Title: This might be a daft question but...
Post by: GoldenFox93 on July 30, 2010, 11:24:23 AM
...is there any way that Storm II's front bumper and lifting arm can be converted in weapons? I was thinking of having them function like hammers, which can in effect be used for ramming.

What do you mean?

Yup just change the concussion values in the TXT file and mess around with those untill you find the right amount of damage you want it to give. Be sure to make a copy of the original before you edit it though.

To be precise, I'd like the front part (Storm frame) and the rear part (Storm Back)  to have the same attacking power as a standard DSL sledge hammer through contact. How can I lay out text files to do that without damaging the files?

Stormback
Code: [Select]
name = stormback
preview = storm_preview.bmp
dir = storm
model = stormback.gmf
type = extras
base = Weapon
styles = Default
passthru = collision
sort = 515
piercing = .1
concussion = 3
fracture = 1
hitpoints = 5000
description = stormskirt
sounds\rubber_collision2.wav
attachsound = sounds\cmp_generic.wav
hidden = 2

Stormframe
Code: [Select]
name = stormframe
dir = storm
model = stormframe.gmf
type = extras
base = weapon
styles = Default
passthru = collision
piercing = 3
concussion = 0
fracture = 100
hitpoints = 14000
sounds = sounds\rubber_collision2.wav
attachsound = sounds\cmp_generic.wav
hidden = 2

Copy and paste these into the TXT files for the components and it should work.

edit: fixed the errors in the code

Excellent! Thank you very much!

Now then, to break something >= P

It won't work at this stage, because the components are components, not weapons. Also, they are cheatbot2 at this stage.

^ correct ^

the 'base' determines what values RA2 will accept, its the same reason bursts cannot be changed to take air

in this case Piercing and concussion values will only be accepted if 'base = weapon'

Edit: also storm back has the piercing and concussion values around the wrong way if your wanting the balance for the sledge hammer

Ah, I was about to ask why it wasn't doing much in the way of points. So will I need to change them from "Extra" to "Weapon", then?

Nope.

SKBT fixed the problems, look at them now.

Even better! Even though it's a bit hard for me to thank you guys over the 'net, here's a little something for your troubles-

And who knows? If Storm II makes it to DSL3, maybe we could incorporate the ramming plates as part of the rep itself?

Yeah, maybe like the Tornado and Overkill wedges. Click's giving the Razer weapon a frequency, too, so it deals constant damage.

Yeah, so that the Servoes that are now powering the claw can cause damage based on pressure. I still don't know how they'll get the self-righting to work, though.

We could have some servos with high power and low speed which move the claw, one back and one forwards, and some invisible ones with the same power and which move the wings out when the claw's moved back.

Hm, clever!

And maybe make Storm II just that little bit wider, too  = P
