In 2nd place, with 91 points, Clickbeetle.
And in 1st place, with a grand total of 95 points, InfiniteInertia!
Now for the Top Five DSL Builders

In 4th place, with 43 points, MikeNCR.
In 3rd place, with 52 points, Jules.
In 2nd place, with 71 points, R0B0SH4RK.
And in 1st place, with the amazing sum on 104 points (wow!), it's... *drumroll* Naryar!
Congratulations to you all!
(If you would like to know if you got voted for but weren't in the above lists, you can PM me.)
-
Hey Sage, you should have done top 5 n00bs, too. n00b being someone that has been here less than six months.
Edit: I didn't get any votes did I? I highly doubt it but can't help but wonder.
-
nope, sorry.
-
WHAT ??? URJAK IS ONLY 8TH ???
-
How was dummy not in the list of contributors? We owe all of RA2 modifications to him.
-
How was dummy not in the list of contributors? We owe all of RA2 modifications to him.
There's a few reasons as to how that could be:
- We only care about modifications that directly affect us (DSL and component packs, and similar things)
- His inactivity lost him enough votes.
- It's public opinion.
-
InfiniteInertia is a good stock builder, defo top ten, but not in a million years would he be first?
eFFe, Click, Luigica, Starcore or ACAMS are farr superior.
hmmm, the only one that makes sense to me is the contributors.
CB is clearly the best DSL builder
*perhaps this system should be relevent to the month it happens in, sort of a BOTM, but Builder OFTM.
-
CB is clearly the best DSL builder
He was... in the past.
-
I got 5th in DSL? Not bad. But Urjee got 8th... =[ (IMO he should be ranked higher, but oh well.)
Edit: Lol, I just noticed MNCR beat me by 1 point. XP
-
*perhaps this system should be relevent to the month it happens in, sort of a BOTM, but Builder OFTM.
Thats a good idea, but I like the sound of Ranks Of The Month better.
-
MikeNCR and Barbie are still my 2 favorite DSL builders.
-
Seems I reappeared just in time.
All those who won any of these Top Ten List's will receive a +1 On their Respect Rating on the wiki (non cumulative if your name appeared more than once). As it is a general view on the members by the community.
Think of i as a little gift from your friend Gig, excellent work everyone!
-
Methinks the list, especially Stock, needs more veterans. I'm glad to see Rejected made an appearance. What about MAD Scientist, Omega, disembowelinatron, and TeamOmegaforce?
-

You guys really don't care that he's the reason why you have DSL?
- His inactivity lost him enough votes.
Dummy was never really active. Despite that, he's probably the most important member to have ever been in the RA2 community.
- It's public opinion.
Perhaps we should have had voting handled by electorates...
-
I don't believe you even voted Jeffery. It's not our fault if you don't like the ranks.
I won't do a full one like this every month, but will happen is you can nominate people to replace people on the list or to move people up, and then it's just a majority vote.
-

sorry, but the builders list (as i mentioned) only includes active members. It's why I added the top 5 members gone missing.
EDIT: Sorry bout the double post.
-
It would be nice if Goose were at least considered too. He's done allot for RA2 and the forums, esp behind the scenes...
-
I don't believe you even voted Jeffery. It's not our fault if you don't like the ranks.
I'm voicing my disgust for the lack of respect given to Dummy by the current community. Let me axe you something: did Dummy get any votes? Old timers like me can't be the only ones to appreciate his great contributions.

I would disagree, Barbie. Have a Taco. If anyone is superior its Click, Starcore, or Pysc and Luigica even doesnt run anything anymore.

:drunk: someone wants to get bannnned, someone is abusing ACAMS'S girllllfriend
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
I would disagree, Barbie.
Umm... what the f--k? lol
-
I don't think people like Jeffery and RFS (and maybe even Barbie) even LOOK at the stock showcase. I want you to look at Inf's showcase, and look at how many bots he has that are of a high quality build. All of them. Now look, for instance, at ACAMS showcase. He doesn't really have one, so look at his BBEANS 5 entry. Cool? yes. Good? Seems to be. Better built than Absolute Chaos, Silver Bullet 2, ReaXioN 2, or Vertical Horizon? Opinion, but I think not.
If you don't like nominations, that's your fault. You didn't vote.
-
If you don't like nominations, that's your fault. You didn't vote.
It doesn't matter if I voted or not. Lame-ass user created polls don't impress me. I'm objecting more to the fact that the current community has no respect for those who made what they're doing now possible.
-
I think the problem is that a lot of us don't know about the past, not that we don't respect it. I've just kind of heard of the name "Dummy" before. Admittedly, I don't even know who he was or what he did for the community. It would be nice if someone could fill me in.
-

