Well firstly alot of people hvae tried to create a decent thermador 2 (mainly outside DSL community, all of which were awful!!! its totally my fav. robot and obviously has one of the most powerful flippers in robot wars (as i remeber it flipped Beamoth out of the arena well away from the wall) as expert type designers i was wondering if the DSL-TC 2.0 People would give it a go!

Plus as a pretty good New-ish robot Dantomkia would be a nice addition, its thrashed Chaos 2 on many an occation!

Robot Wars is mostly rammers and flippers. However, some of their bots are pretty sick, such as Razer and Gravity.

Gravity isn't actually a british robot, its from holland!! plus if robot wars was so bad how did it last 7 series'!! battlebots got like 3!! but gravity would be a nice add!, p.s. flippers are the most efficiant way to get a robot out (in the U.K series at least) out of the arena!

Robot Wars was THE BEST robot smash up I have ever seen. There were many nice designs like Grasshopper, Hypno Disc, Wheely Big Cheese, Razer, Dominator 2 and so on.

Of course there were some jokes too but still it was just blast to watch them.

And there also was this one robot what spilted to two separate individual robots. I don't remember that's name any more.

Battlebots had 9 "seasons". 5 were on TV, the others were payperview.

im trying to stay objective. Both Robotwars and Battlebots had good bots.

personally, I liked battlebots format better.

Battlebots seemed funner to watch in my opinion. Bots lost wheels more in BB than RW. :P Also, Battlebots seemed more professional with all those sponsors and stuff.

Although naturally im english therefore im obviously going to like Robot Wars and the majority of this forum are Americans and are naturally going to like Battlebots, we did have a couple series of Battlebots in the UK, i watched it and yeh was cool (noticed a couple of robots who faught in the british ones!) then there were the crossovers (e.g. the world champs) (which british robots won both times) but then again i cant be sure that the best american robots were entered, anyway, when i watched the battlebots aired in the UK, there wasn't enough variety e.g. 8 robots in the arena at the same time (the annihalator sp.) it was just 2 robots smashing the

outta each other (which is good to) just the DSL is domminated buy battlebot robots, maybe a couple more british ones would be cool.

I found by watching RW and BB numerous times each that although I am American, I think british robots (the good ones) are generaly more creative and more effective than American robots...I'll make a comparasin now.

Heavyweight 2 time champ Biohazard, nice design...low profile.
Razer, much cooler looking, 9 ton crusher...winner in my opinion.

Battlebots had "better" robots than robot wars did. Robot wars had more "creative" robots than battlebots did. Some Robot Wars bots competed in BattleBots, and they didn't as good as they did in Robot Wars. Hypnodisk was one of the robots that caused the most damage in RW, but that was only in the first few seasons when all the other robots had poor protection. In comparison to BB, the robots in robot wars were far less destructive.

I also hated the stupid House robots, that was a terrible idea. I prefered the BB arena, although it did make it more difficult for flippers. I feel like making an arena that looks like a cross between the RW arena and the BB arena,

I prefered BB because I prefer destruction and action with commentators that didn't annoy the crap out of you.

You have to also remember that in Britain there might be smaller heavyweight limit than what is in America where it could be more.

What do you mean ""better" robots"? Robot Wars had the most powerful heavy weight flippers in the world. Take WBC and Gravity for example. And don't forget RW had some nifty rammers and spinners.

The spinners in RW sucked. WBC had like... one good flip, it flipped a a robot acros the arena, but it's design was complete crap and it looked rediculous. I don't think i've actually seen Gravity. Flippers are pretty boring anyway, it just seems like a cheap way to win to me.

Well-built flippers are some of the most exciting bots.

THIS is not boring.

I used to agree that flipping was a cheap way to win. But now most bots are invertible/self-rightable. And it's really not much cheaper than hitting a bot with a spinner, flipping the kill switch or something, and leaving it for dead.

I agree that Battlebots were, on average, more destructive/effective than Robot Wars bots. The RW bots were more creative and artful.

But really there is no point to arguing about it, and certainly no point in saying RW bots sucked. All robot combat tournaments are a good thing... we need more of them!
