Title: The Perfect robot.
Post by: System32 on October 06, 2008, 04:53:05 PM
Continued from Urjak's showcase.

I think that perfecting a robot is pointless, as part of the fun in any game is losing. would you like a game with diversity, or the Perfect robot?

There is no such thing as a perfect robot. But if there was, I would prefer diversity.

you guys do realize that this game has been out for nigh six years. there has been diversity all up to this point, striving towards the goal of the perfect robot. and we are close.

True, but what happens when two perfect robots go head to head?

then the winner would be the perfect robot. because it means it can't be beat, there can only be one in the world.

There is no such thing as a perfect robot. Sage you must be speaking about the perfect HS. And the perfect HS may be a very efficient thing, it can't be the perfect robot.

But the perfect robot in their bot type can be made.

im not talking about the perfect HS. it might BE an HS, but i doubt it. no matter how good and insane they are. Ideal Tyrant 3 took out ultimatum in one hit KO. i built a hammer bot that can KO it more then half the time.

What if the two EXACT same perfect bots went head to head with the EXACT same AI, in an arean with No walls or hazards?

One of four things:
A) Instant Death for Both
B) Instant Death to a Random One
C) Duel of Fates
D) They Refuse to Fight Each Other

Just make a battle between two identical AI bots. You'll see.

this a dumb conversation. we are just as diverse but more skilled now a days.

I like diversity in exploring new ideas.

I agree with Inf... There can never be a perfect robot, because all in all, the creator of that robot would have to be perfect. Since all humans are not perfect, the perfect robot is but an enigma.

then that one robot is the perfect robot. doesnt matter which one of itself it kills.

One of the two.

__________

I'm being sarcastic because you could find the answer yourself by pitting NWB against another NWB.

Yes, but why would one win over the other.

because they are the same. if there was such a thing as the perfect human, you couldn't fight yourself, so why should the perfect bot?

That makes no difference, even if they have the same bindings they still won't drive exactly the same way.

...Are you happy now ??

So is it random, or will one consistantly win over the other, for some reason.

Random.
Title: The Perfect robot.
Post by: Sage on October 14, 2008, 08:22:05 PM
its random if they are the same. but its still only one perfect robot. theres nothing special about it fighting itself, because that doesnt matter if its the same.

Perfect bot, huh? Even if there were such, because there are more factors than the bot itself, the outcome is not predictable.
Because I had nothing else or better to do today (yea, right) I put the same bot (Alien Queen) against itself for 5 sets of 10 matches, in the Combat arena (no hazards). The results were...
.........Matches:
Bot1: 6
Bot2: 4

Bot1: 5
Bot2: 5

Bot1: 7
Bot2: 3

Bot1: 4
Bot2: 6

Bot1: 7
Bot2: 3

Bot2 only won one set. If done again, the results would be different, of course. So obviously, other factors than just 'bot-condition' (even if 'perfect') matter.

Wherever the Ai starts in the Combat Arena, they are programed to turn around the Spikes, and that leaves a big opening.

most people turn off hazards in the combat arena, and when they are turned off the AI doesn't avoid them.

I doubt we'll ever get a perfect bot, every bot has a strength or weakness. Some bots are better built, but it comes down to a combo of driver skill, a little luck and building. Hell even Axe bots can be broad.