Yep!
Dummy... i think, made the first components, and a .cfz compiler/decompiler among other works.
-

Dummy is the guy who opened up modding. He made the first custom components, and custom arenas. After doing so, he gave us the tools to do it ourselves.
-
When moding files, I run into Dummy's work all of the time... he and Dark Rat.
As far as the progress of this game, I think we forget that order doesn't happen by itself. Some individual(s) thought out idea(s), and then did the work to implement the progress of the game.
...It's the same with societies, people born into an somewhat orderly society do not realize the thought and work it took to create the present social order. They're just born into it and they think it's always been, and will always be, that way. So they cease to contribute to the maintenance and start to exploit it. (These are the people who won't even bother to read this section of this post...)
...Same with a teen-ager using his parent's car, they don't know the amount of effort (payments, insurance, repairs, GAS, TIRES, etc) it took to acheive this.... and thus will probably take it for granted.
...War veteran's say this all of the time...
...So, Jeffrey has a good point, and I don't think he's complaining (at least at first because we're not getting it), but rather suggesting that we also remember the vets, that gave so much, but are no longer with us.
Sage is very able to figure out how to accomodate the large contributors of the past... Few relevant factors:
(This poll could specify to include only current members..?)
(The wiki already notes some current and past contributors...?)
(This poll could include ALL, but then cannot really rely on the vote of the current members who don't know some of the pillars of the past....?)
----
#Note to the nerds: I don't want to hear any "There goes Mad into his philisophical (larger picture) jargon again..." because it's by only thinking in a little comfortable box, that the above dynamics can even happen in the first place...*:baby_smily:*
.
-
Indeed.
Time passes, and memories fade out.
AU is gone. The official forums are gone. The only significant archives are in the veteran's/oldtimer's memories, and this forum that was far from being the center of the community in the past.
With all the relatively new members we have here, most of the RA2 community focuses on the present and the future, not on the past.
Dummy might have brought a lot of things to the community, but as you guys put it he wasn't very active and isn't since long... and that is why he's forgotten by most.
-

Or just not remembered.

Another bone to pick: Putting Lu-Tze in a "Gone Missing" category? Do you know how horrible that is? She didn't go missing; she ****ing died! We were informed of this when it happened. So she never went missing. There was no period of time where people were wondering, "Hey, where did Lu-Tze go?" She was active up until her death. Poor choice of words, Sage.

I'm going to catch crap for this, I know, but what would you suggest? I get a feeling "Best worm food" or "Best corpses" or "Best casket stuffers" would be worse.
-
Yes, actually, I agree with "Frezal/Jeffery". But there really isnt much you can call it otherwise...and "Member's No Longer With Us" sounds just as bad.
And my bone to pick, is that no one knows who SpawnGeek is/was, and should be up there on that list...
Also, I just realized, how in the effin' world was I voted 6th best DSL builder? Click is 1000000% better than I am, and I would say a top 3 builder DSL, and the top builder between both games. Thats just wrong.
-

