Ive noticed lots of bots in SC, PYS, and restocked use the arrow keys to control the bot and space for the weapon. I find this weird because personally, I use WASD and Q for weapons. If I need a scrimech or reverse weapons I use E.
Oh and if your wondering how i put my hands, I put my right pointer finger on W and my right middle finger on D. On my left hand i have my pointer finger on A and middle on Q. If i need to back up i just move from W to S.
What do you guys use?

I am very left handed so I generally set up most Starcore AI pack bots to drive with WASD and Weapon is Space.
I then set up inverted controls on Arrow Keys.
When I first get the bots from guests that are entering their bots they are often set to Arrow Keys.
Starcore
-
I use WASD, but only because my down arrow key is broken, and I lose without being able to backup. I am also left handed, so it works.
-
I use a PS2 controller. Left analog stick steers, L1 activates weapons, right analog stick controls throttle use.
Sometimes arrow keys and space too.
-
I use WASD. If i use the arrow keys, i have to move my mouse across the table.
EDIT: I use a PS2 controller. Left analog stick steers, L1 activates weapons, right analog stick controls throttle use.
What?

Same here.
And I don't understand how Click controls Drumblebee 2. :SS

I just use WASD, Weapon is Space and X is Sremech... if inverted I just drive backwards using WASD
lately I have been trying my PS2 computer controller but not a huge fan of it for this particular game
-
After playing doom for quite a while, I got used to using the wasd keys for movement....

how does that work?
Anyway, I use the arrows and the space bar. If there's two controls,
i will use ether z and x or control and left shift.
Additionally, I have a Logitech Attack 3 joystick i could make use of, but haven't.
-
The arrow keys, mainly because I'm right handed.
-
Arrows and Space, usually. (Depends what else needs to be controlled.)
-
Arrow keys and X. yea, im odd.
-
has anyone tried what i do?
i find it like 100X more comfortable.
-
I use the arrow keys and spacebar; Z and X if my bot has multiple weapons.
I'm just not coordinated enough to have one hand doing both the weapons and the drive.
-
I have had a complicated weapon system robot in which myself and my cousin teamed up to control it :P one person for weapons and one for drive
-
Perasonally, I prefer ↑ ↓ ← → and either Enter or Space for my weapons.
-
I use awsd for drive, q for hybrid spinners, space for any weapon
-
Arrow keys and space, B or V for a srimech. I'm most likely changing that soon, I've played so much halo at this point that I'm more comfortable with WASD.
-
Arrow keys, D for weapon, S for srimech, E for secondary weapon (rarely used). ( I'm weird, I know)
-
I use the Arrow keys and the space bar.
-
I like having 2 sets of control, one for normal one for reverse. I also like to paint the top/bottom with different color so I can tell which set of control to use right away.
E - forward
D - back
S - left
F - right
A - attack 1
(for reverse)
I - back
K - forward
J - right
L - left
; - attack 2
space - attack 3
-
Lol, I am only who uses Arrows & Enter + Shift :D
-
Arrow keys for movement, space for main weapon, enter/rightshift for additional weapons/srimech.
-
WASD for drive
Q for primary weapon (very rarely Space), E for secondary (or srimech)
-
I use Arrows and -
The game registers the - as \ but the button is still the same. Its right next to shift.
-
WASD, UHJK, TFGH or arrows for movement and E, Y, O and Shift respectively. (For offline fighting.)
If not, WASD and space with E for srimech's.
-
I used to use a controller that looked like a PS2, but now I use the arrow keys.
-
I used to be an arrow-er. but I am WASD, Space for main weapon, M for secondary, E or Backspc for Srimech,
-
I used to use arrow keys and space, but then I got a joypad thing, and now I use that.
-
For spinners I use arrows and space. For bots with burst motors I use arrows and Backspace, so the F11 key is in easy reach for taking screenshots. Auxiliary controls like srimechs, secondary weapons, etc., I use the buttons above spacebar (M, N, C, B, V)
It's all a matter of what you're used to. I think most people use the arrow keys because they're intuitive, or WASD because the stock bots are wired that way. But you could easily learn to control bots with anything, and think anything else was weird and difficult. I once got a bot for BBEANS with its drive set up like a real remote control, with two analog controls, one for the right side and one for the left side, not forward/backward and left/right like most bots.
And I don't understand how Click controls Drumblebee 2. :SS
What's weird about it? And, how did you get it? I don't remember ever putting Drumblebee 2 up for download... unless you got it from the original bot exchange a long time ago?
-
I use the arrow keys, and 5123 on the number pad for inverted controls. I usually use space for weapons with the bottom left Ctrl for a srimech, but for certain hybrids, I'll use the bottom left ctrl and alt for weapons, and space for srimech.
-
I use arrow keys for drive, space (button controls) or Enter (switch controls) for primary weapons, and B (button controls) or Right Shift (switch controls) for secondary weapons. I usually forget to add the switch controls though because I usually make the bot into AI (where buttons work better for rotating weapons when compared to switches). RA2 was my first computer game so when I added the controls, I went with whatever was most comfortable (I'm completely right handed) and made the most sense at the time.

Oops. Not Drumblebee 2. I meant Slaying Mantis IV. But yeah, for some reason I had a hard time operating the srimech. XD
And I got the bots from the Atari exchange. XD
-
I use arrow keys and space most of the time. It's the most comfortable way for me.
-
i use a gamepad. analouge helps a lot with hard to steer robots (the oo collection)
-
ARRRROOOWW KEYS ONLY
And Space as weapon, and X as Srimech or secondary weapon.
-
When I was younger I played alot of PC racing games. I use my right hand for the arrows and my left for the space bar (weapon). I also use Shift as my Srimech key. when using a rammer, I have an odd two-handed use of the arrow keys, exactly the same as the old racing games I played. Right hand on Up-Down. Left hand on Left-Right.
-
I control my bots entirely with my left hand (I'm left handed). I use WASD to move, press the space with my thumb. And if I have a secendary weapon, scrimech or something I use F, R, or E (In that order). And I strike those with my pointer finger.
-
i can controll my bot with anything, as long as i have 5 min to practice with it
other than my gamepad i use wasd space v q-e r-f and z. i am right handed but im used to movement with left hand and shooting with right(common fps config)
-
I use an xbox 360 gamepad, right trigger as forward, left one as backward, left analog to steer and the 4 buttons for the weapons or secondary motors.
