I had an idea similar to this over the summer, but it was more of a mod than an AI pack.
-
cough rfs ai
-
cough rfs ai
and sovereigns AI, and basically everything else that came out pre-2005.
Sylandro do you even know how to AI?
-
so why exactly do we need more crap bots
-
Whelp, these are for the Noobs. And My Team currently has a LW SnS. EDIT: Now a Spinner.

Nobody gets better playing against sh**ty robots. Then they just end up building robots of equal sh** level and never actually progressing their bot building ability.

Calm down, let's just put it that these are " Bonus " Teams for the Stock AI.

Oh boy, some awful bonus DLC for something that was already awful. Norwegian Deal!
-
The only usefulness this AI pack will have is for people who build crap robots and want to keep being crap to put it bluntly.
-
Sylandro you need to learn to build to a good standard before the other guys on here will take anything you do seriously. In the eyes of many here you have no credibility hosting tournaments or making mods if you don't know how to build good robots first or know how to AI and other such things. Its good that you are enthusiastic and want to be active but there are things you need to know how to do, and show that you can do before you should be doing stuff like this. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you or anyone else what to do or how to do it, I'm just letting you know most of the guys on here won't take you seriously unless you show a certain level of robot building knowledge/ability. I think you could be a great member in time but you have to go through the learning process like anyone before you can do this stuff.

Don't forget maturing mentally and stop being dumb to everyone on the forum...

See this is the sort of thing that having a robot fighting association or similar avoids. Its like a chess club, you don't play on the top boards before you reach a certain standard and everyone who joins knows that. It's not elitist, its just meritocratic. I probably wouldn't even get in cos of all the stuff I don't know how to do yet, but at least I would know there was a high standard to go for out there and it would be worth it (off topic but I think these are linked problems).

Noobs have no idea how to download and install stuff at first. and their bot building grows with their knowledge. When they download their first ai pack they want something more challenging than stock ai.

Yes. Very much so.

lol you must be kidding, your bots are like rule of cool incarnate, and very few people care about efficiency as long as the result is sufficiently awesome.

Yes... excepted that coming from you it sounds pretty loaded.

I'm having Problems AIing, i'm trying to AI my bots, and i dropped all of my .BOT files to my "Team15" folder. But when i click on my AI team, the game freezes and crashes.
-
I posted a guide to AI'ing for noobs ages ago complete with pics etc. shame it's gone. (at least i think it is...)

Well, here's my stuff that i do. First, i create a Team Folder, in the AI folder, Then I Drag and drop .BOT files ( From the Teams folder ).
-
AI'ing: You're doing it wrong.
-
Whelp, look. I'm just a noob.
-
You need to:
*Make sure the controls on your bot are named correctly (Forward and LeftRight = required for movement).
*Replace AI bots with your own, make sure you rename your bot to the name of the bot file you replace (Bot0, Bot1, Bot2 etc. and the "B" needs to be capital).
*Change the name of the bot you replaced in bindings.py to your bots name (as it appears in the .bot file).
*Change anything else in that line that needs changing (bot type and nose direction mostly).
When you can do those 4 steps you're well on your way to knowing how to AI. Please note AI'ing is very sensitive to mistakes, any little error can make you game crash when loading so be sure to back-up your game before trying any of this!
-
Wow. Just freaking wow. You don't know anything about AI'ing do you? If I were assed enough to put up a rant, I would.
Also, ironically enough, your AI pack spells out a meme we don't use enough nowadays.
TLT AI. (ROFL's historically)
-
normally its common practise to learn how to ai before announcing a new ai pack

Remember ROFL AI?

Too late.

Calm the f**k down everyone.

Calm the f**k down everyone.
We're calm, you're the one swearing here.
-
Calm down? You realize we are apathetic about this, thus, don't need to be calmed down
-
Calm the f**k down everyone.
Shut up, you little bastard.
-
Stop the hate. Slyandro you are the one who needs to calm down TBH.

He's 10, maybe come back to this in 5 or so years.....maybe. Honestly though, how the heck do these young ones keep finding us? that age is way to young to be coming onto forums like this, they lack the processing power in their brains to be able to tell the difference between bullying and constructive criticism.
I was the same way when I was a noob except I was a bit older and I actually wanted to make people here happy so they could get of my back, this guy is defiant lol.

its a kids game ian, same reason foul language is banned in main forum
and I've said it before and I've said it again, we don't need any more [random poser's] AI packs. Do something different, do something cool, or have a new standard of building or something. Oh, and KNOW HOW TO AI ALREADY. There are guides everywhere.
Thread closed. I thought we didn't have this problem anymore, but I guess I was wrong.
