Iit means that if you post in a topic that has not been posted in for at least a month, you are "bumping" the topic to the current date. It's generally preferred that you start a new thread than to bump an old one. Don't worry too much about it - some of these threads have gotten up to a year's bump on them ....

Not intentionally. My first weapon set up used 40x 40 DSL bars but they didn't register damage. I wanted to keep the low ground clearance and the egg beaters were the only thing that really worked properly.

Wow, THIS guy is old guard. Welcome back to the boards. =)

But yeah, DSL has moved on quite a lot in the past six years. But has split into two camps, sort of. There's regular DSL, which goes for efficiency and combat effectiveness at any cost, and there's also an "IRL" building style, which focuses more on creating designs you would see in real life competition. So you could pick whichever one most appeals to you, and focus on going down that road, or attempt to go for both. But not at the same bot, that wouldn't really work too well.

Hey there. Decent looking bot and one which would fit within the IRL (In Real Life) category of bots. I'd recommend looking at Scrap Daddy and Thyrus's showcases for examples of IRL.

Of course, plain DSL is still around, so I'd check The Ounce, 123Savethewhales and Naryar's showcases of the style, as well as some of the Normie showcases, like Marty, ty4er, Jonzu's and mine.

Anyway, for your bot, I'd try reducing the amount of batteries (remove the long batteries) and get better drive, probably mags.

Yea im noticing the change in style. I was kinda hoping that DSL stayed closer to more realistic bots but im not surprised. I think there is a happy middle ground though. Personally as long as you can explain how it would work in real life its close enough to IRL for me.

I have a feeling im going to be more on the modding side though because I am a game modeling student now. Im working on a degree in game design right now.

Wow that's pretty cool. Any good at reading .exe's lol. Serge has mucked around a bit in the RA2 exe but not much has come from it. Trying to unlock rule of 7, weight classes, etc.
You'll fit in nicely with the IRL bots.
