Title: Your tactic to stacking two blacks?
Post by: nightcracker on August 07, 2011, 04:49:06 AM
I have done it once, but that was sheer luck.

My question is, what are your strategies/tactics to stacking two blacks? Certain camera angles, what zoom, etc...

Thanks!

Persist for ages with a fair amount of zoom.

Take about half an hour with that method :laughing. Stacking gets seriously tedious with blacks and air tanks, but I have an easier time with the latter.

I get so frustrated that I make a double power, double weight Supervolt, like the one you win in BBEANS.

I don't :P

I haven't played in stock in a while, plus i'm on a laptop without a proper mouse to zoom with...

Sometimes i just get lucky with stacking and hit a soft spot, otherwise it's near impossible for me >.<

@Ty4er: If I'm not mistaken you can zoom with PgUp/PgDn.

I can stack nearly everything apart from Snapper II's and Blacks.

No offense, but I don't really care, and it's completely offtopic.

What was the need for that? It's not off topic if we are talking about stacking. I just said what I can't stack. No need to get aggressive.

SnapperII's can be stacked, provided you axle load the axle out of the way first. Just takes about 12 weeks to get it to work, but it is doable.

First of all, I go into the Chassis or Overview tab, then zoom all the way in on a direct top-down view. Then I switch to Components, and attach the first Supervolt while still zoomed all the way in. It'll jump back out to normal zoom once you've clicked the mouse, regardless if you attach the component or not, but once it's attached in max zoom, I go back into Chassis/Overview, zoom all the way in again, rotate the chasssis by 90 degrees, and then try to attach the second Supervolt.

Unfortunately, it's pretty much just trial and error that works with stacking (Unless you use hax mode, lol), with varying tolerances depending on what components you're trying to stack, but the two Supervolts you're trying to stack need to be exactly in line on one axis, and slightly offline in the other.

Hope that helps. =)

Thanks NFX, that's the sort of tip I was hoping for.

No need to take offense at his post, just ignore it.

Anyway, you're better off asking someone like Inf, Scrap or Sage directly by PM or something.

NFX, is your offset in the length or the width direction of the black?

EDIT: Holy ****, I just stacked two together using your method NFX, I would +rep you if I knew how to.

Either. Occasionally it's both (which is more prominent when your allotted space for stacking is a bit larger.

It can be both, but it's normally the width (the side with the black and red squares) that I can get it to work with.

And I'm glad I could help. =D

Yeah, I started using NFX's method a couple of months back, and it helps a LOT.
On more difficult stacks, it can also help to delete the first placed component, and re atatching it turned 90 degrees round.
Another thing that helps is if you have that little bit of room to, place the first component so it's not right up against an edge or another component, just  because it'll obviously stop you getting that little bit of offset you need to let you stack.

-Put first black
-Zoom all the way using zoom glitch
-Attempt to put the second black in the exact same position
-Fail
-Move it a few pixels, hoping to quasi-stack it
-Fail (most of the time)
-Spin it 180 degrees, retry
-Fail again
-Get frustrated and leave the game, but saving progress in the same time
-Try again a few hours later
-Generally succeed, having wasted one hour on stacking a single black stack and being exceptionally well aware that 5 minutes of BFE would give the same result. And undetectable to anti-BFE check if you do it right.

I used the zoom glitch and I usually try to stack it the same way.. and if it fails, rotate 360 degrees, try again and eventually got it to click in

Anyone can just use Hax mode for the same results anyway since it was released..

This makes me sad. Did no one watch my battery stacking tutorial?

Nightcracker- I made a video tutorial on stacking in the tutorials section under "Ra2- Tips and Tricks." You should check that out. Blacks can easily be stacked in 10 seconds or less.

@NFX- You don't need to load the axle away on a snapper II, it will stack fine with it on. It does help though.

making sure you have the chassis like perfectly square helps a lot as well
