First, the top 5 Stock builders!
In fifth place... Pyscolone, with 13 points!

Fifth place is not bad, though. :D
Also, I KNEW that 123STW would be voted #1, but I didn't think it would be that close.
Edit: G.K., I bet that JB got a lot of votes. I personally think he should have been voted #1, I mean he's contributed so much and he has been here for only about a year!

And Ounce- JoeBlo has done a lot, but I think you guys take Madiaba for granted. He does so much behind the scenes working on arenas, new AI codes, and special components. We need to give him credit for all the work he does to help out everyone on the forum.

I bet that JB got a lot of votes. I personally thinkhe should have been voted #1, I mean he's contributed so much and hehas been here for only about a year!
I like to think I do a lot and its nice that it is noticed but Madiaba does so much more, you wouldnt know it but he does help me through so much, always giving up his time for myself and others, I am very thankful for his help :mrgreen: I wouldnt have done half the stuff on here if it wasn't for his guidance and teachings.

I have to say... I think these tallies are pretty bad. I mean, I love 123STW's building too, but there is no way in heck he's the top DSL builder. Naryar, Pwn, and Reier are all better right now IMO, and what's with Scrap Daddy getting no love in stock? Scrap, Inf, Pys and Pwn are all more deserving than Sage of the second spot too. Not that I don't like Sage's building, I just think that there's five better stock builders than him at the moment.

Honestly, I based my votes on people that are building bots right now or have been in the past half a year. I haven't seen any action from Inf and Psy since the last BBEANS. While I do agree that they are excellent builders, I thought this vote was about who are the best builders now. Not, who are the best builders in the history of RA2. We have seen a lot of new members come into the forum and the only exposure they have to Inf & Psy's building skill is through digging in old showcases.
I had to hold myself back from voting for Tankcat... who I think is insanely good at stock. But he has been gone for a long time too unfortunately.
Some of the vets are fading out of memory due to inactivity... this voting is proof.

You seem to have a much different opinion than the general consensus, ROBO...
Maybe you can explain your reasoning, and then other people might understand why you chose who you did.

I've been friends with Inf basically since he joined, but I didn't vote for him. Nor did i vote for Pyscolone.

Okay, I will. Feel free to disagree, after all, controversy is what makes these things worth doing.
My top 5 in Stock:
5) Pyscolone - Although he has been inactive recently, the fact still remains that his building skill trumps the majority of forum members. With some of the tighest stacking and cleanest designs (See: Horizontal Verizon, Bounty Hunter, and Inf AI's Little Metal Friend), his designs are the most well-built on the forums - as far as perfect placement goes.
4) Scrap Daddy - Another seemingly forgotten showcase, Scrap has become one of the premier designers here. From Jugglers to HS to SnS, he has made some of the coolest bots of recent memory. Also, his ability to build at all weight levels is surpassed by few. Just look at his RAW 2 entries.
3) InfiniteInertia - His reputation of a troll - as well earned as it is - seems to hurt him in the eyes of many builders, but the fact still remains that many builders still aspire to equal his building. He's basically Scrap Daddy with a better track record (actually, Scrap Daddy's just Inf 2.0 but yeah...). Just one look at ReStocked and Inf AI should tell you all you need to know about his abilities.
2) Clickbeetle - He can build generic spinners, generic rammers, and generic popups better than nearly all of the community, but he dosen't. He builds with a kind of creativity that almost nobody else has. For that alone, he is a top-tier builder. Combine that with second-to-none skills, and you get amazing.
1) Pwnator - Burn me as a heretic if you please. The fact is the kid's got skills. Huge skills. Already, he's built some of the coolest and greatest bots ever (Free Radical, Helix 2) and he's improving constantly. He is not a specialist of any one type, and can build at every weight class (Hyperbola 2, Shock). Like Clickbeetle, he also has that certain creativity that few others have. Right now, he has entered a class of his own.
DSL was much harder than Stock to choose for. Especially the top-2.
DSL:
5) MikeNCR - He has never been the most skilled builder, but the touch that he brings from his real-life experience gives his bots that little something special. He has a knack for design too, as proved by his consistent excellent performances in tourneys.
4) Reier - S-O-L-I-D. That's how I describe him. The Pyscolone of DSL, Reier's designs (especially the earlier ones) are always very sturdy. His newest VS threesome solidified his spot here, and he's built some very, very nice FS's too.
3) Myself - I always feel bad voting for myself, but hey, this is how I feel. It's probably hurt me that I haven't showcased my best bots in forever, but hey, when Pwn and Ounce are showcasing almost carbon copies of MW's that I've had built for around a month, it makes me feel pretty good :)
2) Naryar - He set the DSL standard with HazCon. And then, he built on it. With his Nar AI release, it's not just how good the robots are (there was a significant drop-off in the competition level when his teams ended and the community ones began), but the sheer volume of them. Nary's built tons of robots - legions of LW's, masses of MW's, and h... h... ah, screw it... lots and lots of HW's. And they all kick ass too.
1) Pwnator - "FGHSHAKJHASDJLDHASJHL YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOU VOTED FOR HIM AS THE TOP STOCK BUILDER YOU FOOL!" ...I just did. I have to admit, Nary's a reeeeeeaaaaaaally close second, but I think the edge goes to Pwnator because Nary hasn't really posted anything great since HnM 4 (in fact, he's almost been... regressing...), while Pwn's been getting better. As Sage put it:
You are one of the few people on the forum that are truly great with both DSL and Stock. Probably, in my opinion, the best in that category.
I have to say I agree.

