I'm not even sure I could attach shell panels given the attachment points they have.

The problem with this bot has little to do with complexity. Just use 1 tough center extender and skip the 2 extra extenders by using perm 132.

Looks good, though you could save a bit of weight by trading out the DSL bars for something lighter, maybe flipper makers.
They don't look like they'd get hit much in that position.

The chassis needs more armor, especially with what it has now. Scorpion is right, you don't need the DSL bars: the main extender is safe where it is already. Get rid of the bars and try to get at least titanium 5 on it.

Or take the Refraction Chassis and put the rest of the stuff on with the half sheet and everything.

Here, have one of the first DSL bots I ever made. I made this little number ages ago when trying to make a walker. The end result was this,

It actually moves surprisingly well. It has a tail so it can reverse.
I think I made that wretched extenderwork so I could align the pistons easier.

The pistons firing followed by suddenly stopping results in net positive momentum, allowing the bot to navigate via piston. The method dates back to pre-DSL days but is mostly forgotten. Walk This Way and Iron Curtain(posted April 17th, 2009 in my showcase) both use the same basic locomotion concept, however with front and rear facing pistons, it's got full motion control. (no getting stuck in corners)

In my defense, this one has a read facing piston aswell so it can reverse.