Those would be worse, but it's not as if those are the only other options. How about "Best Former Members"? That would include all those who passed away, all who were banned, and all who left on their own without insulting anyone.
-
I am beginning to think ranks are for noobs.......and maybe we should keep it that way!
goose never even got mentioned, and even tho (hehehe....oooops, sorry) he never was known as a master bot builder....He WAS one of the first few to make a motor and arena and has helped the community in several ways...including the bot exchange that was lost (altho he should have backed it up) He made the first armor pack and if it was not for goose helping me get DSL here on gametechmods,com......it would have went down with AU!!!
Rejected, Spawngeek, Foolishevil, clutch1, and Destroyer 101 were master builders and inovated all the techniques you guy's take for granted. Foolishevil and clutch were the first to mount weapon motors on servo's to place them in body panels that they would not fit otherwise and I was using bursts to do it and didn't even know what I was doing. D101 made the first 1 wheel bot....Omega made the first popup, Mad Scientist discovered the "Trinity" glitch.......YOU GUY'S WERE NO WHERE AROUND BACK THEN.....so it should be noob rankings in my opinion.
I can't say that.....the effee glitch and bot editing (apanx) came later, but on average most of the real masters were skipped in the ranking list.
EDIT: Don't forget .....Cherry Flavored made the antiballast you now take for granted....and more I will think of as soon as I save this!
-
*New Era RA2 Rankings
-
That does sound a little better, huh?
BUT still not there!
-
"Old Fogee Era"
.......vs
"New Fogee Era"
*I should get a raise*
.
-
I KNEW I was needing to add something...like the masive amount of work and achievement by Starcore and Madiaba.........EVEN THO BOTH were mentioned...they deserve second and third mention! And apanx and Serge (I knew him as mEgAbYtE) because BOTH have added lots of info......especially Serge lately with his decompiler/compiler......And he was NOT even mentioned!
-
Serge was in the rankings...
-
ACAMS makes a good point, but I think we all have to understand that you simply cannot compare builders past and present. Rejected, Spawkgeek, and Foolishevil might have been great builders, and the best-of-the-best, but honestly many of us build bots that shred theirs on a daily basis. Does that make us better builders? Not necesarily. It would be like (I'm going to use a hockey analogy because I can't think of anything else at the moment) saying Bobby Orr wass better than Wayne Gretzky was (I apologize for those who don't get it, but I'm not exactly up to date in Rugby, Soccer, Etc).
Anyways, both were thet absolute best, but if Orr (he played in the 60's-70's) played in Gretzky's era (80's-90's), he'd be useless. So to say that Infiniteinertia is better than Rejected is kind of unfair to both. In my opinion, Inf is the top stock builder on the forums today, and he, like many others, shreds Rejected's bots (NWB, etc) regularily. But is he a better builder in his time than Rejected was in his? I'd say absolutely not.
-
Well I say most players today get shreaded by Rejected, Spawkgeek, clutch, Foolishevil .......and my average bot.....going head up bot to bot EVERY bot in our teams folders....our 4 year old team......And Rejected and Spawkgeek have advanced builds even for todays standards.
-
Why is everyone getting in such a huff about this? It was just a little thing to do for fun and to give incentive for people to get better. Jeffery, do you honestly believe that while I was thinking this up, and the titles for the ranks, I purposely did "Members Gone Missing" to insult Lu-Tze? Am I that evil of a person to do something like that?
I said best builder, and I mean it. As many of you said, Rejected and others were amazing back in their day, but can be easily beaten by today's bots. This is a current ranking system, which is why I added the Member's Gone Missing section.
I have not seen one good comment on this, so as such I am not continuing it. Does anyone have "a bone to pick" with that?

It should probably be left to tournies to decide the best.
Hmm.. and I have an idea.
-
We just have to add more categories...
Top10 CURRENT Stock builders (Still in the community even if they don't build a lot like ACAMS)
Top10 PAST Stock buiders (Left the community)
Top10 DSL builders
Top10 CURRENT modders (Still active today)
Top10 PAST modders (Left the community)
Top10 GONE MISSED members
About Lu-Tze... she already has a memorial in the forums.
Trying to come up with a solution here.
-
Another bone to pick: Putting Lu-Tze in a "Gone Missing" category? Poor choice of words, Sage.
Most Missed Member
^^^ perhaps that would have been a better option when naming that category... but do ranks really matter ? maybe there should just be a DSL and Stock rank and each tournament win or BOTM win that person gains 1 point and moves up the list according ? no disrespect, no controversy, no popularity vote.
-
Sage, people are just giving out criticism. Just poorly written.
In a lighter note, the people here have given me a lot of facts I didn't know.
Robo: you are forgetting that the bots you speak of are outdated. if they stayed till today, they'd probably still have bots that can whoop our asses on a daily basis.
-
We just have to add more categories...
Top5 CURRENT Stock builders (Still in the community even if they don't build a lot like ACAMS)
Top5PAST Stock buiders (Left the community)
Top5 DSL builders
Top5 CURRENT modders (Still active today)
Top5 PAST modders (Left the community)
Trying to come up with a solution here.
I'm good with these. After a AIM chat with pyscolone, having only 5 per category would make this a lot better. You guys good with that? I don't really want to discontinue this, but it didn't seem to get much community support.
-
top 5 would make it easier to choose and as a result gain more interest... separating past members and current ones should also minimize a little bit of the controversy between newer community members to older ones
-
Ahem, GTM awards guys.....
-
You have my support on this Sage. (Big deal)
Still i prefer a Top10... more builders feeling rewarded, and we are many... especially in DSL where all the top builders are nearly at the same level.
But if you guys really think Top5 is better, so be it.
-
If you guy's want to stop this here, I will host a Top 5 Builders of the Month tournament and list the winners on the front page with the BOTM.
-
i'm nowhere on the list O.o oh noes! im sure i contribute >.>
-
If you guy's want to stop this here, I will host a Top 5 Builders of the Month tournament and list the winners on the front page with the BOTM.
I am interested.
-
good idea(not that i would even get into the top 30)
-
I feel there should be a "Most improved n00b" category as well. A n00b being someone that has been here less than 6 months and most improved meaning compared to how they started. I feel it would give us n00bs something more to aim at.
Just a suggestion though...
-
Nary: I think the thing is that sage asked us to vote on 10 each. Way to hard to choose.
How about a vote for the 3 best, while having a top 10 results.
-
Sage did an excellent job, and I think it is pretty accurate over all, and if he wants to continue updating it we can find a place to put it.....WIKI being one. Let Sage decide what needs to be done about it.
Some people have a slightly overated opinion about themselves and think they should be way up the list and then others will complain about something else....you can't make every body happy, so I think it is fine as is. WAIT!!!!!! I made a DSL bot one time......why was I not on the DSL list????
-
Hehe. Nice one ACAMS.
-

