It's a really frustrating problem I'm having in DSL. Any time I build a VS (Like Mako), it keeps flipping itself forward when the spinner reaches maximum speed. Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening?

having 2 "arms" going out the front of the bot at the sides helps a lot with stability issues.
-
Frontal stablilizers would help. The reason that you have this problem is one of newtons laws and RA2's crappy physics.
-
Make the bot so the wedges are longer. Or make a design similar to JoeCB1991's Destroyer series.
-
Alternatively move the spinner further back, directy over the COG.
-
VS's are always unstable, even if they do have extenders. Without, doubly so. It's largely due to Newton's Second Law, as SKBT said, and the gyroscopic precession that is created as a result of the large mass rotating at a large radius and high speed.

Front stabilizers don't always help... I have a VS with the spinner way in the back embedded in the wedge, like Dark Pounder and my other bot Darkling 2 (in fact this bot I'm talking about is Darkling 3). It's completely stable in the bot lab. But put it in an arena, and it does frontflips uncontrollably against most bots (not all though). I think there is some weird glitch that affects VS's, that gives them super torque or something. Heaven's Sawmill did the same thing, although instead of doing frontflips its turning was affected.
