move both legs forward a bit.
>Now we will use those legs to push the bot forward. For that you need to press at the same time S (to force our used leg pair to the ground creating traction) and UpArrow, lifting the other pair of legs. Immediately after, still pressing the other keys, we need to press E to move the forward legs back and finally as soon as the bot starts reacting to this last control (usually takes a couple of seconds to react) we press the RightArrow to move the lifting legs forward. When this is done the cycle repeats with the opposite controls.

Easy to explain but very hard to do. Move the 1st pair of legs forward too little and the bot will barely move. Move the 1st pair of legs forward too much and they will get stuck or take very long to react when you try to move them back.
Combining the different controls into one key is out of the question because each movement needs to be spaced between them by seconds or less.
It's very frustrating, because I know that the bot walks well but I can't master the controls.

You're taking this walker thing pretty seriously. Crazy stuff.

I finally did it!! God damn it! About time!

Directly copied from the videos description:
"Please Read:

*TURN VOLUME DOWN (forgot to adjust the sound volume so it's loud)*

You might notice through out the entire video that some parts seem to have been cut and edited in between the bot movements. I did this because about 60% of the full original video had no motion because I'm actually thinking of what controls I have to press next.

Yes, the controls are really that hard. There are a total of 16 control keys and 8 of them are only used to adjust individual legs in case they get way out of place (you will notice my adjustments in the video). 8 keys are needed to make one walking sequence and 4 to make one step. Then each 4 keys must be pressed in the correct order for the walking process to work.

In other words that's why i had to cut some parts of the video and that's why you'll see a lot of mistakes"

Definitely

I build what comes to my mind, m8. I cannot have a goal in weight or anything or it will confuse me. If I want a bot that does something in particular, I will (in general) increase the weight limit until the bot does what i want him to do. There were some UHW I made in past that were only 3000ish kg and i couldn't reach the 4999.9kg limit because I simply didn't know how or where to add stuff and sometimes if I did, it would ruin the bots' performance. Devourer 2 just happened to reach the limit successfully. If I manage to make a GHW it will be by chance depending of what I think of.

People have completed QWOP quite some times. Check Youtube.

Anyway here's my new bot:

It behaves fairly in battle. The average wedginess of the bot combined with the poor protection (1mm Titanium) makes the underside quite vulnerable. I think it's an average bot in general. The wedges are powered by burst motors and are quite effective in flipping opponents and very effective for self-righting.

>Decent weaponry
>100% foolproof self-righting mechanism

>Average speed
>Average agility
>Average wedginess
>Relatively weak armor for a HW

Ant Batteries are you friend.

Might free up some weight for more weaponry.

Less utterly crazy than your former bots, still good.

It's good to have builders such as you here. It shakes up the status quo.

Thanks for comments as always

True but it would lose power a lot faster. The last thing this bots needs is to lose speed. I would make it very ineffective quite rapidly.

Thank you m8, very appreciated

Ok, now here's a more crazy bot.

I know that early in my showcase i named another bot "Grinder" but i think this one truly deserves the name.
4 massive super structures are powered by one Perm 132 each. Although heavy looking, the motors are able to keep the bot spinning at a good speed. Needless to say that It has unprecedented armor.

Note that it is not battle effective so I will not point out the specs of the bot.
It was intended to be used for battle but the 4 structures ended up being heavier than I thought and the spin rate is not quite enough to avoid immobilization when forced to a corner.

If I did, I would have to remove a lot of things from the 4 structures to fit the bot in the UHW class. Plus I would have to increase the size of chassis. Quite frankly, I doubt I would have the patience to rebuild this bot  :baffled:

Actually I think it would need more razors in the center area but the rule of 7 doesn't allow me to.

This next bot is a kind of light version of Grinder and this one is very good in battle

It is not perfect but it can win a good number of battles and its 8 flamethrowers sure help. The servo motors are there mainly to give the bot flexibility and they can also be activated when it gets cornered. Basically, this bot is impossible to immobilize. It has insufficient weapons for a UHW but it's compensated by being a hard target.
The only problem with it is that it cannot move in a controlled manner.

>Very high spin rate
>Good armor
>Hard target
>Virtually impossible to immobilize

>Insufficient Weaponry
>Uncontrolable
