Decision making xP!
« on: August 06, 2008, 06:12:51 PM »
Hello everyone ^^. I haven't been on Gametechmods.com in a long time. If you have noticed that my join date is August 2008, know that I have such a bad record keeping ability that I have lost the password and possibly even the username of my old account xD. I think, back in September '07, I started my first showcase for RA2 with Spike, Angel, and some heavyweight "thingy" ;). Now I'm playing with DSL.

I don't know if this is the right place, but.... I was wondering - would a middleweight like the one below perform better with a piston or with a horizontal spinner? In the picture it has two discs without weapons (I tried hardened spikes, but I took them off because I wasn't sure if they were the best decision) Also, the problem with the perm 80-mounted horizontal spinner is that the top disc sees no combat, while the bottom disc takes all the damage and snaps off too easily. What advantages do pistons have over spinners?

The real problem with reality is the absence of background music.

This is the wrong place. Just start a showcase in the DSL showcase section, as that is where most people go, and they will answer your questions. I am new to DSL too, so I do not know which is better. Each weapon has numbers, that are DP, and HP. HP stands for Hitpoints, and the higher that is, the better. I do not know what DP stands for, so I don't know, but I think that higher is better.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

I looked at the stats for the hardened spikes and they seem to beat other spikes, but I'd like to know the advantages and disadvantages of different weapon classes. I also felt hesitant to put it on a showcase because I wasn't looking to show it off as it isn't finished yet, but rather to get advice on it. Thanks for the help, though :).

Now it is in DSL showcase, even tho it was fine in general discussion as he was asking questions and not showcasing it.

Woops :P. -stirs up admins-

I guess I'll just observe other people's robots first and then make a decision.

If you want my opinion, a horizontal spinner works better with that design.  You have armor on the front, sides, and back--that's only useful if your sides and back have a high probability of being hit, which is the case with a forward-mounted HS.  With a piston you'll mostly just get hit in front.

As for the discs, there's no reason you need to use two.  You can just use one and put some nice big hammer heads on it.