Uh...no no. Newbs are newcomers with beginner level knowledge and social skills, whereas n00bs are people who will perpetually be plagued with the expected idiocy of newbs. There cannot be improvement with n00bs. Newbs, on the other hand, can improve and become useful.
-
As others have already said, voting should be limited to five votes per catagory with them listed on the main page because IMO it would make the main page, too big if we did top ten. I also think there should be just two catagories (stock and DSL) because IMO it would be too hard to judge the others.
If we do best builder of the month, ACAMS could set up another uploader where members can upload a splash (optionally showing more than one bot) to represent themselves for that month. Then similar to BOTM people can vote on their favorite five for each catagory. Then the winners' names are added to the main page (hopefully people wouldn't vote based on the splash...). If we did it this way, people with showcases could reuse a splash if they didn't have time to make another while people without showcases could still participate. But then again, I'm just throwing out ideas.
-

There was no mistake........He wanted a vote.....and n00b is apparently his class...so I vote Super n00b!

No, something like that would have to be based on the Robot Showcase, because like Jeffery would say......if you don't show it , it didn't happen!
-
I will redo the categories and try this again. For the meantime, any other ideas?
-
If by "try this again" you are insisting that this failed in any way, It didn't. This was a succesful representation of the CURRENT builders and modders, which is as far as I know what it was supposed to be from the start.
-
I think you'd be better off with less categories. "Top 5 Current DSL Builders" and, "Top 5 Current Stock Builders" I think is enough.
-
yep
-
Yep.

Ok then, "Most Improved Newb". Sorry for the misuse of the term...
-
Alright! And that makes it much easier on my part as well. For now the list on the front page is current until next month.
-
top tourney hosts >.>
-
I think it was just decided that they were going to keep this a little more simple.
-
Everyone needs to vote for Trovaner too.
-
Agreed.
R.I.P:
Lu-Tze
edit: dam Jeffery's post got removed so the rip bit dosent make sense
-
noone will be willing to upkeep the list in 5 months.
-
noone will be willing to upkeep the list in 5 months.
Are you sure?
-
*Raise Dead spell*
So should we update the votes now ?
-
I am I a N00b or a newb?
-
Sure.
ALRIGHT!
everyone send their votes, get them in by sunday the 27th.
-
so we are just voting on stock builders and DSL builders now ?
-
Might vote if I remember... *ZZZZ*
-
yes. top 10 stock and top 10 DSL. if you cant come up with 10 thats perfectly fine, but no more please.
-
Results ?
*first place drooling*
-
Results ?
*first place drooling*
Yep. Just gotta tally them up. Would have done it earlier but APUSH is killing me.
Oh, and you didn't get best builder.
For stock that is :D
-
So is it up? Guessing not as of now.
