First off a updated picture of Cannibal.

Very nice bot. I saw this of the RA2 forums which apparently are here now. Is there a baseplate for the rear of the bot? I really can't tell if you removed it to show the insides or not.

Your talking about this right?
Just a way to attach the armor protecting the top of the chassis

Here's an updated picture of Bonecracker.
Those Side extender thingys used on shell spinners oddly get under opponents easily.

I was just asking if the rear end was protected really.

Anyways, Bonecracker is nice too. How does it do against flippers?

Whoa. Im impressed. Even if I see some minor flaws in Cannibal I LOVE that design.

Very good bots, but Bonecracker's chassis is too big. And you could put some more drive power on these.

After driving myself mad trying to figure out a better setup for my BW Pepper. Here's an updated picture.(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/11086screenshot_117.bmp)

Also this Robot was inspired by a robot I saw somewhere around here and by my old stock bot, meet Pyramid.(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/7528screenshot_119.bmp)I'm still not sure if those polycarbonate skirts help out or not.

its called it should still probably reach farther than the chassis just because it will keep bots away from the chassis which is pretty damn important

the chassis is well enough protected. he wants to get under bots, not hit their sides. there would be almost no point to the skirts if the weapon had longer reach.

Are there any bots that can get under it, because if it can get under you, you have no chance with the weapon reach.

Duh.

Mostly the "super" wedges can get under it. Also the weapon is designed to deal damage when robots go up the skirts not when they get under.

you really need to shut up. right now.

Post by: Somebody on November 07, 2008, 08:44:07 PM
When I posted that, all it said was Duh. I was asking what bots could get under it, as in, can alot of bots get under, or just the hinge wedge/super wedge type bots. obviously, the post edit revealed that.

And by "super wedge" I meant bots that there main weapon is a wedge or based around one.

I just built this LW it doesn't have a name. It has 3 mill aluminum.
Heres the picture(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/42909screenshot_122.bmp)It says its a middleweight in the picture, but I can fix that.

Also The very first version weighed the same as this one, but the game says this Version's a LW. The first Version was a MW. I don't get it.

I'm back everyone. Was grounded from the computer. Didn't really know where to post this "I'm back" post, since I've been away from anything RA2 for these few months or so.

Yes, R0B0SH4CK I found the original one most eye appealing, but in general it was weak. To slow, weapons often fell off, and other things. Now the final version's main problem is that it flips over a lot, like when it backs up after hitting its opponent or right after hitting the opponent.

Yah, I'll post more on it when BBEANS 6 draws near. I named it Box of Demise to.

Oh, and Black Noise only has 2 stacked dual perms. One of my friends robot has 4 stacked dual perms, so I could definitively improve Black noise If I wanted to.

How many irons on the poker? 2 ?

Also it looks too specialized of a design to be really efficient in tournaments... say, a wedge could cause you trouble.

This bot seems to be a good candidate for SOW architecture (https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1492)

have you try this bot with your weapon mounted on servo motor ?
Title: Dexterhunter DSL showcase.
Post by: Dexterhunter on March 13, 2009, 06:46:44 PM
yes two iron spikes. See that polycarbonate skirt? That what keeps the wedges at bay. Only hammer robots I have problems with they can knock off my piston, but I don't expect to see a lot of hammers in BBEANS 6 so I'm not worried.

No, I never really thought of putting the weapon on the servo, since weight was so limiting.

If I change my mind, I'll be entering this robot instead of Box of Demise in BBEANS 6.

Also this was the robot I was planning to enter in BBEANS 4, but I was moving at the time and had to rush in my entry. I might of sent it to the wrong e-mail address, so that's why I missed BBEANS 4. Meet 396.6:

[naryar] You have too much empty space, you could shrink the chassis and still be able to fit more parts on. [/naryar]

Besides all that, I really like the rammer. You should switch the black bat to another battlepack though.

But don't get me wrong with the empty space issue. Note how I said super compact and just not compact. I just have a certain morality level about chassis space in DSL. Lots of people who do DSL just lack that in my opinion.

Oh, and Naryar what magmotor? You talking about the perm? That's what the DSL bar under the blade is for.

Here's some failed robot designs from my early days of DSL.

1 (lightweight): This was my first attempt at making a DSL Box of Grime. Scrapped.

2 (heavyweight): I really liked how this was going, until I realized the chassis was so awkward I couldn't get a weapon going. Scrapped.

3 (beetleweight): Really unstable. Scrapped.

4 (middleweight): So much empty space I could house a pet in it. Scrapped.

5 (heavyweight): After making Cannibal I wanted a drum bot with bigger teeth, this design simply didn't work. Scrapped.

6 (heavyweight): An early version of Aardvark. Heres the current version (http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/9548/screenshot160.png) of Aardvark.

The old Aardvark looks like Blue Moon.  The new one looks a lot cooler.

I like the design of the #4 MW.  Reminds me of a real bot I saw called Collision.  I think I tried doing a design like that once, but it had trouble with constantly doing somersaults.  That kind of bot needs some front and rear supports to keep it from somersaulting.

I've always wanted to make a robot similar to Whirlygig, I've failed several times in both stock and DSL to make something similar to it. That was on of my failures.

Anyone remember Bonecracker? My second "serious" DSL bot (Cannibal was just a fluke). Bonecracker has been re-built, now sporting: A simpler/better defense system, smaller chassis, and my signature wheel guard setup. I present.

TriTon, Urjak is just being unsure about the actual efficiency of the flail thwacker - and so do I.

____________

That disc is way too high - that's not going to defend you against a wedge.

Also I bet that your bot must run quite low on energy after 2 minutes...
Title: Dexterhunter DSL showcase.
Post by: Dexterhunter on April 17, 2009, 07:10:58 PM
To be honest, the flail does more damage than the blade. The bot itself it designed to do a "Sabertooth (https://gametechmods.com/RA2wiki/index.php?title=SaberTooth)" tactic (notice the wide wheel base and beater bars). No, power isn't an issue.

Edit: you can consider it a HS/thwacker hybrid
Title: Dexterhunter DSL showcase.
Post by: Urjak on April 17, 2009, 08:06:31 PM
You need more powerful motors or grippier wheel if it is going to be a HS/thwacker.

I'm slowly starting to get back into the swing of building again.

The sit and spinner is named Brutus; its the best I've made so far ever since I got Ra2 operational again. The shell spinner [Yare] is nothing special: it gets its ass kicked in battle, does practically no damage, but the typhoon flag tells me which way its pointing [which is pretty damn neat i think] which is the only reason I decided to keep it. Don't expect me to start building and showcasing robots regularly again, but more of a once in a while thing. :]

Brutus is a middleweight at 395.2, while Yare is a heavyweight that weighs in at 735.2.

However, that would make it more IRL than straight DSL. In fact, the robot would be a decent entry into Battlebots, provided there are places left on the sign-ups.