Pwn is good in DSL and stock, but I honestly thing SSG is better at stock building, and Meganerd is slightly lower at both.
You also forget Gigafrost, Philletbabe and Madiba. Not forgetting Trovaner...

And that's not because i don't showcase a lot that i don't improve. HnM 4 has outdated wedges and some of the later bots of mine can beat it :P

and yet I'm nowhere on your list for top picks in DSL. :P I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Nice thought S-32, but not really.
Facts: Gig is a pretty good bot builder. The last 3 of us (and probably Gig too) are more 'modders' than 'players'. I personally like the coding and researching new things than competing bots. I think the same for Trov and Phil (they can speak for themselves). Though I rarely can do even that any more... Just do mainly new ideas and/or troubleshooting, for members....
Pt: We don't fit into this category, IMO. Apanx would fit here too (probably the best py-er). Serge, same (C++ man). Thankful for all of the above; we co-work continuously behind the scenes.
Also, as far as contributor, CB is working on the side toward DSL3. His work is ongoing but not manifest,...yet. Large work.
Bottom line, I'm not sure the 'competitive' spirit is behind us modders as much as it is among the bot-builders. Frankly I don't care, just trying to keep the community going and even thriving...

"I made an arena that is low lag and has 16 hazards!"

I don't know what to say. I think it's the UHW that got me the 1 extra vote.
And my very biased DSL votes were (base on function and aesthetic)
1. Click - You can't beat the style
2. The Ounce - It just so happen that most bots I have trouble with on NAR v2 comes from The Ounce
3. Scrap - Bots look too crazy
4. Naryar - #1 in terms of function, but falls short in looks.
5. Pwnator - Would get a higher vote if he builds more.

just a thought perhaps the only people in the running for the ranks are those who have there showcase on page 1 of the respective section ?
just seems like a level playing field if we go off the last month, so when Feb is close to finished Sage should hold another with only "candidates" on pages 1 of the showcases.
will making thinking easier for everyone too.

Wow, I feel really silly right now. I did my rankings entirely from memory, and there was three bots that I had in my head that I thought Pwnator built, but they are really The Ounce's.
So, yeah I gave Ounce the shaft, but I revise my DSL rankings to this:
5) MikeNCR
4) Reier
3) Myself
2) The Ounce
1) Naryar
Sorry Pwn, but I have to give credit where credit is due, and Ounce seems to be waaay more talented than he is memorable to me >.>
And Ounce, after reviewing your showcase, I do stand by that comment :)

123Savethewhales (My current favorite showcase to watch. I admire 123's technical approach and uncanny understanding of the component statistics to build his bots. I am learning so much from his building (and my DSL building is pretty bleh)
Naryar (The man! The Legend! When you think DSL you think of Naryar... I only put him second to 123 because some of his bots just lack a certain excitemtent to them. Might be because they are refined... or because he is distracted with Nar AI.)
The Ounce (Excellent building skills! It is very obvious that he learns from looking at other showcases. I have watched his talents improve greatly by learning from others.)
Pwnator (Solid builder... approaching legendary status. Whenever you see that you are facing pwn in a tourney... You cant help but feel like you are going to lose.)
Scrap Daddy (When he is not playing MW2... He tosses a spectacular bot into his showcase that makes us all drool.)
Stock 5
Roboshark (He owned in BBEANS with a popup... that had frickin' swords on it! I normally hate popups... but he brought a pretty innovative bot to the table that did insanely well. Every element of his building impresses me... the refinement of the design, skins, naming, etc etc.)
Sage (Never seems to back down from a stock challenge. Always a contender in Stock BOTM. Very impressive and skilled with making bots that strike fear in our hearts.)
Scrap Daddy (Legendary in stock. Makes some of the most fearsome jugglers out there.)
Virus Bomb (Deserves credit for being a solid active builder. Steady improvements over time and is emerging to be one of the better current builders of the community.)
RedlineM203 (Same as Virus Bomb... except with insanely awesome paintjobs on bots. Nearly all of Redline's bots look great and well thought out. I don't think I have ever seen a messy bot from this guy. One of my favorite current builders.
