Entry #5 in the August BOTM discovered this.
Discuss.
-
I'm still discussing it in the BOTM thread. xD (aka spamming it up)
-
Requires more weight which could be spent on weapons, drive, or armor. Though that's just me, I haven't had any success with it though even with 20 pinks and 2blacks on a 3 DDT flipper.

No. It has to be a pure pink-battery powered robot, in order for this "thing" to work.

Bot 5 has a black and 9 pinks.

Soooo then how did BOTM #5 get those super-special-awesome flips with mixed batts...?
Edit: Geice why do you always have to own me at everything
-
Well it doesn't work with a 472.3 KG 6 razored pure pinked double wedged side popup
-
This is a life-saver. Stacking blacks was stupidly difficult for me.
-
Wait, since Entry #5 has 1 Black in it...
Maybe its just a matter of mixing and matching batteries O,o
-
There is something going on for sure..
Im not sure if what was written on #5's splash is accurate for what is happening..
But it has unearthed something new with Pink's/ Battery input...
-
Nonsense, blacks are much more efficient weightwise than pinks even if you can stack 30 pinks in a spot four times smaller than a black.
-
More efficient for elect totals and basic power needs but have a look at the power loading up pinks creates.. from screenshots in the BOTM thread..
-
OK, we need to ban pinks! .... :gawe:
-
I decided to test this theory out and see what was what.
I first built a test bot with 2 HPZ motors and Rubber Wheels for drive, and a pair of DDTs with a 20cm extender and Small Wedge component for flipping. The choice of power for each test was a pair of Supervolts (Stacked, of course), and the equivelant in Pink Batteries: Weight for Weight and Power for Power.
I put the test robot in a 3-minute match with Da Dog in the Combat Arena with Hazards turned OFF to test each battery setup, and I tested how high the robot flipped the opponent, and how much battery power was left at the end of the 3 minutes. The 2 Blacks and 16 Pinks gave consistent flipping power throughout the match, but the 7 pinks began to run low quite early on, and the flippers took almost two seconds to fully retract near the end of the fight.

From what I can deduce, the 2 Supervolts are not only most efficient weight-wise, but also the best for flipping power. The 16 Pinks offer slightly improved longevity for the power output, but the weight cost is just not worth it, in my opinion.
-
What about the pinks and a black, like people mentioned in the other thread?
-
If neither using all pinks or all blacks has an effect on power supplied at the start of a match, a mix of the two really shouldn't make a difference; which I tested and confirmed in the BOTM thread. (don't kill me ACAMS)
-
Not really too much of a difference. 1 Supervolt and 7 Pinks (1500/101000) this time, but I had to use Hax Mode to get them all in. 339.4kg now.

Similar longevity results to the 2 Supervolts, but doesn't flip as high.
-
1 Pink powers my Box of Nightmares entry. Fights fine.
-
I did some of my own testing.. with approx equal weight
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/61501flipcompare.PNG)
Approached the robot at approx the same location and approx the same speed.. (I tested and speed does very the flip, something that others may have neglected)
My guess at this point in time is that pinks fail alone but a mix can be beneficial

The Pinks have to be stacked. It's apparently what triggers this.
....At least, according to what Ive seen.
-
It's just more power.

Doesn't makes any sense, why would stacking (aka the mere location of a component) improve the power of batteries ?
Yeah, I know, RA2 physics doesn't make any sense but this makes NEGATIVE sense !

Look, I don't know either.
I'm just the guy who made a separate topic about it.

It does not work for me.

From a programmers perspective: negative.
-
Has anyone actually tested this to prove it?
-
Zog: Read page 1 and see pictures.
-
Half asleep, sorry.
-
Has anyone actually tested this to prove it?
yeah...
try reading the.. ya know.. whole thread?..
I mean even the top of this page has pics.. :P
-
So is this now a confirmed glitch or still kinda... shaky? It needs a name, whichever it is XD
-
"still kinda" would be the answer
Though im claiming it as either "Pink Loading" if its just a building strategy
Or "Firecracker" (after the robot) if its a glitch / similar..
I need to do some more research though..
-
Wheely Big Cheeses Playmate?
-
Slight bump but I just wanted to say that something is going on here. Joe and I shared ideas for a while and then started doing various tests. I'll upload my results when I dig them out.
